Jason Aaron has given us one of the best Avengers arcs in recent history. AVENGERS #17 is an explosive finale to a stellar arc. Coupled with Marquez and Arciniega's artwork, this is one issue you cannot miss. Read Full Review
Blade is hanging out with a mini-Man-Thing. Jen literally blows-up. Blade performs a decapitation and Captain Marvel shoots a blast right through the head of a vampire. There's witty dialogue and brisk pacing. Its a fun conclusion to the story for Aaron and Marquez. Next month, Ed McGuinness takes over the art as the War of the Realms crossover event. Aaron has an opportunity to take the team in new directions as the Squadron Supreme re-enters the picture once more like the United States latest superhero team. Read Full Review
David Marquez delivers some amazing art throughout this issue. Everything from the character details to the action looks fantastic. Read Full Review
Firstly, can we sit back and appreciate the amazing cover of this book? The inside doesn't disappoint as this is the team brawl we've been waiting for this arc to get to. Needless to say, Marquez tears this book up with amazing action shots of Wakandan lightsabers, vampire Optic Blasts, and exploding rats. Not to be outdone, Aaron looks like he's having a ball with the mid-combat barbs and Blade's inner monologue (seriously, he calls T'Challa the Black Pope!). My absolute favorite is the couple panels where Blood Baroness shouts off Nazi rants and Captain America essentially says, "Ya Basic". The book ends with a couple of open directions to go in the future. We'll get more vampires eventually and definitely more Ghost Rider (Yea, that one). But next arc looks like it features your favorite DC ripoffs. Enter the Squadron. Read Full Review
The vampire war has been prevented by the Avengers for the time being. The Avengers claim victory but don't realize that Dracula is not as helpless as he seems. Russia's vampire problem may not be going away anytime soon and the Winter Guard may not ready for what comes next. Read Full Review
The Kingdom of Vampires storyline has been a ton of fun for me to read. I have enjoyed everything Jason Aaron has done with it throughout this story arc. The Avengers #17 just felt a little too rushed, though. Everything got taken care of just a little bit too easily. The art, as always, looks fantastic and is just a delight. I wish Aaron could have taken one more issue with this storyline to give it what it needed. But the big War of the Realms event is coming up next, so I guess that is why The Avengers #17 had to be wrapped up quickly. Read Full Review
Avengers (2018-) #17 gives us an ending for the "Vampire Civil War" story arc. The ending itself isn't the strongest, but the story is good, and the art is fantastic. Read Full Review
A tidy ending to a fun arc, that left me feeling like I could have used a bit more. Read Full Review
Avengers remains one of Marvel's biggest roller coasters, as some issues are absolute home runs while others struggle to land on two feet. Read Full Review
The comic has a grate conclusion with a nice twist but its not all good as there are issues writing wise. 3 out of 5! Read Full Review
The Vampire Civil War ends with a cool twist I didn't see coming, but overall, it was a bit of a letdown. Things felt rushed here and after the buildup, I expected more. Read Full Review
Blade and the Baby Man-Thing May be the greatest duo of all time lol
Thori is the best boy and I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise.
What an ending to this arc! This is definitely not the last time we're seeing these characters, which is even more exciting. A very bloody issue, even by this book's standards -- which I've enjoyed a lot. Now that this arc's completed, I can only wish that the War of the Realms arc will be as good.
Of course we need a good story with depth, especially with Avengers, and Aaron is well-known for building up his stories, although some slower than others. This has surprisingly been the best arc so far of his run, as each issue has been fairly full of exciting action, but this one takes the cake as a great finish and a template for how awesome and kickass every issue of Avengers should be.
I really like that this was a scheme by Dracula. He played everyone.
Great cliffhanger!
Great stuff! Well played!
The vampire civil war was definitely the worst arc of this series yet but it ended on a high note. I loved getting inside Blade’s head and that ending was a nice touch.
The whole vampire thing seemes kimds of pointless in the long run with this ending. But besides that it was entertaining and really well drawn.
A sudden end to a completely pointless arc. The Avengers suddenly beat the vampires, despite not doing anything different than what they were doing. The vampires beat and possibly kill several members of the Winter Guard. Glad we spent so much time with them being pointless dicks. Oh, but it was all a plot by Dracula! He destroyed his home, most of his followers and everyone he cared about for....reasons. Oh, and the whole plot with Ghost Rider gets ignored. Robbie shows up near the end and throws a punch. Then asks Blade to perform an exorcism on his car, which is still not how his powers work.
What was the point? There were vampires in places, occasionally killing each other. It never felt like a war, just a bunch of more
