Highlights of this issue include a triple threat match between the Avengers, Defenders of the Deep, and Winter Guard. Lingering plot threads are highlighted including what happened to Loki and the prehistoric Avengers. Jason Aaron takes a break from the present day Avengers, to revisit the Prehistoric Avengers. Aaron this time focuses on the Prehistoric Ghost Rider. Jason Aaron must have had as much fun writing this issue as I did reading it, especially with his history with the Ghost Rider character. The tragic rise of this Ghost Rider was an exciting and entertaining story, which is a testament to strong writing and art. We probably haven't seen the last of these prehistoric heroes, and their actions in the past will probably continue to have effects on the present day Avengers.

The mystery of the Ghost Sector is slowly but surely being solved by the Justice League Odyssey team. The more answers they receive however, the more strange things become for them. With "Ghosts of the Past" completed, hopefully the book can move forward and towards more interesting subject matter. I find Jessica Cruz a very interesting character but this arc regarding her past did not consistently find its footing. The dynamic between Jessica and Simon was strong throughout, but inconsistent and at times ugly art, wordy dialogue, and unnecessary guest appearances bogged this arc down. Despite these issues, I remain interested in the future adventures of Jessica Cruz and Simon Baz.

The Green Lantern Corps are triumphant. Cyborg Superman and the Ravagers have been defeated. Hal Jordan has been redeemed. Now the Corps and the Guardians have to rebuild and determine what the future is for the protectors of the universe.

The predicaments the Green Lantern Corps found themselves in in previous issues seem to have been resolved and hopefully they can now get back into the fight. Hal and Guy found themselves in situations that I found fascinating initially, but the way Venditti decided to resolve their plights left a lot more to be desired for me. I continue to not really care about anything involving Kyle, but I was disappointed to not see any John Stewart in this issue. Luckily (or maybe unluckily) for the Green Lantern Corps, the Darkstars are on the attack and this can provide an opportunity for the Lanterns and their recruits to retaliate.

This issue goes a long way towards furthering the development of Jessica Cruz the person, not just the Green Lantern. Unfortunately, Simon Baz is not given the same amount of shine to develop as a character on his own. I enjoyed Seely digging into Jessica's background and "Deal with the Devil" she is faced with in this issue. Maybe the issue would have been better off as a solo Jessica adventure instead of throwing Simon into a silly subplot. Hopefully this arc integrates Simon more while continuing to shed light on Jessica's past.

Hal Jordan's adventure takes another bizarre turn as Hal Jordan finds himself trapped in his power ring. Grant Morrison uses a unique writing style this issue that may not be easy for some readers to follow. Luckily, Liam Sharp continues to provide excellent artwork for this series.

This annual issue seems unnecessary and a distraction until the next arc of Green Lanterns begins. The plot for the most part is dull with the exception of some action and backstory given towards the end of the issue. The art is rough for the majority of this issue. The next arc needs to begin immediately.

The Outsiders are being torn apart by Ra's Al Ghul's scheming. Batman is trying to hold the team together without putting them in harm's way. After an explosive first issue to this arc teasing a major confrontation between members of the Green Lantern Corps, the second issue in the arc ends the excitement with a whimper. Characters we don't care about take some of the spotlight, and plot threads are unraveled way too easily. The art in this issue is enjoyable, but it is not enough to make this issue salvageable. The inconsistency in this book continues.
