This is another solid issue bringing us closer to the end. This has been an arc for the ages, a modern classic! Love Lapham's take on Supergirl. What did you all think? Read Full Review
Johnsons Superman is the Superman I want to see. He is consistently idealistic while being grounded and accessible, intelligent and just as importantly, wise and absolutely kind, compassionate, and good to the core. Not only that, he is all of these things in a way that is aspirational without turning Clark into a flawless mannequin character. And honestly, what more could you ask for from Superman? Action Comics #1045 is yet another great story, both in the main and back-up. The creative teams are hitting hard, and other than a few weaknesses in the art in the main story, this is a great read. Read Full Review
It's clear that Johnson is drawing from two main sources herehis military background in this story of building a resistance from the ground up, and his work on The Last God in designing truly disturbing alien kaiju. It all comes together into a truly iconic Superman tale. Read Full Review
Art consistencies aside, this was another strong installment of Action Comics. Im ready for the big rematch of Mongul and Superman and Johnson has certainly set it up to be a meaningful encounter. Read Full Review
Superman is very much peak Superman here in terms of his character and humanity (even if his powers are failing) and it makes for an incredible read to see this kind of humanity in a dark time, especially considering it's simultaneously still very much unclear how it will all end. Read Full Review
Action Comics #1045 provides the next chapter of the Warworld Saga as Mongul's retaliation brings new dangers for Superman to face. The writing was solid as Superman continues to be a strong element that keeps the revolution alive as we see them execute the next step of their plan while facing Mongul's forces. Even without Riccardo Federici's art, the comic still looks good thanks to Will Conrad and Brent Peeples' art and Lee Loughridge's colors. Read Full Review
Even when the series isn't great, it gets Superman at a level that it elevates the story. Read Full Review
Action Comics - 9/10
Backup - 8.5/10
Worth a comeback, the whole Hercules/Kratos quest vibes was too much to ask for. Plus the twists, artwork, ending and much more was pure out of the moon stuff. Really got fascinated with this one. Waiting for an epic finale
Finally getting to the end and the tone has changed from downtrodden to hopeful. Overall a very good entry with still some art work being messy or not coherent with the story being told. Ending is a great cliffhanger. The backup story is really well done with nice “old school art. Also it to has a great setup.
A slight but noticeable downgrade from the last issue. While I am still enjoying the main story, it was a slight bit of jumbled this go around. I did really enjoy the ending though, and I hope it delivers next issue. The backup was really enjoyable. It had a nostalgic feeling to it for some reason, even though it's supplementary to the main story. It just hit the right notes for me, random as that is.
Still a really interesting story, but it sure is losing its traction.
Feels like the story is stalling.
I am so over this storyline. They have dragged and dragged this story out so far that there's literally nothing left. I understand that they did it to get to 1050, but as a reader I now dread having Action in my pull for the week. But I've gone this far as might as well see it to the end. Plus I'm tired of paying $5.00 for an additional ongoing story that I didn't ask for. Detective does the same thing.
