OverallA solid third issue in the storyline that gives Spider-Man a clue about what may have poisoned him. I loved the back-and-forth between Spidey and Itsy Bitsy, as well as the flashbacks to Spider-Man's corrupted memory of the incident with Uncle Ben's old army jacket. Read Full Review

Drugs helped Itsy Bitsy cope with life. Illicit chemicals enable Peter to connect the dots in his investigation. But Peter's brainstorm worries his friend Brian, who breeds magic mushrooms for a living. And despite Peter's plea, Norman says, “No more.” As Peter struggles to discern reality, the drugs twist his childhood memories into an unending nightmare in Amazing Spider-Man #3. Read Full Review

Spideys throwdown with Itsy Bitsy is filled with hallucinations and heroics. Kellys writing is hitting every mark fans could want. Larraz and Garcia crank up the volume on the action with the art. It warrants saying one more time: SPIDER-MAN IS BACK BAY-BAY!!!! Read Full Review

Amazing Spider-Man #3 continues Joe Kelly's emotionally grounded and stylistically ambitious take on Peter Parker, pairing kinetic, beautifully rendered action with a meaningful exploration of trauma and drug use. While not all the threads are fully developed yet, the issue succeeds in deepening the stakes, both physically and psychologically, for a younger, angrier Peter. Read Full Review

The Amazing Spider-Man #3 keeps the relaunchs hot streak going with an issue packed to the brim with greatness. From the art to the writing, the early days of this volume continue to get better and brighter with each sequential issue. Read Full Review

The Amazing Spider-Man #3 comes in strong with good dialogue and expressive art, but the short action sequence and lack of growth in Peter's characterization hold it back. Read Full Review

Amazing Spider-Man #3 is a chaotic mess in the best and worst ways. It's visually breathtaking, emotionally ambitious, and occasionally thrilling, but it also veers into off-putting weirdness and suffers from messy plotting. The ideas are strong, but the execution stumbles. If Kelly can pull these threads together soon, this arc could still deliver. But for now, it's more frustrating than satisfying. Read Full Review

As with the previous two issues, Amazing Spider-Man #3 is very much about establishing the voice Joe Kelly and Pepe Larraz are giving this series. They are doing so in a way that provides a reset point for Peter Parker while using the current status quo of the members of the cast. Read Full Review

The new Amazing Spider-Man has some interesting ideas sprinkled throughout, but they are overshadowed by an uninteresting and all-encompassing plot. Read Full Review

Amazing Spider-Man #3 is a weirdly uneven comic. Joe Kelly's central mystery about a Hobgoblin plot to poison people is picking up steam, and Pepe Larraz's art is fantastic. However, Itsy Bitsy's presence and weird affection towards Spidey is unwelcome and gross. Plus, there are too many coincidences to swallow to stay invested in the story. Bonus points for the art.
