Rated T+
Russell Dauterman delivers some beautiful and powerful art throughout this issue and all of the details, including the bloody conclusion, look amazing. Read Full Review
Malkeith has won the first battle of The War of the Realms. Our heroes have retreated and the rest of Earth's defense has been decimated. Our heroes need to regroup, and may need to fight this war on multiple fronts to defeat Malkeith and his forces. Read Full Review
Every hero and villain gets a moment, before the final two pages focus on the most important scene for a specific character. The story is epic, with heroes and villains clashing, while civilians run for shelter. The visuals would have received an A+ had there not been so much horrific computer blurring that only points how ineffective the technique is in comic books. I'd still recommend this book to any fan who wants to read a super hero saga. Read Full Review
I thought it did a really good job of balancing action, a moderate amount of necessary exposition and about 4 pages of setup for the various spinoffs, tie ins and such. An argument could be made that this is an issue long fight that just served to launch more things to buy, which isn't incorrect, but I'm so very happy with the book I just read it's hard to care. Other than that, the comic features terrific art and a nicely-building story. If you like big events, this is yourhuckleberry. Read Full Review
Another awesome issue, but I am starting to feel like this issue wasn't so much to advance the story as it was to make us more intrigued in the tie-ins involved. Read Full Review
War of the Realms #2 has beautiful art and colors, and the story doesn't let off the gas in terms of how big the story feels, living up to its event status. Read Full Review
Simply put, WAR OF THE REALMS rules. Read Full Review
One ties-in aside, I am really enjoying the War of the Realms early on. Jason Aaron is putting his pieces together but also did a great job of showing that Malekith is way more prepared to take down our heroes than they are to stop him. This already feels huge and were just getting started! Read Full Review
Bottom Line: Jason Aaron has managed to turn the end of his Thor tenure into a blockbuster film of a comic that casual readers and die hard fans of his years working on these characters can get into. Never let it be said that one of the best Thor writers ever didn't go out with a crack of thunder. Read Full Review
While the issue feels like it's setting up the board, it gives you enough to taste to make you excited for what's about to come. Read Full Review
A good second issue that does the job as far as events go. You'll enjoy the action and gear up for tie-in adventures because this issue sets everything up so well. Read Full Review

A great sophomore effort from an exceptionally ambitious event. Read Full Review
The issue stumbles a bit at the end when the heroes regroup and transparently lay out the pitches for the many "War of the Realms" tie-in series being published alongside this main event, but it's a minor sin for such an epic tale ot commit. Read Full Review
The titular War of the Realms progresses nicely into a bigger and more entertaining mess, but the comic overall is missing that extra something special to make it a truly great event. Read Full Review
"War of the Realms" #2 carries a majestic art direction and script filled with the tension of Malekith's war. Read Full Review
War of the Realms #2 delivers more zany superhero fun even as it struggles to build deeper character drama. Read Full Review
The second issue is an improvement with a bit more focus on what the heroes of New York are doing instead of setting up the various players. Still, there's a lot of ground covered and with that a focus on the action and visuals over the characters themselves. The comic delivers those visuals, along with a good amount of humor, to create a second issue that sucks you in a bit more than the debut. It's hopefully a sign of momentum as the story really gets rolling and the fight to save Earth continues. Read Full Review
Holy smokes. Incredible issue.
THIS BOOK IS AWESOME. You can finally fell that the heroes lost. New York is destroyed and Malekith's army has won. Odin isn't dead, obviously. Jason Aaron's knows how and when to use each character and that's a really good thing for an event. Russel Dauterman's art is beatiful as always.
Can't wait for next issue!
The Asgardians and mortals cede Manhattan to Malekith's forces after a brutal street fight with lethal consequences. The creators turn to that staple of event comics, the "we'll all have to split up into spinoffs" scene. This is one of the best-crafted examples I've ever read. And the Battle of Manhattan is stunning; this issue's Ride of the Valkyries holds the series at two for two in conjuring up MCU-level spectacles in comics form. War of the Realms remains a triumph and a delight, even though the conflict is taking a fearsome toll on Asgard's character roster.
All I want to know is what the bad guys are up to.
Now this is what I wanted from this event, and it's only the second issue. Bloody action, well-written, and the artwork is just fantastic. Hope it continues going as strong.
While this issue is much less entertaining then War of the Realms 1, the art is still perfect and the story advances at a perfect pace. This issue mainly serves as a jumping on point for the tie ins and no sign of Thor. Nonetheless, War of the Realms is still Marvel’s next event in 4 years
Another great issue.
This issue was a big old battle. This is Dauterman at his finest. Gorgeous art work. Beautiful fighting scenes. Seeing Valkery fight to the death like that was badass. This event is balancing it's heavy cast quite well with both villains and heroes.
The Punisher looks too much like the Hulk, but I'm happy with everything else. It's an exciting and tense issue.
Im really enjoying this event and on a side note the tie ins are really good as well. The scale and stakes feel big and while I could do without some of the humor it really is starting to become a great event.
This comic continues to be a good and entertaining reading. The pressure and the difficulty of this war is represented in a really powerful way to the reader. I felt like this is something really big, indeed it is, and that no one of my favorites heroes is safe. The pacing is great and the narration of the events keep the attention of the reader on.
The art is gorgeous.
It’s exciting. It’s action packed. It has art that looks like a painting, just magnificent. The story flows well, makes sense, and Aaron’s has the characters voices. Awesome job as usual Mr Aaron’s! Pick this up but start at 1!
beautiful but pointless. The last pages are nice
