PARENTAL ADVISORY
Hellions, the best series from "Reign of X," concludes on a note that is true to itself and makes Hellions one of Marvel's best modern series. Bravo. Read Full Review
Everything the Hellions tried to build comes crashing down in a truly tragic final issue that shows not only the flaws in Krakoa as a whole but showcases that this loveable flawed group of individuals found something greater with each other and within themselves. Truly this book is the one that has the most in common with classic X-Men books in tone while fully embracing and exploring this new status quo, by focusing on the characters themselves. Did HELLIONS ever fit into the overall plan of Hickman's vision? Probably not. But it never needed to. Like the characters, the series beat to its own drum and made me care for characters I should have never cared about. That alone should tell you how amazing this series was with a culminating issue that left the story in a great place. Id tell you to pick this issue up, but its too late you need the trade by this point. Dont wait, get it today! Let me know what you think, have a great week, and God bless! Read Full Review
Issue #18 brings a funny, yet heartwarming conclusion to the Hellions series. Read Full Review
Hellionsends the series just as it began: it's emotional, it's weird, and it's delightful. Read Full Review
Hellions #18 is the end to one of the best X-Men books being published. Wells sticks the landing with the writing, even doing some build-up for future books he wont be involved in. Segovia is his usual amazing, and Carloss art is perfectly fine if a little uninspired. All in all, this is a great ending that would have been perfect if Segovia drew the whole thing. Terrific series. Would've loved another 6-10 issues with these characters to really flesh them out even more, but overall I absolutely loved it. I hope we see more from them in the Destiny of X era.
I wish this book was continuing into the Destiny of X era. I really hope Zeb Wells didn't leave this book for the sake of Beyond alone, as that would honestly be a shame. I loved this series.
I am so sad to see the best X-MEN title go, seriously, this run was amazing.
The moment for Nanny being one of the MOST satisfying things I've read this year.
Zeb Wells knows how to use the KRAOKAN storyline set up in a way that I feel is very honest and thematically resonate, tapping into character individuality vs collectivism in a way that hits close to home.
By having us empathize and connect with a group of likeable psychos who may or may not deserve a second chance, Hellions truly balances the dark tone, comedic aspects, and moral grey area better than most books.
I'm going to miss this title and I hope wherever they are, Nanny and Peter find a way to get out and bring some hell.
Thank you Zeb Wells, thank you Stephen Segovia, thank you creative team. Hands down, the best X-Title during this era. With only 18 issues I've come to care about obscure (somewhat novelty) characters more than official X-Men members in the "main" books.
Such a good book...I'm going to miss this title and this bizarre team. 10/10 for the issue and 100/10 for the series.
Solid emotional story beats for everyone! Zub made me feel sad for... Nanny? Great conclusion to the best Hickman era series.
Fantastic emotional story beautifully written. Fantastic conclusion to a great volume of hellions
I am really going to miss this book! One of the brightest gems of the Krakoa era
Who would have thought this would be one of the best titles in the X line of books. Zeb Wells and Segovia did well!!
A bittersweet ending to one of the best titles in the Krakoa era. I'll miss this team a lot.
I'll agree that this series has been great. The finale isn't free of storytelling faults, though. The art is good but not memorable. The pace is indulgent and uneven; I think this might have been a tighter, better issue if it weren't bonus-sized.
That being said, this is an amazingly satisfying end to the story, showing off stellar character work all around. It's not just the Hellions, either; the Quiet Council and the X-Men are portrayed very well, too.
The satisfaction comes from rock-solid plot work tied tightly to the characters; this feels like a proper and earned ending for just about everybody.
I like Havok, Empath, Sinister and Nanny-- the rest of them I don't care about, but I do care about Zeb Wells's excellent writing and will sadly miss this series.
This series was better than Zeb Wells Spidey run.
The first two-thirds of the book are really not that great and the art is pretty bad. One thing I didn't like is how Nightcrawler asked for leniency for Orphan Maker, totally forgetting that he had no problem when Sabretooth got thrown into the pit for the same thing (if anything, Sabretooth was on a mission for Krakoa when he killed people, unlike Orphan Maker; yeah, I know it's Sabretooth but it's a clean slate and all that). It's the last third that gives all the characters a meaningful resolution. Honestly, this issue really wasn't that great but I give it a higher rating solely because this book has been, in my opinion, the best book after HoX-PoX. So while this issue was one of the weaker ones, overall I really liked Hellions and I'm more
