I honestly couldn't even nit pick this book. Donny Cates continues to justify himself to me as my favorite Marvel writer of the past two years and this art team just adds to the experience exponentially. Read Full Review
Cory Smith does a great job with the art. It brings out the humor through the detailed facial expressions as well as frame the action beautifully. Read Full Review
Welcome to the Thunder Dome Rapture style. This is a fast paced captivating read that has left my head swirling and it brought a movie slogan to my mind. It is everything youve dreamed of. It is nothing you expect. With art and colors that are just phenomenal but a villain with questionable motivations I can only give Read Full Review
Cates' GOTG is a doom metal soaked blast. Read Full Review
This cliffhanger in this issue was almost too predictable, although the reveal itself was as metal as anything else you'll see this week. Read Full Review
Some comic series have issues that can stand on their own and be a decent story in and of themselves… some you really need to have at least a few of the other issues to get a good hold on what's going on… or to really enjoy the story that is being lain out. I feel this fits in the latter of those two categories. It's fine as a part of a story but I don't think this single issue is really enough to get into the meat of all that is going on. That isn't a bad thing… it just means that you will be left eagerly awaiting the next issue… which given how this one ends, should be quite a ride! If you've been following the series I'd say it's a no brainer… you will want this in your collection… if you haven't… maybe pick it up… or wait for a collection of the entire story. Read Full Review
Guardians of the Galaxy #9 suffers a tad from decompression, but at the same time that's an almost natural side effect of being the third chapter in a six-part story. But it's still a solid read; anyone looking to check out the Guardians done right after a hit-or-miss run by the book's previous author would do well to check this out! Read Full Review
Cory Smith continues to bring life to this book. I may have found the story light but Smith put so much life into what little he had. Read Full Review
I really enjoy this book a lot.
Good issue as always.
Prelude:
While it's wrapping up soon to make way for Ewing, Cates still needs to finish this arc of GotG. Is he up for the task?
The Good:
Cliffhanger is interesting, that's for sure.
I enjoyed the whole "Peter vs. the World" dynamic in the issue.
While they are misguided, I do like the Universal Church of Truth's justification here.
The Bad:
Look, if you have to explicitly state who the cliffhanger is to ensure audiences aren't confused on who it is or why it's important, then you haven't written it well.... What do you mean I usually don't care for this exact scenario when reading Justice League? Really? Oh well, it's here anyway but no points lost then. You happy with that?

Donny "Always Good Except That One Time" Cates strikes again. This is one run that I am sad won't break the 20 issue ceiling™.
I like this series but I'm still not 100% in. I might bail on this soon if that last page reveal goes as I expect it to go. Too bad because the last issue was so good.
