Buy this, read it in the store (WITH your mask on) because it's too good to wait to get to the car for you to read it. This was SUCH a good issue, I think it's probably the best thing out this week. Read Full Review

Mark Bagley delivers some beautiful art in this issue from start to finish. The human moments are filled with great detail in the character expressions and panel progression and the action is thrilling and tense. Read Full Review

Overall, I think this is a great start to the Sin-Eater storyline. I've been slowly wondering when this series would get back into a groove after its stellar first story arc and it's fairly obvious this arc may be a return to something well worth investing your time in. "Sins Rising" is shaping up to be a haunting and worthy story. Read Full Review

If you’ve been counting the days till the Sin-Eater’s return, you won’t be disappointed. This is a really solid start to this story. I’m a little hesitant to see how the whole thing plays out, but this is an excellent reminder that Spencer knows how to set the stage when things get serious, too. Bagley’s art is great as ever, and the setting means that he and Curiel get to do great things with the environment in each panel. Read Full Review

Spencer's re-introduction of historical characters may bring back readers or create opportunities for new readers to explore the original story arcs. But as an oversized issue, it does little more than set the stage for the new arc. Bagley's artwork though, continues to be quintessential Spider-man. Read Full Review

Amazing Spider-Man #45 is one of the better issues Nick Spencer has written on this series in quite some time. Spencer showed a great understanding of what Sin-Eater's return means for Spider-Man and how the villains return affects him in such a drastic way. Having Mark Bagley on board for this issue also helped with the tension that is felt with this clash between Spider-Man and Sin-Eater. This is definitely the most interested I've been in an Amazing Spider-Man story this year. Read Full Review

This was a very good start to Sins Rising. I really liked the art. Mark Bagley is just an amazing Spider-Man artist. I really like the feel of the story. I don't know what else to say about the issue. I'm in a bit of a mood so I've had to, more than once, stop myself from typing out some vitriolic things about some of what I deem the Kindred-neers (Yes it's a pun). The subset of readers who only care about Kindred as though that's the only thing in the series that matters? And why am I bringing this up in a review for an issue where Kindred appears in one panel? Because every time Spider-Man gets introspective in this series, I think, "Is this the time they'll get it?" and the answer is always no. While we're on Kindred, since this title is more

Love Bagley´s art and things get interesting. Between what Peter, MJ and Kindred lives and feels, I feel that OMD story could be definitively closed.

This IMO was the best issue of ASM in a while. I hate that Marvel can't keep a consistent artist on this book, but Bagley's style perfectly matched the tone of the story, and I thought his panels flowed very well. There's a page with much more action than what we've been seeing in ASM over the last 2 years that I think most people will love. Also absolutely loved the writing of Peter in this issue. Spencer's Peter has been much more thoughtful and deeper during this run, and I think with Sins Rising, we're going to see some of this pay off. This is a great start to Sins Rising and I really, really hope this quality is kept up.

"Sins rising" is off to a pretty exciting start. Any story involving the Sin-Eater is guaranteed to be a thriller though. His two stories from the '80s are both among the greatest Spidey adventures of all time. I'm sure this will be among them too if it keeps up at this pace. Overdrive sure is becoming interesting. I hope to see him develop further as a character in time. As for the never-ending mystery of Kindred, let's just get to it so "Nothing will ever be the same for Spidey again, etc., etc., etc." Geeze, I remember when mystery villains were interesting. Over the last 18 or so years the mystery to them drags on forever, until I just want them to unmask him so we can go on with the series. And 2 years of this mystery is long enough. more

Bagley on art for Spider-Man is always a winner. Once again, the story plays off continuity very well! I can't wait to see where this goes!

Like the rest of the volume, this issue is pretty recap-heavy. But it's done in a nearly-all-positive way here, enhancing the reading experience and increasing accessibility.
