It's still underwhelming. The book seems to be dragging a lot. And I get the feeling that this was initially something like a mini that got adapted into a maxi series that once more got adapted into Batman. Or that this is the outtakes of a story that was split in two. Will wait for a couple of issues more but frankly this is still not working.

Bought both #1 and #2 so gonna post the same review. This is a stellar book. As others point out it's bombastic and not decompressed at all, good art, good action, good thrills!

Harley and Ivy fans got done dirty with this. Got into the series cause my gf buys it. Whether you are a shipper or not, this is a bad ending.

A creepy twisted little gem. This is one of the best Black Label books coming out. Black Label done right.

9/10 for the EXCELLENT art. -9/10 for the writing. I don't blame Tom King though. I get it now. He got pulled off his book and he is taking the piss at DC. But he is alienating his fans. We get a recap of things we know. That's all. A recap. And a small twist that changes nothing. Both the solicit and the cover have absolutely nothing to do with the plot.

Art is gorgeous. Batman continues to be one of the best drawn books. Which is a shame because while the art carries the story forward, there isn't a lot of story here. We are seconds before the book ends and the (SPOILER) has completely lost it's impact. A lot of continuity errors too. How is Batman ok hours after being shot? Or Catwoman after getting snapped? There is no finesse anymore. Neither the solicit nor the cover have anything to do with the story. Despite not progressing the story and being decompressed, this issue feels rushed. It's definitely better than the previous issues which is good but the book desperately needs a new editor.

Average. Despite being a six issue series, not a lot of things happen here and everything feels rushed. Good premise, bad execution. It's worth a reading but don't expect too much.

Tomasi had a good start with Detective Comics but lately either everyone got lazy at DC or something is happening with the editors. I don't want to go into spoilers but the story is boring despite trying to be a nod to the edginess of the 90's. Tomasi has a problem writing women. They always feel stiff and (while I disagree with the overuse of the term) a bit misogynistic? Robotic?

Yet another filler issue. The good: The art is excellent in every aspect. This is a beautifully drawn book. The bad: #82 is pretty much a big fight scene and it STILL fills like a filler issue. Even the "twist" is something everyone expected from #81. We have three more issues to go and we are presented with a filler issue. The editor should have combined #80, #81 and #82 into a single issue. Definitely better than #81 but still the plot is not moving forward. Or better: there is no plot. And... the... dialogue... we... get... it... I'm afraid King is saving everything for Batman/Catwoman.

The worst part of the book is that it got published. It feels rushed, the twist here is just incomprehensibly stupid and based on tons and tons of pure luck. But the worst part of it is that it clashes with the previous 20 or so issues. It's hard to decide whether this or Heroes In Crisis is Tom King's lowest point. What started as an interesting story ended up being filler after filler issue with ridiculous (even for a superhero comic book) plot and twists. Tom King is a talented writer. But Batman is definitely not a book that shows his talent.
