I also hoped he was dead ( would have been more dramatic)& I totally agree, that the explanations are annoying, but overall I liked this issue. Maybe it’s because it’s still so much better than Kings Batman& Im quite annoyed by it.
While the Nightwings recover from their last battle against the fiendish Burnback, Ric reflects on the small portion of his past that he remembers-life in the circus as the youngest member of the Flying Graysons-in hopes of finding any clues as to what kind of man his parents hoped he'd become...perhaps a certain Talon has the answers he seeks?
Nightwing #63 is an excellent issue in a title that got a lot of stick for the changes it made, but has only gotten stronger since. Read Full Review
Nightwing #63 is a gem of a comic. DC are producing pure gold all across their line of titles right now, and this series is one of the most consistent, but hugely overlooked and underrated series. William Cobb's appearance and actions in this issue are real incentives to read what comes next, particularly the way that the issue ends. Read Full Review
And if they bring back "Dick" Grayson, well, all the better. Read Full Review
Dan Jurgens is a name that brings a lot of expectations with it, the man is a legend. With Nightwing #63, he turns a mediocre at best book to something truly worth diving into with just a handful of pages. Any Nightwing fan who's been waiting for the other foot to fall has finally got what they've been waiting for. Read Full Review
Now that "The Offer"'s on the table, this series is really picking up because while we've seen villains since Nightwing became Ric Grayson, none have seemed as dangerous as William Cobb and I'm excited. We've got decent art this issue and a lot of character moments that drove the story along in a fun way that really brought a nervousness by the end as the tension built. Read Full Review
Looking ahead to Nightwing #64, if Talon seriously harms Be a, I wonder what direction Dan Jurgens will take with Ric. Read Full Review
There's good stuff in this comic, but it still feels like a raw product slowly being refined into something. Read Full Review
Final Thoughts: Good read. Not as good as the last issue, but miles better than the past few. Read Full Review
Nightwing is missing a spark these days. Hopefully, Jurgens can get the book back on track soon as his run with these four Nightwings has been better than I expected. He just needs something to continue validating the title as a group book instead of Batman's protege handling crime on his own. Read Full Review
This issue continues to suffer from unnecessarily slow pacing due to extensive exposition and scenes that drag on far too long. There's too much narration that distracts from the action and far too much recap of a story that many fans just want to end. Read Full Review
If you've read Nightwing once in the past six months, you've read the same exact issue and little has changed along the way. Read Full Review
Good issue. Talons finally make a move& hurt one of the Nightwings. Bea is in great danger as well. I don’t think Jurgens is going to kill her, but I‘m still worried here. Looking forward to the next issue.
The Good:
Talon. Damn does he feel like an actual threat in this instead of the jobber he's been in the past. Gathering intel so close to our heroes and later easily dispatching a Nightwing in what is can barely qualify as a fight. This is what a Talon should be, not the mooks that are there for our heroes to easily beat up.
The art. Whilst maybe not something that I would mention normally, I'm a bit desperate to find something good. Ronan Cliquet's art really sells the book, understanding the dynamics of the Wings and Cobb.
The Bad:
Ric. Why is this still a thing? I'm actively rooting for Cobb to win this fight just so we can get Dick back. I think ultimately that's where my issue with this current series li more
Idk. William Cobb hunting down the fakes is fun.
I hope this was all his dying dream after being shot in the head. I would honestly rather he die than see him like this.
God, I was so happy when I thought one of The 'Wings was dead. But of course they aren't. I wonder if the writer ever gets bored writing this series? Especially when every issue starts with the same tired explanation we get every issue about who Ric is. It's so repetitive and it just adds to the problems this book has.
This series has gotten really repetitive and isn't interesting at all.
Please give us back the real Nightwing and Dick Grayson.
THE GOOD:
-The art was fine. Adequate. It's sad that's the standout of this issue.
THE BAD:
-This has gone from bizarrely bad to incredibly bland so quickly. I have no idea what to think. At least I could laugh at this when Lodbell wrote it.
-Good god, these characters are incredibly bland and unlikable.
-My eyes were rolled so far back through pretty much the whole taxi scene with Cobb.
-I hate Bea. I hope Cobb kills her. He won't, but it'd be nice.
I hope when “ric” ends this phase of Nightwing’s history is fully redacted or excised completely. The cosmic shitheel that is ric deserves nothing less than a talon’s blade to the brain, this needs to end already.
Oh no irrelevant female character might die, I am truly concerned, cue facepalm. Please, everyone involved in this arc from her to the ineffectual “generics” should fade into obscurity. Next issue get a few points if Talon can deliver in cleaning up the board.
Okay WOW I never thought I would ever rate a Nightwing or really any comic a 1 but that is what this comic is to me.
Here's why.....
1. EVERY issue is half filled with the same narrative and recap of who the new "Nightwings' are and how Ric cares nothing about who he was or knew. Because of this it feels like each month your reading the same comic only with a new backdrop each time. I once heard a joke about how long daytime soap operas drag out their story lines and how you could watch an episode one day and not watch the show again for 10 years and time wise on that show it would only be later that same day. Having watched soaps in my younger years I can say that was pretty much true. It's also similar to how readin more
