However ridiculous it is that Spider-Man is now Spider-Goblin, you can't deny the battle with the Sinister Six doesn't satisfy completely. Peter Parker may be in a terrible place, but Amazing Spider-Man hasn't been this fun in ages. It's wacky in the best of ways. Read Full Review

The overall story continues to build suspense as the risk to Peter's life grows increasingly evident and a collection of supporting characters prepare to rally for his side. It's another excellent issue that promises the best is still yet to come. Read Full Review

Weird Science Marvel Comics - mrgabehernandez Jun 5, 2024

Amazing Spider-Man #51 is a mixed bag of visually appealing art and cool fight scenes, offset by tonally inconsistent writing and a rehashed plot concept that's less than a year old. Die-hard fans of ASM are already hanging on to this title by their fingernails, and this issue does nothing to give them a helping hand. Read Full Review

    Plot
Norman Osborn possessed by Green Goblin sends Peter Parker alias Spider-Goblin to eliminate the Sinister Six, none of them are prepared for the attack that combines Spider-man's powers with Green Goblin's weapons, it is an intense and violent battle , where Kraven believes he can once again free Peter from the Green Goblin's sins as he did before, but Peter is mind-controlled by the Green Goblin.

Kamala Khan calls her former boss Osborn, to discover that he is not the Norman she knows, she may be the key to saving him, although Chasm knew what was going to happen when they used the Winkler Devise, he appears to help Peter or eliminate him, I haven't decided yet.

    FWIP "Fwip?"
I really appreciate how much is being tackled in just 20 pages. The continuation of the current threat that is the Green Goblin's return, Kraven's pursuit of redeeming Spider-Man from the other Spider-Goblin arc, Ben's journey back to becoming himself, the dangling Sinister Six plot which had honestly felt like such an afterthought since the anniversary issue. It all blends seamlessly together in a fast paced yet still story rich book. My only complaint is that I think Todd Nauck should get the lead pencil duties. I'm not a big fan of McGuinness on Spider-Man. Everyone is a little too chunky.

I'm surprised by how many threads are being pulled on for this arc. Some obvious, some not so much. The art is great and the writing is a step above what Wells usually puts out. I really hope they use this arc to redeem some of the less good elements of the run, like they seem to be doing with Ben and Kamala.

I still think the start of this run was horrendous. I still think anytime he touches MJ it’s garbage. But, the little things that he’s planted along the way, are they actually going to pay off?

    Great job on the art.

Maybe my memory is bad, but legit i think this is the best arc in this run and especially this issue i do not get how someone would hate it.

This is such a joy to read. it's bombastic as hell, it's cheesy, it's goofy, but what are the sinister six, if not that. They all scream with character and the issue is not even focused on that so much. Just the exaggerated prideful expressions turning to faces full of fear, the dialogue, the action flows really well and the reading is exciting, because of all the explosiveness Mcguiness give it with his art. But again not to underestimate the plotting and how clear and concise it is,while again with the rhythm the arts gives it.

It's an entertaining issue with great art and nice surprises. Zeb started strong and continues his streak with this one.

Something about the tone isn't quite clicking and we really did just do evil peter a few months ago, but this is very readable and I like how the storytelling feels.

It's not bad and is fun but the bad Peter/Spidey tone feels off somehow. Still enjoyable read blending all the angles. McGuiness's art is beyond amazing. His panels, compositions, angles are all near perfect!

Dare I say that ASM has had two good issues in a row? It's not truly amazing, but it's another fun issue that's been needed for this series.

Great art in general but the story and dialogue are brutally corny. Only issue with the art is how he seems to lean into the goofiness of the story.

It's so disappointing that Marvel not only allows but embraces Wells run that doesn't take the title seriously. This feels like a goofy digital comics not the main series. Marvel's been struggling mediocre titles trying to be "fun" that just play off corny.
