As the volume winds down, even in the midst of a crossover event Cates manages to find ways to start bringing home dangling thematic questions about Stephen Strange as a character that have always been present since Issue #1. Read Full Review
Cates was ballsy to take a pause in the middle of the action in a big crossover for Strange to take a breather but it works, Cates really seems to gets Strange and nails the dialogue and dry quippy nature the character has had. Niko Henrichsons art is just as crazy absurd and good as the story itself and really brings a lot to this series as well. His art shines the best when hes getting to draw crazy creatures so I like that Damnation really plays to his strengths. Read Full Review
DOCTOR STRANGE #388 is a nearly perfect comic book narrative, with exciting twists and turns that reminded me of old school STRANGE comics. I epsecially loved the all-star art by Nico Henrichon, who truly highlighted the psychosis of the issue's main baddy! Read Full Review
Even in his darkest hour Strange can rely on his friends to rally round, whether its a dust-up in a Necrotic Realm or a much needed mental slap round the chops from Bats. Read Full Review
Bats steals the show in this issue which has some awesome detailed art and great dialogue. Hope to get some character growth from Strange going forward. Read Full Review
Doctor Strange #388 rights the ship with a fun and engaging tale of Stephen Strange and Bats the ghost Bassett Hound. We see the two navigate a prison of terror and confusion, and Niko Henrichon continues to impress with phenomenal artwork. This one gets a recommendation. Check it out. Read Full Review
Picking up after the events of Doctor Strange: Damnation #3, Doctor Strange #388 is a trippy adventure, but is, most importantly, easy to follow. Read Full Review
An all-out battle in the afterlife, while a basset hound fights for the Sorceror Supreme's soul... Worth the four bucks. Read Full Review
Damn I love it ... Why Marvel choose to let Dr Strange to Waid is a real mystery. Because Waid Avengers was good but not great & No surrender is a dIsaster (Yeah I'm sure Waid take the lead of this one).
Cates had big shoe to fill replacing Aaron, and for me he did a really awesome Job. I had left Strange's Aaron one year of now, and Cates succeed to make me read is first run & take Damnation that I didn't intent to take at first.
In this one he use perfectly Bats (I hope seen him again once Cates replaced). And he show a strange making mistake on mistake. It's really great. And I loved the part with both Thor & Jane foster helping.
Cover - 2/2 I love it & link to casino & the Necrotic Sub-Realm.
Writing - Love it more
Great artwork and writing makes me wonder why isn't this much effort put in the main issues of this crossover?
Cates is fantastic in his writing of Strange and Bats as they circle the pits of Hell-Ception. Niko Henrichon is a treat in this book with his art from splash pages to intimate simple pages that convey the mood perfectly.
Another turn of excellent work - pushing Doc Strange halfway through the mental prison Mephisto has trapped him in - cements Bats's place as the breakout star of both this title and the Damnation event. Plot developments here are a little uneven. Stephen continues to act a sucker even after all of Bats's hard work, and by the final pages, the plot creaks under the weight of one guest star too many. For me, the art is also a balancing act: I love the action scenes and the Eldritch Horrors, but I remain an anti-fan of this style when it comes to ordinary people's faces.
Flushes out what is going on internally with Stephen, which is more entertaining than the main Damnation story. The last few pages are a little blurred, either the file resolution was low or something went wrong with the printers.
