"Planet of the Capes" part one. ROBIN has a new member of the Teen Titans in mind and it's SUPERBOY! But the Boy of Steel's induction might be short-lived due to an unexpected strike from a group of villains that will send the Super Sons and Teen Titans on their wildest adventure yet! Plus, the first look at the all new Super Sons headquarters!
Overall, Super Sons #6 is a great issue with beautiful glossy art and a solid story. The characters that are utilized in the story don't take away from the focus on Robin and Superboy, which could have easily been the case. Read Full Review
Tomasi brings out an underutilized DC villain to be this arc's obstacle. With the final page surprise and a winking nod to a recent acclaimed comic book movie, this looks like it's going to be another really fun arc. Read Full Review
Do I even need to say anything else? GO READ THE BOOK! Super Sons has been tons of fun so far and, while this first issue for the arc wasn't perfect, it was still very well written and it still has me hyped to see Jon interact with the Teen Titans. GO! READ! IT! Read Full Review
This is a very fun issue. Even though it's a small story, it's Jon and Damian's interactions that make it an enjoyable issue with such great art. Read Full Review
Super Sons #6 is the start of something fresh and exciting. Seeing Superboy and Robin team up together to save cats out of trees is one of hell of a fun ride. This issue also gives you hope that we can one day see Superboy join the Teen Titans. Read Full Review
Overall: Tomasi builds an issue heavily influenced by old school super hero stories, which works perfectly for two heroes-on-build such as Robin and Superboy. Jimenez returns with full force to the title, giving us the best Teen Titans depiction at this moment in DC Comics. Read Full Review
This issue is the book I've been waiting for. Great art, some nice humor and two little heroes I can get behind. Throw in the Teen Titans and Tomasi has a winner! If you have been wondering when to jump on this series, the time is now! Read Full Review
Despite some regressive character behaviors, there continues to be real and entertaining growth in this series and these characters. I continue to be blown away by the art and story. Read Full Review
This is a promising start to a new arc, and one of the things that makes it succeed is balance. Tomasi doesn't just throw the boys into the thick of the action; instead, he lets them be boys (Jon especially) and is willing to slow down long enough to let them grow. Throw in some nice action beats and some truly obscure villains and the book is as exciting as it is moving. Because of that, Super Sons continues to be one of the most satisfying books on the stands right now. Read Full Review
But most of all, maybe Damian will learn that he could use Jon around when fighting villains. How could I not give a book where Superboy saves a cat from a tree and Lois claps with joy a high grade. That said, the entire book reads wonderful and the art just sizzles! Read Full Review
Overall, Super Sons continues to be super fun book, that knows what it's supposed to be, knows when it can be a tongue in cheek and it is not afraid of taking itself too seriously only to make fun of it within the same issue. It is truly what books used to be, not everything needs to be a sprawling epic. The book comes highly recommended! Read Full Review
Super Sons #6 was pure fun from beginning to end. Peter Tomasi continues to do an excellent job writing the unique dynamic that Robin and Superboy share with one another. Adding the Teen Titans to the mix further added to the fun as Superboy now gets a chance to prove himself in the eyes of his peers. How that turns out for Superboy and how Robin treats him should be a lot of fun to see play out. Read Full Review
The first issue of a new story arc can often be far too much setup and not enough story. By adding a scene about the core dynamic of the Super Sons in the beginning of the issue, Peter Tomasi gives the issue an individual take-away before setting up the larger plot. It's nice to see Jon rubbing off on Damian, but also to see the reverse, as Jon is beginning to take the idea of being a hero more seriously and less like playing. Tomasi and artist Jorge Jimenez welcome the Teen Titans into their book with solid characterizations. The only components of the issue feeling lackluster are the villains, who aren't likely to excite readers unless they're fans of the old and obscure. Read Full Review
This book is one of the more recent Rebirth books that, if I am honest, I wasn't particularly looking forward to. However, six issues in and my mind has been changed, dramatically. Unlike other books from DC that try to be funny, this one is actually a fun read. Just don't tell Robin! Read Full Review
In this issue of Super Sons, our heroes learn about friendship, teamwork, doing good, and the complicated choices that present themselves when super heroes set on stopping crime. Read Full Review
Theartwork by Jimenez is good, with a touch of anim, but he steers clear of it inrendering the Titans (though Starfire hardly looks like a teen to me). Tomasisdialogue, coming from young boys, their parents, or their super-poweredteammates rings true and refreshing. Much better than thetrying-too-hard-to-sound-hip I remember from the old days. "Super Sons" #6 is an entertaining read with an ending so bizarre-looking that you definitely want to see what happens next. Read Full Review
In a somewhat confusing yet fun issue, the Teen Titans get in the way of Jon and Damian's night out. This issue is worth it just for the brilliant art and fantastic scenes between the titular characters. Read Full Review
Peter J. Tomasi's Super Sons #6 continues to be pure joy and entertainment. Jon and Damian may soon be known as the World's Finest in terms of fun. Read Full Review
I was hesitant that SS would get too large in scope but it is managed well here. Jimenez has some of the best art out there right now!
Robin's neverending scowl doesn't get old - seeing him get put in his place some is great! Super Sons is Super Fun. Yea it is.
It was fun. Laughed at Jon meeting Gar. Still very confused with the Rebirth Starfire age and her backstory tweaking. Also, any idea who was the clay master in the prologue? The Time Commander input is just going to give the crazy adventure a nice nostalgic 70's B&B
vibe.
