Overall, Superior Spider-Man #30 gave readers the conclusion they deserved in regards to Otto and Peter, but this story is far from being over. Peter has a lot on his plate with helping his city, stopping the Goblins, and dealing with the fallout of the Avengers. If there is one person who has faced trouble like this before its Peter Parker. While there is still one issue left in the “Goblin Nation” storyline, the final players in the finale have been cast and now there is only a few more weeks to see the fallout. Still, other side-plots come to different points that should be mentioned. Spider-Man 2099 is left in a percarious state by the end of the issue (much as he was left in issue #29) and Liz Allen hints at yet more potential tragedy waiting in the wings of Superior Spider-Man #30. While the plot of Spider-Man 2099s fate could have been handled a little better, his jab at Otto, as well as Green Goblins impression of the Wicked Witch, the pace rolls along at a rip-roaring momentum. THE SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #30 is a great issue and leaves me truly excited for the grand finale next issue. It's fast-paced, exciting and contains a fun development that is surprising and affecting in equal measure. This issue is a strong argument for just how effective this entire run has been, showing that Slott (with Gage's assistance) had a plan that showed us a different side of Otto Octavius and was well worth the ride. Superior Spider-Man has one final issue left before transitioning back to Amazing Spider-Man. And while there's certainly enough story material for Slott to work through before the end, Superior has already reached the emotional climax it needed. Honestly, I'm a little sad as this book is one issue away from the return of Peter and along with the anticipation Slott and his team make you feel for Otto if even for the tiniest of moments. The art and sequences this issue are nothing short of spectacular. Camuncoli has done a fantastic job with this well-known and well-loved character. Slott has done an amazing job at showing us how much Peter Parker was missed and how much better he handled precarious situations. It's no secret that the ‘Hobson's Choice' situation of Amy Chen was a prelude to the larger one that Otto ultimately had to confront. While Superior Spider-Man has indeed given us some great stories to read having Parker back will be a breath of fresh air and begin a new era for our webbed hero. I personally thought that Otto's demise would have been some ugly act by one of Parker's villains, most likely the Goblin, with someone recovering Parker's memories. Instead, Otto heroically hands over the thrown to the one true Spider-Man. It seemed Otto's reign has ended not with a bang, but a wimper. Read Full Review

Overall this was a great issue which not only spotlighted the inner turmoil of an Ock who realizes that he was fooling himself into thinking he was Superior, but also was an eye opener for a Peter who has the capabilities to seize the world, figuratively of course. I'll easily admit that things come to a close for Octavius here too quickly. I wanted it to go on longer, to have there be more meaningful dialogue between him and Peter. But seeing the way he had accepted so quickly what must be done, what he himself has caused, and taking the responsibility for it by ending who he is in this form really is powerful. There's no surprises in Peter regaining control at the end, coming out of the other side of this with his memories intact and basically going back to who he is, but I'm hopeful that there's more to it than that. There's some good emotion to what Octavius goes through here and really understanding his love and desire to save Anna Maria carries it, even after seeing him abandon so many others recently in order to pursue his goals – and Anna Maria herself. The end may be near for SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN but the fight against the Goblins is far from it. Dan Slott is moving SpOck's story towards its end and you can't help but wonder if we'll be seeing more twists along the way. You will be glued to each page but one big development almost feels like it happens too quickly. This is something we'll have to wait until next month to see how it all plays out. If Superior Spider-Man has had a flaw, it might have been hubris - or at the very least, biting off more than it could chew. Dan Slott and company have put Otto Octavius through so much in so little of a time that it winds up leaving the reader feeling numb. But now that this creative team is tying it all back together, you can't help but warm up a little .Trading in characterization for high concept set pieces has always been a danger in comics, but with the return of Peter Parker, this series could be in for a resurrection in more ways than one. "Superior Spider-Man" #30 contains the move all of comic fandom has been expecting and most have been begging for, but Slott manages to give it heart and make it feel fresh, electric and invigorating while hitting the right notes to gain applause from comic readers the world over. Filled with moments sure to elicit panic, anxiety and pure elation, "Superior Spider-Man" #30 sets up the finale of "Superior Spider-Man" beautifully, bringing a fine close to a unique adventure. It also delivers an eye-opening twist in the Goblin's plot that I wasn't prepared to see and positions Spider-Man for more problems, excitement and adventure than one bi-weekly title could possibly contain over the course of a year. I have not been the biggest fan of Spider-Ock, but Dan Slott managed to win me over once again. Can something be absolutely essential while still feeling flat and unceremonious at the same time? There's no doubt that this creative team, who has given us so many great comics with Otto Octavius under the Spidey mask, is up to the task of capping this series off in a fitting way. The fact of the matter is that they just didn't do it here, in the very issue where they decided to bring the one true “Amazing Spider-Man” back. My criticisms of this issue betray just how good I think this series (and Dan Slott's run as a whole) has been, I know. Superior Spider-man has been Super Hero comics in its finest.

This issue really ties the whole concept of this book together. The first day this came out I was a skeptic, then I became a fan, than an uber fan. Now, I had a moment of enlightenment whilst reading, the true reason why this book came out.

I jumped on Superior Spider-Man title for the Goblin Nation story and have been impressed. This issue really stands out.

A fantastic issue that brings the concept full-circle, celebrating what's great about Spidey while allowing great character growth for SpOck. Some iffy, inconsistent art brings this down a notch.

A memorable issue when Otto finally departs.

Peter's journey back is well realized but I feel like Otto's exodus was rushed and didn't hit the emotional arcs that it could have when I think back on how well realized AMS #700 was. All those Superior Spider-Man holdouts will be happy, but those of use that have taken this journey with Otto might feel a little disappointed.
