Welcome to the 25th century, where the Earth is a polluted post-industrial nightmare, most animals are extinct, and reptilian aliens are invading cities across the planet! In their time of need, the world's citizens turn to the time-traveling Booster Gold to save the day. To learn why these aliens are seeking revenge, Booster dives deep into the prehistoric past to see what happened the last time they hit the planet. In this bygone era, Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble must help Booster learn the truth and return to his own time armed with the information that will bring down the invaders - if Booster can convince them to help him. No problemore
The art is sublime. The story wacky and yet poignant, in a crazy way. It's fun, funny, and is combines two of my favorite things: Booster Gold Comics and old Hannah Barbara cartoons. Read Full Review
That Mike and Laura Allred cover! Nuff said! The Gotham City of 2472 (specifically the kid running around in the Joker mask).Holy Gygax! (All hail Dungeons & Dragons)The perfect balance of the seemingly light tone to make some very pointed and dark observations.Rick Leonardi, Scott Hanna, and Steve Buccellato creating some crisp, clean, and beautiful art.The bit with the ATM that has artificial intelligence. The banter between Booster and Skeets (never gets old!)The one-panel joke with the Batman Security guard on page 7 (check out his arm placement). The reaction the Flintstone gang has to Booster and his personality.Mark Russell actually created a tightly crafted, clever, meaningful and humorous time-travel story. Its theology, you wouldnt understandDont let the far out concept keep you from checking this book out. Its a total breath of fresh air, and one of the funniest books Ive read recently. Get on it now! Read Full Review
Did you know that if you put $10 in the bank in 1966, by 2472, you will have $3.8 billion? Nice. This is a fun one off that is worth your time and money. It is a nice set up for the new Jetsons comic that will most likely be essential reading for those of us who have totally loved the Hanna Barbera lineup. Read Full Review
The Jetsons back-up was interesting, as well, even though I am not familiar with the Jetsons at all. It was basically a story about euthanasia, but done in a really cool futuristic way, which I don't want to spoil. I personally always think they should just be fun, well-written stories and both of these stories do really deliver. Read Full Review
If your a fan of the type of character Booster Gold is, buy it immediately. If you only want it for The Flintstones, best to save your money on this one Read Full Review
This is a solid issue with the crazy humor of Russell mixed in with an interesting take on the Jetsons. Together, this is one to pick up and has a lot of depth mixed in with the humor. Read Full Review
"Booster Gold/Flintstones" #1 is a blast and fits in with "The Flintstones" very well. It's a one shot not work passing up if you're reading the series and if you miss Booster Gold (like me) you'll feel that void filled. Read Full Review
Excellent artwork, entertaining characters, good humor, and fun with time travel. What more could one ask for out of a crossover like this? Read Full Review
The insides match the outsides as this book delivers exactly what you'd expect from a crossover between these two comic stars. Read Full Review
It really is that good and that entertaining, and nothing should be allowed to bring it down. Booster Gold/The Flintstones Special #1 lives up to its title completely, because it truly is special.Booster Gold Read Full Review
Equally odd is the comic's back-up story involving the re-imagined Jetsons who, once again, bare little resemblance to the TV characters from whom they take their name. If you, like me, are picking up the comic for some wacky Booster Gold action, you should have fun. If you are hoping for recognizable versions of the Hanna-Barbara cartoons, however, you will likely be disappointed. For fans. Read Full Review
Overall I was pleasantly surprised. Booster Gold meeting The Flintstones is a fun and goofy read that I wasn't expecting to have fun with. The art isn't anything to write home about but it complements the story quite well. If you don't read any of the DC/Hanna Barbera crossovers this week, this is the one to read.8/10var linkwithin_site_id = 2203111; Read Full Review
All in all, Booster Gold/The Flintstones is an entertaining romp that features one of my favorite DC characters wreaking havoc throughout time as he is wont to do. This isn't Ben Caldwell's most poignant scripting, but the story is plenty of fun and deftly visualized by the artistic team. If you buy one of the four DC/Hanna-Barbera crossovers this week, let it be Suicide Squad/The Banana Splits. If you buy two though, this is the other one that you should peel off the shelves. While it is fun to see the worlds of Booster Gold and The Flintstones collide together, this largely feels like a Booster Gold comic. With The Flintstones being a small piece of the puzzle. We do get to see a lot of Bedrock as a background throughout the comic, however, that is about it. Read Full Review

Mark Russell's script isn't always as funny as it's trying to be, but some of the gags do land, especially when dealing with Booster's fellow time travelers. Read Full Review
DC Bring Back Booster!! That being said this issue wasn't terrible but I was expecting more as the Flintstones satire and Gold's wackiness offered a great pairing. The writing was the strongest part of this issue as the interaction between characters was enjoyable and often comedic. The art offered a Saturday morning feel but often looked incomplete with detail missing from the background. Read Full Review
The highlight of this book for me was actually the Jetsons sidestory. This story invoked thoughts of the season 3 "San Junipero" episode of the television series Black Mirror. I don't want to give anything else away. I could see the surprise coming, but boy was it an interesting surprise. If you are a fan of the Jetsons, you owe it to yourself to read this.It also made me think of how well the Jetsons futuristic theme could be used to tell interesting stories when presented with maturity, as shown in this issue. Overall, this Booster Gold/Flintstones crossover is a fun book that fans of either series should enjoy. However, The Jetsons story was the standout for me. Read Full Review
Overall, Booster Gold/The Flintstones Special #1 is not the strongest crossover offering, but it isn't a terrible experience either. The biggest problem with this book is thatThe Flintstones has been so phenomenal that seeing them take a backseat to Booster Gold, even for one crossover story, is unsatisfying. Fans of Mark Russell's ongoing series may be disappointed but Booster Gold fans will likely enjoy this issue. Read Full Review
Even at its best all we could have expected from these crossovers were some lighthearted fun. For the most part that is what we got, but the use of death was hard to ignore. A lot of morbid situations were just laughed off by the characters and it felt weird because of it. This comic asked to be taken more seriously than it should have. Read Full Review
For someone that has never been that big of a Booster Gold fan, I thought that this crossover was surprisingly good. The Jetsons issue in the back was also very interesting and I feel that it is a good setup for anyone that is interested in reading it when it comes out.
Amazing issue. The humor is spot on and there is even a little message about revenge. My only problem is the art and the flintstones role. The art kinda tries to be cartoony, but it doesn't work. And The Flintstones don't do much. This issue is focusing mostly on Booster Gold, but I still think it's great, because I loved the back-up issue and it focuses on Booster gold soooooo well.I can't wait for the Jetsons and if they make a Booster Gold rebirth series I want Mark Russell to write it.
Such an enjoyable issue! It's more fun than the rest of the series but less thoughtful. Most importantly, we can now consider that the Flintstones are part of the DCU (at least I will).
What a crazy comic. I want to see Crabulon get his own series, he's awesome. The Jetsons story is surprisingly good too, it might actually be worth checking out when it comes out.
Mostly throwaway. Stick with the rich satire of The Flintstones monthly comic.
