Immortal X-Men#16 delivers on everything that it needs to and more. As Gillen begins to wrap up plots, the Fall of X has also opened up new directions in the story. Every issue comes to expose more about each member of the Quiet Council, and the surprise twist at the end leaves years of content to be mined. While the book would benefit from trimming some sections to show more about the typical Krakoan, a book about the Quiet Council is meant to explore the Quoet Council and that is exactly what it does. Kieron Gillen's Immortal X-Men is going to go down as one of my favourite comic runs of all-time. He does such a brilliant job of giving each character a chance to shine and he's got a great voice for each of them. The art has been consistently great from the beginning too. I'd read any X-Men books Gillen writes from now until the end of time.

I think it's clear Gillen is the best X-writer in the stable right now.

I did enjoy this more than the last issue, but it still feels just a bit lacking and all over the place, at times, for me. However, I have the feeling that the next two issues are going to be really good. I like the stuff with Destiny and Mother Righteous in this issue, as well as the stuff with Charles and Sebastian. With Jean Grey set to take a larger focus in Issue 17, it has potential to be really good. Hopefully Gillen and Werneck are able to take this title back up to the heights it was at before Fall of X.

It's pretty decent. Has some good moments and a nice little twist. Just didn't feel like the issue had stakes.

Pieces are starting to fall into place and we got a giant-size cliffhanger that literally had me gasping. The mystery of how Charles defeated Shaw & Selene’s previous attack on Krakoa became even more mysterious and the final page leaves a lot of questions to be answered about what’s really been happening on Krakoa. The desert plot featuring Exodus, Hope, and Destiny felt rushed with so much happening at once and Mother Righteous has become such a focal point that it feels like we’ve lost some of what made this storyline so interesting. Between the weird island happenings (not to mention Xavier ending up in a bunker) and the reveal that the desert group may be stuck in purgatory in the White Hot Room, the issue gave me Lost vibes in the best possible way. more
