The Terrifics disband, but they're going to need to get back together if they're going to save Mr. Terrific from Doc Dread's new team, the Dreadfuls! Plus, Rex Mason takes a huge plunge, Phantom Girl bolts Bgztl and Plastic Man stretches out the family drama with his son Luke, who's struggling with his own super-elastic powers. Will our heroes reunite in time to save Mr. Terrific-from an evil version of themselves?!
This issue stands out as one of the week's best, which is saying something considering that this weeks also sees a number of other stellar books being released. Lemire has taken an odd selection of second-string heroes and created a team book that outshines most of DC's flagship titles. Read Full Review
Yet another beautiful homage to the Silver Age from Lemire and company while the title evolves into something truly special. Bogdanovic adds the heart the series commands while adhering to the larger scale scripts Lemire commands. Standing as the final title left from the year old imprint, this series has grown to be a fan favorite and a new alternative for an old classic. Read Full Review
This issue continues the brilliant storytelling from the duo of Lemire and Bogdanovic. Read Full Review
Lemire has two more issues to go before handing the book off to Gene Luen Yang. The Terrifics remains an enjoyable read this month, but it's been so consistently entertaining the bigger surprise would be if it was anything less. Read Full Review
Visually, this is some of the best work of Viktor Bogdanovic's career, and it's likely this whole run will go down as an underrated DC classic to come out of a near-defunct line. Read Full Review
It feels like the next issue will be the one to bring the team back together. And though I am looking forward to that moment, this issue did a superb job handling them individually. Read Full Review
The Terrifics seems like a series that just keeps slowly chugging along in the background of what is happening at DC. It just quietly keeps going while consistently being good. This issue, in particular, was just a heck of a good time and a fun read. That is not an easy task as The Terrifics #12 is a mid-story arc issue, but Lemire shows his veteran status and just delivers a delightful superhero issue. Read Full Review
Viktor Bogdanovic's art is great. I really loved the Plastic Man moments the best because they involved so much detail visually. Read Full Review
Each character gets to go through their own personal crucible, and their arcs play well into the natural endgame. It's fun to see the best versions of these characters slowly realized and seeing them accept the call to be heroic when the cards are on the table. It's fun, and it's still consistently making me smile so maybe you will too. Read Full Review
This month gave us yet another engaging issue of The Terrifics. These moments that our cast have had to themselves was worth the wait for everything that was there to go back to. Being a hero and having a personal life is always going to be easier said than done. It helps to also make that statement in a team book where no matter where you turn, the problems are bigger than yourself. Read Full Review
The Terrifics finds new life this issue; let's see if they can keep up the positive momentum. Read Full Review
Threatened by a far more interesting team of villains, the Terrifics have to figure out how to fill out an entire issue so the thing we know will happen occurs on the last page. Does Linnya have enough character development to support her own side story? Does anyone remember Mr. Terrific's sob story that he revealed like eight issues ago? For three bucks, you can find out! 12 issues in this series so far, plus one annual and ive enjoyed all of them. Its simple, nothing that i havent seen before, but its fun, a well done cliché.
""Greg Capullo"" doesnt draw my favorite Metamorpho, but his art is still very good.
That's what you call character development. Damn, was this issue personal and well thought out. Even if some small elements from it may seem a bit cliche, for example Linnya being forced to marry someone for political reasons and not surprisingly running away, it all has a place in the story and just fits. It's the moment of crisis that comedies often feature - meaning usual funny stuff takes a break and lets some drama, conflict and uncertainty in. It doesn't feel forced or fake - quite contrary.
I loved this issue, even if it contains tropes we've seen millions of times before.
Always a fun series! 😆
Great character moments again, leading to the reunion, which, hopefully, should be in the next issue. Bogdanovic's art was great as usual.
Metamorpho can never catch a break. Poor guy.
"You wanna join a super-hero team?"
Still waiting for someone to ask me that.
The Terrifics #12 perfectly blends together drama with heart. With great dialogue, it touches on things like family, relationships and basically how sometimes it is hard to deal with people, superpowered or not.
That and Bogdanovic's slightly exaggerated and great art make this issue incredibly fast read. I don't need to add enjoyable right? I think it's implied.
I just wonder about one thing after this one. Where do you report when another hero takes your supercar?
Since the beginning I'm mixed about lemire terrifics story. Some are great but some like this arc aren't what I looking for. It's not very original. Well made, but too "déjà vu"
I really like his dreadfull charcters. But I think he loose to many panel on Phantom girl or Rex stories. This time the Plastic man part was better through.
Cover - Related and Nice 2/2
Writing - That was nicely done, but not enough originality or the spirit I wait from it. Better than the Fantastic four for sure. 2.5/3
Arts - Still beautiful even there is some panel with any background. 2.5/3
Feeling - Mixed. I wait the new writer to see if a new energy will make it the perfect FF title. 1/2
Definitely favorite issue of the series! We get a little bit of each of the Terrifics but enough to make it he solid! The artwork and dialogue were great! Highly recommend this issue!
This was actually pretty good. I actually cared about the characters for once. We need more of this and less aping of Fantastic Four and crazy plots that lead nowhere.
I think that this comic is so close, but the emotional stakes just aren’t quite here, everything feels very basic and a little empty, I wish we had gotten something a bit more serious with Luke, or even like a second more from Rex.
