HEARTBREAK! Lord Death Man reveals the truth about Flatline! Can Robin forgive her?! Since leaving Gotham, Damian has grown and trained to be a hero, but now that story comes to an end as he's pulled into a shocking new story line that will test his role as Robin and his place in the DCU!
‘Robin' closes out this particular chapter of Damian Wayne's story by showcasing just how far this character has come over the last seventeen issues, capping off a gorgeous fun, and character-defining run that will surely stand the test of time as a classic. Any time a story ends, it can be quite sad but it can also be quite happy, reminding us why we connect with these characters and this medium in an amazing way. Read Full Review
Joshua Williamson's Robin run comes to an end this issue, and what's interesting is that it essentially feels like a prequel even though it's had some massive developments for the lead character and may be the best stand-alone run Damian Wayne has had. Read Full Review
Damien, I love seeing you go in a better direction. There's nothing better than seeing a character grow before your eyes. Williamson has done such an impressive job with that. I genuinely love the writing, the art and the general development of all these characters. Read Full Review
It's sad to see Robin end, but it's nice to see it go out on its own terms. This final issue can give Damian a few precious moments with friends, set up a new threat from the al Ghul family, and doesn't feel like a rush, either. Read Full Review
Robin was an enjoyable series that probably ended too soon. This is always a frustration with stronger DC series ending when there still plenty of potential storylines left on the table. At least this one retained its consistency with every issue. Read Full Review
This series has been an action-packed tale that snuck in teen angst and a coming-of-age tale that also made good use of underused characters. Such a treat. I recommend this issue for the way it continues to build on Damian Wayne and who he will become. Read Full Review
Robin #17 is at its best when focusing on the friendships Damian Wayne has built over the course of Joshua Williamson's run. It's the strength in this aspect of Robin #17 that makes the rushed way the Lord Death Man and Mother Soul plot is wrap up so disappointing. Maybe if we had one more issue the villain side for the final story in this volume of Robin then Williamson would've been able to deliver a stronger conclusion to his run on this series. Though the final arc doesn't quite provide the power of the first year of the comic, Joshua Williamson and Roger Cruz give a warm, satisfying ending to Damian's tropical adventures and a teaser of what's to come for the Boy Wonder. Read Full Review
Wherever Damain, Connor, and Flatline go next, Robin #17 promises their journeys will be worth following. Read Full Review
Even though this is the end of our series, let's hope that it's only the end for now and after Batman Vs. Robin, it picks back up where we left off, or maybe it gets another #1. Pretty much I just want something because I've loved this series and while I'd love to see more, I wish that this finale felt like it mattered more than it did. Yeah, we have great art but this ending issue just feels like it was in a bit damn rush and nothing felt resolved. Read Full Review
Robin has been a joy to read and review since issue #1, but I cannot say the same about it's ending. What should have been a triumphant finale given plenty of time to resolve its storylines and characters feels instead like a rushed sales pitch for a different title. Nothing is resolved here, from character motivations to relationships, and that's disappointing for such a good series. I'm sad to have it end on this note, but I am looking forward to it's continuation in the pages of Batman vs. Robin. May it be a worthy successor to one of my favorite runs. Read Full Review
What a great series.
I wouldn’t call this an ending as a major thread is left hanging. Plus it literally has Damien acting like he’s going alone only to find out the series now called Batman and Robin. Ok. Otherwise the book was a good read for characterization and the fight with Death Man was funny. Overall very good series that just flattened out in the end.
This is the best Damian Wayne story form issue 1 until now I've ever read. Loved every issue. And I am sad to see it finish. I hope they do a nice omnibus for this run. It would be a must own for my shelf.
This book was just straight up fun, and it always had great artwork.
I loved Damian and flatline and I really hope she becomes his longtime catwoman Style on romance, (pre Tom king era) that always leaves you wanting more for the two.
A solkd finale from joshua williamson. Wonder if this series is over
I’m going to agree with most of the critics on this one — an underwhelming end to what was otherwise a really good series. Bummer, too, as it was one of the few (and I mean FEW) titles at DC that was even readable. Would be sadder if we didn’t already know Damian will be back in that new Robin vs Batman comic. Waid is killing it with World’s Finest, so I’m optimistic it’ll be good.
Unfortunately ends on a whimper, but still had fun with this series.
Could've been stronger though Williamson isn't really known for his endings.
