For those worried that Superman/Wonder Woman was code for a 1960s-inspired Supermans Girlfriend, Wonder Woman, you can rest easy. Soule and Daniel have proven that it is possible, with the right care and smart characterization, to bring these two icons together without diminishing either one. Will this pairing last forever? Most certainly not, Im sure. But in the meantime, Im duly impressed with this bright start. Its certainly the best Ive seen Diana handled in a relationship to date, and gives us a whole new dynamic to consider for both characters. If youve doubted this pairing could work, or were frankly outright against it, Id encourage you to give it a shot. The respect and thought put into these pages by the creators will win you over. I cant recommend Superman/Wonder Woman #1 enough. Soule has proven, with just one issue, that the characters are in great hands, with Tony Daniel doing his best to keep up. The question on my mind, and probably on that of everyone else's as well, is just how long can they keep it up? And by they, I mean both Clark and Diana as well as Daniel and Soule. Is there enough chemistry to truly explore this relationship further? Or is this destined to be doomed, due to fan outrage and comparisons to Twilight? (Seriously, I saw no Twilightesque shenanigans in this. At all.) I look forward to some great future stories looking into "masks," so to speak. I've always thought Wonder Woman and Batman were actually the ideal pair, but that would be too easy. Superman and Batman's friendship works because they are so different. So why can't Clark and Diana's work on the same token? Or at least, why can't they try desperately to make it work and draw it out as long as possible? Either way, if the rest of the issues are as good as this one, consider me on board. Until Lois comes back and is actually written as someone other than a plot device. That'd be neat. The art in here is everything I personally could want. Superman and Wonder Woman together has the potential for some brilliant art and Tony S. Daniel does not disappoint. The cover is amazing. It is actually a wrap around/ poster cover that shows characters from their whole world, showing us that this couple will affect a lot of things and people. The interiors are amazing as well. The first page of the two of them flying in the storm took my breath away. I will be picking up this book as long as it continues. I was pleased with this first issue. Overall, just in this first issue Soule has made me understand the relationship between these characters much better and given us a hint as to what they might see in each other, and offer each other. In the first issue he's given us some solid action mixed with humanizing interaction. Soule is adding depth to characters that can both use some in their other series. It's unclear how this fits, if at all, into the current Forever Evil storyline, and allusions to Wonder Woman's recent trials and tribulations in her own title are assumed knowledge. However, unlike Batman/Superman, the new Superman/Wonder Woman has a clearer focus on how the relationship is going to be defined. The longevity of the approach is still questionable, but if DC continues to treat the two icons as characters, then there is potential for this to be one of the strongest titles featuring either of them. Superman and Wonder Woman are two of DC's greatest characters and we're finally getting a series devoted to the two together. Charles Soule gives a great mix of action, emotion and character development in this debut issue. It should convince you to stick around for more to come. Tony Daniel's art adds depth to the characters. His layouts make this feel completely different than the regular SUPERMAN or WONDER WOMAN comics yet it feels like this is how it was meant to be. While we do get a mix between the action and quiet times, you will be left hanging and hungering for more, especially when you get to the end. The story is captivating because, for the first time really, Superman and Wonder Woman's relationship is front and center. Not just their romantic relationship, but also their working relationship as heroes. In the past, Clark and Diana's actions have always reflected on the Justice League in some form or another. Whether or not their heroics inSuperman/Wonder Woman will have greater ramifications through the ‘New 52′ is yet to be seen, but for the time being, it's nice to read a story about these two titans working together without worrying about how the League will react on the next page. Where this series will succeed or fail is in how the relationship between the title characters proceeds. Will they be allowed to find some semblance of happiness, at least for a while, or will this fall into the 'publicity stunt' category. The strongest part of the book is without a doubt the art, Daniels is one of the best artists working in comics at present and it really shows why on this book. The inks by Banning compliment the artwork by giving the art a crisp finish. Soule seems to be becoming one of the good to writers for Marvel and DC these, with the likes of Thunderbolts, the upcoming She Hulk, Red Lantern and this book among others. So far have not being overly enamoured by his writing on the other book but thought that this was his best book so far. He seems to have a decent grasp of how to write super heroes in action but struggles on the more mundane aspects of their personnel lives which is something that he will need to work on this book is probably going to revolve around the relationship between Superman and Wonder Woman. All in all a strong first issue and would recommend fans of mainstream comics give it a go if for no other reason than to see Daniel's amazing art. Read Full Review

The thing about it is that it isn't very" exciting or something that really draws you in. Don't get me wrong, all the writing is fine and I do buy this relationship from what our writer, Charles Soule, has shown. The dialogue and exchanges are pretty solid in establishing the friendships and relationships with everyone. It just does not click though in making you want more. Superman/Wonder Woman still has its fair share of problems to overcome; even just one issue in, we end on a cliffhanger of Wonder Woman 'in peril' against Superman's beefy, bone-headed nemesis. But, despite my misgivings, Soule and Daniel turn in legitimately solid work here, putting together a series that I would actually happily check out again. Despite its problems and almost against my better judgment, I have to say: Superman/Wonder Woman #1 is a good start to what could be an excellent new adventure. This was a brilliant start to the series, and although it didn't reach the level of quality I hoped it would, it did a brilliant job for an opening issue, showing tons of promise for the series's future. It also had some brilliant interaction, and some very exciting sequences, with the ending being the most exciting of them all. I wanted to like this issue, and it's fine for what it is, but it's nothing special. I don't think Superman and Wonder Woman even share a single kiss. There's no chemistry between them. They are Superman and Wonder Woman, and they tell each other they are in a relationship because that's what marketing decided. Soule does a fine job handling the characters themselves, and Daniel draws a great comic, but this series is missing the most important part. There's no intimacy, no chemistry, no nuance or romance. I think there is some potential in this. Who is Doomsday in this new universe? What will Clark do when Cat wants to break a story he wants to bury? And it really is a beautiful book. Daniel really does wonders here. But the back and forth flashbacks felt jarring. And I still don't feel the romance here. Considering Soule's intelligence as a writer, this is very basic superhero comics. Considering Daniels' popularity, this is bland art. Considering the potential chemistry between Clark and Diana, this is a frigid first date. They just don't seem to have enough chemistry going on, the whole relationship they have feels forced. The couple pages of it in Justice League felt a lot more substantial than an entire book about it. Beautiful artwork.

Great character moments, and I do love Soule's writing, but feel his writing is a little pared down here to make room for e widescreen art (which is lovely, but I'm more a plot than art guy). Still a very enjoyable book, even if its not as filling as, say, Swamp Thing.
