The art by Javier Garron is stunning. Both the characters and backgrounds look great and there are some beautiful action scenes in this issue, especially Rhino and Miles vs Tombstone. Even the final reveal on the last page looked great both in composition and execution. Read Full Review
I am generally not a reviewer. I work mostly on the news side of Comic Watch. I only review books I am interested in. I generally don't review books that are ongoing I like minis, just because I focus on news and generally don't have time to review. We are not paid by Marvel,DC or any companies to give good reviews. I pick books I really want to review and have been lucky enough that they have been great books. The reason I say this, I am a fan of this book, It's an awesome book so far and I want everyone to go read it. Spider-Man fan or not I think everyone will enjoy this book. Although we are only on issue 2,Saladin seems to have a firm grasp on how to write Spider-Man. Read Full Review
The Spider-Man/The Rhino team up continues and they may need to work on their chemistry if they are going to rescue the kidnapped children. Miles is also wearing down from a lack of rest and sooner or later it's going to come back to bite him. Maybe the help of Captain America will lead to better results for Miles. Read Full Review
This new take on Miles is looking more and more positive with each issue. With another tag team on the horizon, the next issue is sure to be a fun one. After seeing what Ahmed has done with Miles and Rhino, I'm excited to see his upcoming take on a classic Avenger. Read Full Review
Objectively, this may not be the best Spider-Man comic you'll ever read, but it was exactly the comic I needed to read today. It doesn't hurt that it's also very good, but the impact for me was immeasurable. Sometimes the right comic (or song or whatever) can lift you, and Miles Morales: Spider-Man #2 has done that for me. So thank you, Saladin Ahmed. Thank you Javier Garron. Thank you David Curiel. Thank you for being the bright spot in a day that was, up until the opening of this comic, pretty shitty. I like the new direction they're taking for Miles Morales. He's starting to feel more distinct, even as he deals with characters from outside of his series. If anything, their appearances have done a solid job of showing us that fact. Read Full Review
The lack of history - and subsequent baggage - that Miles has actually works in his favor this time, allowing Ahmed to give Miles a partner that feels unexpected but organic. The resulting sparks are well worth your time. Read Full Review
A good second issue that hammers home a sometimes hilarious relationship between the older somewhat slow Rhino and the sharper but wet behind the ears Miles Morales. It's a fun book that defies your expectations. Read Full Review
The whole issue is just flat-out entertaining from start to finish and has all the hallmarks of a classic Spider-Man story. Read Full Review
As promised, this book focuses on a much more "Brooklyn-level" villain and story, which is a perfect direction for Miles now that he's the focus of millions of fans around the globe. Read Full Review
While less story progression is seen in this issue, MILES MORALES: SPIDER-MAN #2 succeeds at building its protagonist's emotional arc. It also gives some impressive depth to the Rhino beyond "Ivan Drago in an animal suit." Read Full Review
I love Miles and want to love this book but after a recap heavy first issue, Saladin Ahmed hits readers with a setup heavy #2. This book looks really good thanks to Javier Garrons art but it just isnt funyet? I hope that changes real soon because if not, I will drop it and thats a shame. Read Full Review
Spider-Man rolls deep into his Rhino team-up, with a healthy dose of Miles soap opera backing the costumed antics. With the introductory groundwork out of the way, this series goes straight into high gear. Javier Garrón's intricate art packs a lot of panels onto the page and Saladin Ahmed's script takes full advantage of the density. This issue has great character interactions. Spidey/Rhino is the star, but Spidey/Tombstone and Miles/Ganke are also noteworthy.
It seems with all the status quo setting done, this series can really start to shine. I really enjoyed this issue. Everyone's written very well. I especially liked Rhino in this issue. He's a very sympathetic character once you take a few steps back and really look at him. He never has gotten over the death of his wife and I think that's something that's never explored a lot. The last time I think it was mentioned was at the very end of Clone Conspiracy, when Rhino was having a breakdown over losing his wife-- again. Of course, that issue ended with Spider-Man telling Rhino that he'd help him get through the pain. I don't think that ever went anywhere, but maybe THIS Spider-Man can help him a little. Oh, and getting Cap involved in the end more
Great writing by Saladin Ahmed. He has the voices down for these characters even as the story is deconstructed a bit but it's the way it is these days.
The art is just splendid. Could not have been any better. Javier Garron and David Curiel gel well together!
So nice to have a fresh writer on the series. Ahmed really gets miles and is starting off wonderfully?
Great issue! Enjoyed the art and character interactions! Dialogue was pretty good as well. Just still trying to get over this new mature Ganke. Wondering how Captain America heard the location. Can tell the Vice Principal will be a character to watch out for, there is more to come with him.
I feel like Saladin Ahmed isn’t the most comfortable writing fight scenes but god bless he tried.
The Miles/Rhino duo work well. So well that I find bowering the part where Miles are in Class.
I don't like than like Peter his time of heroes affect is private life (It seem than only otto succeed to do both ! Maybe for underlining that he's truly superior).
I'm not fond of the badguy but I want to see the trio with cap.
Cover - I see what they mine. That he have to jongle with many thing. It's kinda related to what I read. But I not like it much. 1/2
Writing - Their is good in the story. Miles in school aren't in it. It slowing down the story too much. 2.5/3
Arts - I like what Garron do. But in this issue he use to much big panel without anything than the character & one color. 2.5/3
Feeling - Mixed, bu more
If you like your Spider-man boring, this is the book for you.
