The Flash battles Captain Cold for the last time! The Rogues' Reign is a brutal battle for power over Central City, but the tides are turning and the reign approaches a deadly end! With the Speed Force in chaos, can Glider help channel Flash's powers long enough to overthrow her brother, Captain Cold?
The Flash has been one of my favourite titles of the Rebirth era. I think this is because Williamson seems to have a good grasp of the character of Barry Allen. Not just all the qualities that make him great, but also the weaknesses that make him human. Williamson's entire run has been about Barry learning to come to grips with those weaknesses to become the best hero he can be. Read Full Review
Williamson and Sandoval wrap another thrilling and surprise-filled arc as The Flash keeps its title as the most consistent DC book on the stands. Read Full Review
In my estimation, this issue of The Flash was one of the best things to come out of the Year of the Villain event at DC. Read Full Review
At the end of the issue, he is begging to be locked up. What will happen next? Where is this all going? I have no idea but I am excited to find out! Read Full Review
The climax of this great Flash story has come and now gone and it was a real treat to read. The art was amazing and we got some great storytelling to go along with it. There are some things that happen without explanation but overall, this was a great end to the latest chapter in the Flash mythos. Read Full Review
The conclusion of Rogues' Reign in Flash #86 delivers what we're looking for in an explosive showdown between Captain Cold and the Flash. Read Full Review
This issue is fun, though not something that we haven't seen a hundred times before in Flash titles, and so will likely just become forgettable. Read Full Review
Sandoval delivers some stunning art throughout this issue. The art had a fluid look like everything was in motion. Rafa Sandoval always gives the Flash a sense of energy when he's drawing him and that energy is present throughout the issue. A great looking finale. Read Full Review
The conclusion to Rogues' Reign shakes up The Flash status quo, for better or worse. Read Full Review
"Rogues' Reign" comes to its knockout finish, as the heroes prevail, reality and sanity are restored, but with an inevitable price. It's comic book madness perhaps not at its finest, but it's still undeniably fun. Read Full Review
Josh Williamson's run with The Flash has been one of the most consistent since DC Rebirth, and this issue is no exception. Read Full Review
A serviceable ending to a crossover arc that probably would have been better left to the side. Read Full Review
This continues to be one of the best dc books
" Officer, wait... The speed force is too dangerous and until i can learn how to control myself... I belong in prison with the Rogues. "
- THE FLASH
There are some plot points seemingly being reused from earlier in the run, but it does seem like it is going elsewhere based on the "Next" cliffhanger and that could lead to an interesting arc.
Prelude:
It's the last issue of Rogues Reign before it's aftermath. Let's see how Williamson goes with this issue.
The Good:
I'm always a fan of everyone working together.
I love Barry going all out
That's an interesting cliffhanger though I'm concerned for how long it lasts with The Flash Age coming up.
I loved Sandoval's art. Duce was good but Sandoval is one a different level.
The Bad:
It's a typical finale issue.
Conclusion:
While the story is really good, I do feel like it is a typical ending issue of an arc.
Now that's a great way to end this arc (and, hopefully, forget about all the stupid YOTV stuff). Barry going all super saiyan was great to see as well.
A largely decent end to an enjoyable arc. Would've given this an 8 if not for the last page, which I'm hoping is just some kind of misdirection.
"The Damn Flash"
The Rogues' Reign ends and I have a sort of mixed feelings.
I very much enjoyed it at the begging. Seeing the villainous face of Captain Cold was great, with the apogee being the murder of Commander Cold. The apocalyptic, frozen Central City didn't look friendly and Flash's battle with Cold, who looked like angry Santa, was pretty fun.
Sadly, the arc started to lose steam last issue and it continued to do so in this one as well.
And I might be wrong, but the ending seems to indicate that the sad Flash is back. Damn it! I hate that guy.
That’s not how prison works but okay, whatever.
Oh no, Flash can't control his powers... AGAIN. I feel like I can't tell who has it worse. Wally or Barry. Yeah, Wally killed a bunch of people and lost his family, but Barry is in a constant cycle of bullshit. Come up with a new idea already. And also, I've never been less sure of this, is Captain Cold an old man? He looks real old here.
