This blood-pumping, hair-raising book has the pedal to the metal throughout the duration, and it doesn't let up. This title is one crazy ride. Read Full Review
Though it doesn't quite reach the dizzyingly creepy heights of the main series, Immortal Hulk: The Best Defense #1 is a wonderful side story for one of the best books Marvel has going right now. Read Full Review
A solid Hulk story due to its ingenious way of using classic Jack Kirby and Stan Lee panels. This story also changes the Hulk in a clever way, setting the stage for a new kind of hero once he joins his new team. Read Full Review
We've only gotten looks at 2 of our heroes and while Namor was a grand exploration of Atlantean lore, The Immortal Hulk hits all the right notes and is leading the pack by shining in tone and writing. Read Full Review
Immortal Hulk: The Best Defense #1 is, to no one's surprise, another awesome contribution from Ewing. His Hulk is great on his worst day. This issue does have a couple of weak areas, but they don't detract from the book very much. Di Meo and Sanchez-Almara are a great team, putting together pages that feel somber and full of strife. Like I said, fans of Ewing's Immortal Hulk should absolutely pick this up. Read Full Review
I was so surprised. This book was simply stunning. Read Full Review
It's not easy to do horror in a superhero setting, but this issue makes it feel effortless. Read Full Review
IMMORTAL HULK: THE BEST DEFENSE #1 is a mystery story. What it lacks in action, it more than makes up for in tension and a mounting sense of dread. Read Full Review
This was cool.
Another solid outing from Ewing. This manages to fit right in with Immortal Hulk's tone while still telling a larger story. The use of the original Hulk run's panels is actually an extremely clever narrative device. I enjoyed this very much. Makes me excited for this event that really came out of nowhere. Hopefully, the rest lives up to Al Ewing's Hulk, which is no easy task.
"Knock, knock"
It looks like Al Ewing can even make puny Banner scary.
Good stuff.
What was that? The art is shit and these occasional Incredible Hulk 1-6 frame flashbacks are sooooo weird and unnecessary... Maybe I'm too dumb to get the point here, but the story was really crappy. At least it was concentrated on Banner, which I wanted in the Immortal Hulk. But not in a story like this... He literally was like an unreasonable animal a whole issue long. The interlude was weird too... And the Strange is dead, he's not from Earth-616, so at least this isn't another his death before 2021.
