Though Wonder Woman (2016-) #48 is more of a means to get from the previous issue to the next, there is still plenty to enjoy! Robinson has finally brought the heroes together to help Jason defeat The Dark Gods, but not before some really great fight scenes. As for the art, Merino's work is grade A terrific! The Dark Gods plot has been pretty interesting so far. We were promised that we'd see the after effects of the Dark Metal plot, and they kept true to their word. So far this has been the most interesting side effect, but we'll likely see more with time. It'd be nice to know where the Justice League went, as well as the rest of the Dark Gods. It seems like a lot of filler between this issue and the last to simply get us to this point. And the filler doesn't seem to have significant impact to the story. Things come and get knocked out. While I was initially interested in this Dark Gods story, I have to say that my interest is waning with each issue and this one has got to be the worst one yet.  Yeah, the art is good, but the story just feels off in both progression and pacing and by the end you realize that the only reason that this issue exists is to throw the Dark Gods names at you and that's about it. This book has all the trappings of a story with some real potential. The Dark Gods are a little on the mustache-twirly side, but still a solid threat with an interesting build up. The guest stars make sense. The art is solid and keeps the story flowing. But this issue was a stall out for an already slow pace. And for whatever reason Robinson refuses to write Diana for more than a couple of pages in her own book. Maybe there is a master plan in here somewhere, but I cant find it. Read Full Review

I didn't enjoy this issue. The art is great and there is some spectacle to be had in the action. But the Dark Gods are a generic threat. In the end, Robinson is failing to sell this story to readers when hes barely gotten to the point of the arc three issues in. It also feels like the readers have seen this from Wonder Woman before. The whole story seems uninspired, as if Robinson is just trying to fill his time left on the book. Hopefully, he finds inspiration as he moves forward, because he is a talented writer (Starman is one of the best comic book stories of all time as a whole), but so far, this story is dead on arrival. Wonder Woman #48 is a little insulting in how padded it is. Nothing of value happens, and I knew it since the ending of #47. The story waits until Diana can return to save the day, leaving us to watch an uninteresting character in Jason. Merino and Fajardo Jr. make it a pretty comic, but that doesnt save the day.
