I think it was established near the start of Hickman's run that they leave certain imperfections intact for the sake of the mental wellbeing of the mutant. But I could be misremembering.
REMATCH!
Storm versus Calisto. This time, it's personal.

Just when it looks as if Marauders might take a step towards a filler story, it switches gears and ends up bringing a long-running arc to a fitting close and in many ways a new beginning. Read Full Review
This issue continues the trend of Marauders being the very best of X! Read Full Review
I wasn't sure what we were going to get out of Marauders #17 before picking it up, but I'm glad to see that this is still the same genuine book we were talking about before. Some things are changing, while others of course would stay the same. Read Full Review
I was hoping for something brand spanking new after X OF SWORDS. Read Full Review
Emma Frost and Kate Pryde's revenge tour continues as another mutant prepares to undertake the Crucible to regain that which was taken from them. Read Full Review
A pretty straight forward and low key issue of Marauders at least has a great Crucible scene. Read Full Review
Marauders #17 showcases both the strengths and weaknesses of the title so far. The clever writing and fluid art are let down by glaring character imbalances, making the reader forget that this is a team series. If Duggan begins to explore the potential of his complete line-up, this series could go from good to great. Read Full Review
Great full circle moment for Storm and Callisto here, as well a great way to bring Storm’s time in this book full circle. Given how many “great” Storm moments have just been a redux of their original duel, I’m also hoping this is full circle for the endless nostalgia loop in which Storm has been stuck since Claremont’s initial departure. It is time for a whole lotta new for Ororo.
I thought this was fantastic! I love the world building and development I am very excited for the next issue.
Emma starts preparations for the Hellfire Gala, Kate takes an interest in opposing Verendi's redevelopment of Madripoor, and Callisto gets her powers back in the approved "gladiatorial suicide" way, with Storm doing her the favor. This title has many irons in the fire, but they're all interesting. The prose is terse but memorable, the art is outstanding. I love this "courtly intrigue" focus; it's like DoX meets (the good seasons of) GoT.
Storm and Calisto's tumultuous friendship has always been a favorite of mine. This is a really good showcase of their relationship. Marauders is in serious need of a shake-up and I'm hopeful this issue marks a new beginning for Captain Kate and crew. Let's get back to more high seas adventures!

The businesses of the Hellfire Trading Company face a shakeup, with the White now taking over their black market sales. Emma prepares a state dinner at her recently erected compound, courtesy of Magneto, extending an invitation to the Verendi leadership. Meanwhile, with Apocalypse gone, Callisto faces a reluctant Storm in the Crucible and is reborn whole.
I love nitpicking certain aspects of resurrection. Like Calist more
" Emma--how many costume changes do you want ?"
I guess I'm alone in enjoying Marauders. I like the world-building, and fan-service, though it does come across heavy-handed at times. That said, I think this book is moving forward rather than falling behind.
This was pretty good.
Cool.
The art is good. The "stories" are not. What is this book even about anymore? Also nice to see Bishop... for a second.
Storm and Callisto's part was cool, love the weather changes with Ororo's emotions
Y'know, folks complained about the single-minded focus on Kate and that was a fair point, but this book was far more cohesive and interesting when it was all Kate all the time. As Duggan tries to acknowledge the rest of the cast this book has become terribly unfocused and the imbalance between which characters Duggan understands and which he doesn't is becoming pronounced. I really want this book to turn things around and make good on the promise of the first few issues, but after ten issues of saying that I'm starting to lose hope.
The way Dugan literally did nothing with Storm, Bishop and Iceman for 17 issues is upsetting. Thank God Storm is free. Emma Frost and Kate Pryde are the most dull and obnoxious duo right now.
I wished to like this one, but i's too dull.
I feel like I’m just getting more and more bored reading these X titles.
The writing is juvenile (classic Duggan) and the art is messy, I swear Kitty (not Kate) had a moustache in a panel. Come on, you're professionals!
Pure bore and bad fan-service
Character assassination at its finest and such a waste of money. The writing and story are just terrible.
Duggan making Storm participate in the crucible is so utterly disrespectful and out of character for her.
