XENO'S ENDGAME - THE OMNI-MUTANT!
It's all been leading to this - XENO's showdown with X-FORCE, and the terrible truth of their horror-show experiments! WHO, or WHAT, is the OMNI-MUTANT?!
If you're looking for closure, X-Force #38 offers plenty as Percy's narrative closes the door on a long-running threat. Domino seems to have grown, while Beast shows he's even more evil than anyone would like to admit. Purchase X-Force for fun action, great Deadpool hijinks, and some closure for Domino. X-Force #38 ends a long-running plot that has been built since the first issue. Percy, Gill, GURU-eFX, and Caramagna give readers a hell of an ending, balancing action, plot, and character. This book has been burning it up, and this story keeps that up. Read Full Review
After finding out last month who Xeno was, we get no more details about his background or his purpose, nor do we see any of his sleeper cells. Why? Well, because the ragtag, thrown-together X-Force team of Domino, Omega Red, and Deadpool manage to take down Xeno something that they never could do in the past with Wolverine and an Omega Level mutant but magically were capable of now. Readers, I said it before and Ill say it again, maybe we just need some new blood on this title to spice up the team and the plot. Read Full Review
The action itself is adequate with mutated monsters attacking the team, but there's little invention in the violence and the monster's designs never get past the stitched-together sort of affair on the cover, less much of the useful detail. Read Full Review
The conclusion of this story arc was a long time coming. It has been built up, dropped off and picked up again so many times that it made me very happy to see some definite closure on several plot points. Domino gets her vengeance, the stolen baby issue gets reconciled, and Xeno and the Peacock Man are defeated in a way that is satisfying but could allow for some form of it to return if the writers feel so inclined. There are some little character bits that show the growth of the cast here, particularly with Domino and Omega Red, which makes me very interested in seeing how they continue to change and develop in future issues. My only gripe was that this could have been extended one more issue because it was pretty busy. So glad for an X-Fomore
This continues to be such a consistently great book. The xforce team continues to go through changes but get the job done. I definitely think we will see more of this villain in the future in some fashion in the future. This volume of x-force has been consistently fantastic! I hope Benjamin Percy stays on this and wolverine for as long as possible because he clearly understands the characters he is writing and he tells large scale exciting and complex stories that aren't rushed and unravel over time in such a perfect way.
The Xeno plot coasts to a smooth conclusion, though it's not particularly surprising or intense. Fortunately, the art remains excellent and the point of view digs just deep enough into Domino's head to give the issue the engaging hook it needs.
A little surprised to find out that this storyline is ending so soon after the reveal of the Man with the Peacock Tattoo’s identity (literally one issue ago). That said, this was a little underwhelming, but I still liked it. I continue to like the focus on Domino and I hope that doesn’t go away moving forward.
Well... that was sort of a wet paper bag of an ending. It's a shame since X-Force has been really good lately. Hopefully we can just move past this.
It should have been the epic final showdown... and it just feels like the ending of a normal story. Maybe Percy has dragged this for too long and it has lost its momentum.
Was the ending to the Xeno arc really disappointing to anyone else? The Genegineer reveal kind of took all the air out of the story for me. That was only compounded by the fact that his ultimate plan was to create a Frankenstein'd mutant. It's all just falls flat considering how powerful this organization has been shown to be, especially early on in this series. The Deadpool stuff was solid though, and I'd like to see Percy get a shot on the solo title at some point in the future.
