They want Jon as the only Superman, and they must not figure this book will sell as well after he takes his father's place.
The Man of Steel and the Dark Knight need time to recover from their manic melee through the Archive of Worlds, but the heroes won’t rest for long! Despite the efforts of new friends El Diablo and Alanna, Auteur.io, the cybernetic architect of these alternate realities, seems to have the upper hand! And to make matters worse, the Archive of Worlds unleashes its most horrific story ever put to magic-infused celluloid: the dark and twisted tale of that demon from the depths: Etrigan!
I thought this was a pip of an issue. I just love these new worlds. I love the metacommentary. I love the art. Perhaps Yang is an auteur of unrivaled vision? Read Full Review
What more can I say? This book has it all: suspense, adventure, friendship, actual stakes, humor, tension, all of it. The writing is top notch and so is the art. Don't let the fact that this title is getting canceled in September stop you from picking this up and enjoying the heck out of it. Enthusiastically recommended! Read Full Review
This inventive series only has two issues left, unfortunately, and Gene Luen Yang's run will only be one extended arc. What a relief it is, then, that it's such a unique arc that it'll leave an impact on the DCU on its own. Read Full Review
Final Verdict: savor every panel of this title, for it won't be around much longer. Read Full Review
While my interest in the main villain is waning a bit, twists like Etrigan have kept me invested in the overall narrative, and I'm quite curious how much crazier things will get before the issue reaches the climax. Read Full Review
This is a hell of a lot of fun and he is just letting loose. The art by Ivan Reis is tops as well. I am loving where this is going. Read Full Review
Batman/Superman #20- Past issues have been in a crescendo to this issue, but I felt like Kamandi in 2021"things just don't belong here. Here's hoping that we get back to a bit more timeline type adventure we can all get behind as Superman and Batman have a lot going in their respective books. I would love for this book to dive deeper into what they are respectively confronting right now! Read Full Review
an absolute blast from start to finish. Cowboy Superman giving Robin a ride on his shoulders? Yes please!
I will miss this series/creative team when this ends. For now, it's a hell of a run!
I can’t believe this series is ending. Why is this series ending!
This is still extremely fun. My physical collection is lacking a whole lot of DC, but this is definitely a story arc I'll have to buy the physical collection of.
Dick is such a fun Robin; I should have been born in the 30's!
I'm never not going to enjoy creatives just having a good time with their content. The inclusion of different guest characters, while using many elements just feels kind of good. Like the Fortress's giant key and Etrigan hurling it at the door, it's impossible not to be impressed. Plus I always find myself amused by the rhyming.
Better than the last issue, but I think it's about gotten to that point now where the story's slowing down and should finish soon. As usual this book is better than any of their solo titles, so it will be sad to see it go. I've never seen Yang do a solo Batman adventure, but since Tynion's leaving maybe DC should consider him as as the next writer in Batman if he's game. The same for Reis if they'll need another artist. Just a thought.
I totally understand now why DC is cancelling this book. What started as something fun became more and more of a chore. You can only keep doing the same thing for so long until it becomes too boring.
