Wolverine vs. the X-Men?!
Declan Shalvey has some great, detailed art in this issue with the fight sequences being the highlight. Read Full Review
A strong third chapter. Logan is mad as hell and he has plenty of reason to pop those claws. Read Full Review
The overall story is still intriguing and there's some moments here and there that stand out, add in a new X-villain and it's not quite a story to give up on but there's something that doesn't quite feel special enough to justify the price of admission. Read Full Review
Return of Wolverine #3 features a fun new take on Logan but suffers from underwhelming art and a lean plot. Read Full Review
The Return Of Wolverine #3 is a good single-issue comic, but does very little to progress the plot of the book, which, while not a great plot, definitely needs some polish. This is the third issue, and things arent even remotely clear. The villains are so generic, it hurts. If Soule wanted to do a greatest hits Wolverine book, he didnt need to include anything about Soteira in it at all and would have had a much better comic. Shalveys continued wrongness for the art doesnt help matters much either. If it was just to be judged on the strength of Wolverine/X-Men confrontation, this would be a better book, but this is the middle of a five issue mini series with a plot and stakes that are still unclear. It feels a little too indulgent and thats a problem. Read Full Review
While Declan Shalvey's artwork is good, it feels poorly matched to this series, too tight and controlled to convey Wolverine's savage side or the raw emotion driving most of the action. Read Full Review
Return of Wolverine has been a disappointment so far to say the least. This is a team of talented creators not working to their potential and not finding a way to make one of Marvel's greatest characters a marquee event. Read Full Review
A lame event to bring back a character that marvel never really had the courage to kill in the first place. It's the return of Wolverine, but only if you don't count the four series named "Hunt for Wolverine" that came before this and all the 2974247 series that Old Man Logan starred in on the last 4 or 5 years
I should've stopped reading this book after McNiven's first issue. Soule had a good first issue with awesome art but the concept here after two issues is just stale. The fight that happened a gazillion times over. Shalvey's art is clean and good but sorry i can't get my head away from how much better it would've been with McNiven's. The optimist in me says Soule deserves a chance to at least give his answers next issue, so we'll see.
Starting to wish Wolverine stayed "dead".
Shalvey’s is by far the highlight of this issue. Logan, who seems completely out of character even though he has amnesia, attacks the X-Men. The fight between Logan and the X-Men is poorly executed by Soule and unexciting. Looks like we are getting some answers next issue, and they better be worth these first 3 horrible issues
I was just reading this for Declan Shalvey's art, but hoped the story would turn around at...some point. #3 did not change much of anything. Solid art. Tepid writing. Although, Shalvey doesn't do so well drawing epic action here.
This issue, and this series, have slowed things tremendously. Issue one had so much plot but the rest hasn't even come close. This issue is all about the X-Men finding Wolverine... And then you get half a fight. Not much there. Maybe issue four will be different and provide answers like the tag line promises, but on its own this issue is slow and the art doesn't fit the series at all.
Honestly I was kind of expecting more, and I’m not totally sure where we’re supposed to be standing at this point, but hoping for more!
Dropped.
Story: 2/10
Art: 1/10
Overall 0/10
Story: Read issue 2. It sucked. Who cares? This sucks, this isn't fun, this is work.
So naturally, I wasn't anticipating issue 3, and it definitely didn't disappoint!
As in, I expected this to suck and it did. Epic Shit!
Art: Oh man, I'm sorry. I'm not going to bash Declan here. I'll let the rating speak for itself.
I give this a zero, as in dropped. But this site doesn't have 0, so I give it a 1.
Good bye to my favourite Marvel character. Next!
