Though the last issue was the pinnacle of the entire series so far, Venom #6 is a fine entry point and a continuation as new readers can get the full story and those that have already punched their ticket get even more out of the story. Read Full Review
Venom #6 is more of a slow, cool down issue as Dylan, Sleeper, and the Venom symbiote go on the run. While they're lying low, the comic shows some of the bigger conspiracy elements unfold, but it's mainly setup with little action. While it's not the most thrilling issue, the comic does a fine job showing where the characters are at, and what's in store in the next issue. Read Full Review
I'm glad to have a series where Ram V can be read, this issue in particular is slow, however it's good writing.
Love the direction this is going, this may be the most well written venom story ever
A slow but, good issue. I like that it feels like things are building each issue.
It's slow. Good, but slow. It's hard to figure out what the big picture is, since this is kinda slow issue. But good.
An improvement over the previous two issues under V. (#3 & #4), but still not quite the best this series has seen. I was more interested in Dylan's story this time around and I really hope his side of this run continues to experience an upwards trajectory. I will say that I wish we had more Al Ewing writing Eddie at this point. Aside from the first issue that was written by both Ewing and V., four out of five issues thus far have been written by V. and only one out of five have been written by Ewing. I think switching back and forth every issue might be a better way to go with this concept, as Eddie's current story has felt a bit ignored at times. It also doesn't help the the next issue is also a Dylan-focused one written by V.
Maximum salt take: Ram V COULDA just posted "Started watching Sons of Anarchy" on Twitter, but nooooo…
Obviously, I'm not a fan of this new situation Dylan's stuck in. But a boring arc-premise is far from the only problem here.
The script is all tell, no show. All this is is people talking -- too verbosely, too Englishly -- about what has happened or will happen; virtually nothing actually HAPPENS in-panel in real time.
It's a testament to the artist's skill that he can lend this talky script the illusion of action, mainly with cool flashback splashes of Venom leaping around while the characters yammer on in captions.
