As the battle between Levi and Jacob comes to a head, the future of the Green-and so of all living things-is embroiled in existential conflict. And there are those who have learned to look for windows of opportunity in conflict. The true nature of Prescot’s machinations will become apparent even as their actions will put into question the very nature of the world we live in.
I bumped into V and Perkins at the Thought Bubble Conference in Harrowgate last month and both seemed to point to the other for the greatness of this series, humbly accepting praise in an uncomfortable manner from a geeky fan. Their work will be celebrated over the additional issues announced for this title but all I can say is what a way to finish 2021, that last panel is perfection. Read Full Review
The Swamp Thing #10, thankfully doesn't wrap up the series. Readers will be treated to another 6 issues! However, when we last saw Levi at the end of issue #9 he was in a bit of a mess. You'll have to read it to see how he gets out, but when you do, you will enjoy it! This is simply one of DC's best title's right now if not THE best. Read Full Review
The first season of 'The Swamp Thing' draws to a close with a heartbreaking battle of ideas that cements this run as one of the strongest in the history of the character. I can't wait to see what blooms in the spring. Bring on Season Two! Read Full Review
Ram V and Mike Perkins offer up epic scale superhero style action, existential encounters and more in another fast paced and intelligent issue of ‘The Swamp Thing'. Read Full Review
Perkins delivers some exciting and beautifully crafted imagery on every page of this issue. There are some great visual moments throughout and each page has something that is visually rich and engaging. Read Full Review
It's a shattering conclusion to this storyarc"but as expected, it's not the end of the story. Thanks to the audience response, we're getting six more issues of this excellent series. That allows Ram V and Mike Perkins to end this run on an ambiguous note, with Levi coming a little closer to understanding what he's become and an old enemy of Alec Holland's re-entering the fray to cause some trouble. DC Comics' THE SWAMP THING continues to be a beautiful and compelling series. Part of the magic of it comes from this creative team refusing to create something that's monotonal and bleak. Instead, they have created a series that has just as much hope as it has terror. The result is a balanced, poetic, moving series that thankfully is getting a well-earned extension. Read Full Review
Ram Vs 10th issue of The Swamp Thing offers a sense of hope in an otherwise bleak world. It promises a future for The Green, and I am looking forward to watch it all unravel in the coming issues. Read Full Review
The axiom that "it is easier to imagine an end to the world than an end to capitalism" has been attributed to many speakers, but regardless of where its roots lie, that idea continues to be explored in a variety of media, but few of them with the beauty of The Swamp Thing. Read Full Review
The Swamp Thing #10 concludes the brothers' battle while setting up the next storyline for the series. The fight between Swamp Thing and Hedera reaches its end and is illustrated well, while the comic does its best to bring more emotional impact to their fight. Some of it works, some of it doesn't, but it lands for the most part and the comic looks good from start to finish. Read Full Review
The Swamp Thing #10 is the early pre-finale (DC extended the book to 16 issues), where Levi fights for his life, his connection to the Green, and what's left of his family. The visuals are strong, and the action gives you plenty of big splashy moments, but the utter lack of emotional conflict between the two brothers is a shocking letdown. Read Full Review
This issue was supposed to be the last of the season, but luckily DC decided to extend for more six issues. And is great, because Ram V and Mike Perkins definitely know what're they doing with this great story. I liked the way how Levi finished the conflict with his brother (he doesn't want to fight, after all) and all pieces are still in the game. Can't wait to see what comes next.
This wasn't quite the grand conclusion I had hoped for this run's "first season," but I don't think it's really meant to be that. It's still a really good issue, but I'm also interested by the setup we get for "Season Two." We have Levi's resurrection, the return of Woodrue, and Jennifer being fired from Prescot. I'm really interested to see where this story goes within the next six issues, and I can only hope it tops "Season One."
DC making the right move and giving this series 6 more issues is so awesome. If Ram V and Perkins want to keep this going for another 20-30 you could sign me up right now. Levi’s growth as the avatar of the green the last 10 issues has been some of the strongest character work in cape comics this year.
You know its a good comic when the first few pages get you hooked. So excited for next "season", keep up the good work Ram V and Perkins!
"The Swamp Thing extends his roots. In strife and turmoil, will they thrive? Or will they be caught in the ever-turning gears of the great machine?"
This may be the best Swamp Thing series since New 52.
Yeah... this is not interesting to me.
