"After the events of Nubia & the Amazons, the dangers of Doom's Doorway have found their way to Man's World and garnered the attention of not one, but all three Amazonian tribes. The Bana-Mighdall consider it to be a weakness in the current regime and have decided to return to the shores of Themyscira to stake their claim over the island. Little do they know, the Esquecida are not far behind, but instead looking for help to combat the evil unleashed. Tempers rise and swords are brandished as the women argue about the best course of action.
Now Queen Nubia must show them all the way to peace by calling for one of the most famous Amazon tra more
A much deserved five stars. Trial of the Amazons has everything: an empowering story; striking visuals and captivating characters. Read Full Review
If you're an event person, you NEED this book. If you're not an event person, you NEED this book. Trial of The Amazons #1 is finally giving the Wonder/Amazonian-Verse the spotlight it deserves and I can't get enough of it! Read Full Review
This is beautifully crafted issue featuring modern drawings and bold color work. The attention to diversity in both ethnicity and body shape is both noted and appreciated. I felt transported with the turn of each page. Read Full Review
The team assembled have come out with all guns a blazing, and while not heavy with the action is setting up for one heck of a story. Much like DCs other multi-title event going on (War for Earth 3get it if youre not already getting it!), Trial looks to craft a tale that should rock the boat for the Wonder crew for the foreseeable future, which depending on the finale, could provide us with fallout that could create stories for generations to come. Trial of the Amazons #1 features Wonder Woman writers and artists uniting the three Amazon tribes for a game-changing crossover event. With the storyline slated to spread into the rest of the Wonder Woman titles, I look forward to seeing the Contest results and how it potentially shakes up the Wonder Woman mythos. Read Full Review
It's a solid issue and a great kickoff. Read Full Review
Trial of the Amazons is a good start to an event that may just change everything we know about the Amazons. That's exciting, especially when Wonder Woman isn't even the most intriguing character in the narrative. Trial of the Amazonsunfolds a drama that draws you into each character's narrative. The single most impressive thing about the first issue of Trial of the Amazons is the fact that it comes together at all. The pacing of the issue seems remarkably even. Yara Flor doesnt get a whole lot of time on the page, but she DOES make quite an impact. The rest of the Esquecidas are seen from the perspective of the rest of the Amazons as something of a recent mystery. Yara and company will take a more prominent role as the crossover continues. The rest of the issue feels quite well-balanced. Read Full Review
It may start slower than most event books, but Trial of the Amazons #1 offers enough intrigue and dire stakes to keep readers coming back. Read Full Review
Its an intriguing start, even if it does feel massively ambitious and battling with itself at times. Read Full Review
"Trial of Amazons" #1 marks a decent start for the crossover event. Read Full Review
Trial of the Amazons #1 is almost all talk, no action, and a surprise death at the end that comes out of nowhere. I'd love to say the first Wonder Woman-centric event in years is off to a better start, but it ends up being a tedious issue to get everyone up to speed. Read Full Review
This issue was mostly setting up the tribe dynamics. It needed a bit more substance beyond the final page, but it should be interesting to see how the fallout of that death. Read Full Review
Trial of the Amazons #1 is all about set-up for what this Wonder Woman event will be about. From all the character dynamics to the surprising death at the end, this first chapter got the job done of what it needed to do to lay the foundation for this event. The thing that holds Trial of the Amazons #1 back is how it does expect the reader to know what has been going on in all the Wonder Woman titles since the start of Infinite Frontier. If you don't have at least a working knowledge of the current Wonder Woman status quo this event may not be for you. Read Full Review
Trial of the Amazons #1 takes a couple of big chances. The execution suffers though in a couple of areas and it's questionable if this is the story Wonder Woman readers want. Are we to see the Amazons come together or be split apart? It's unclear in this issue how things will go and unfortunately, the death of a major character holds little weight in today's comics. Trial of the Amazons #1 sets up the dynamics between the Amazons in an enjoyable way. Faruka is clearly the stand-out star but Yara isn't easily overshadowed and Nubia's and Diana's interactions continue to be a delight.
It feels good to finally have the Amazons in one place and this feels like an event that is actually gonna bring change not just promise it.
The art is enjoyable for the most part and fits the occasion but, even though longer issues often have multiple artists working on it, I wonder if 40 pages really needed this many artists and if it couldn't have been divided better.
Another technical/editorial problem that appeared while Nubia and Diana and then Diana and Faruka speak is that speech bu more
It's pretty enjoyable and entertaining with good art.
Yeah, I don't know who decided that the tone and voice for this series was to be "stilted stoic" but it makes for a largely uninteresting read that threatens to put you to sleep.
Reads like you would expect a single story written by 4 separate teams of writers would read.
I found nothing enjoyable about this. Stilted speech, over-the-top characterizations, tedious character interactions, and awkward transitions as the writers didn't quite sync up.
Mostly, it was boring. This is not an island I'd be in a hurry to visit.
I'd like to know why no one at any time asks why Cassie and Donna are introduced as part of the Esquecida! But why should I single out that one question and not give equal time to every other peculiar plot point?
Great, another book about inclusion and equity and destroying Wonder Woman.
