The aftershocks of the Morbius incident are still fresh in Ben Reilly’s mind, and he’s faced with KRAVEN THE HUNTER! A corporate-sponsored Spider-Man is more than Kraven can bear, and the hunter is going to test his prey like never before. The trap is set, and the bait is ready. Now it’s just time to wait and watch.
Amazing Spider-Man #79 goes hard with the amount of story it's delivering, varying ideas, and well-written character threads. This is as good as it gets in superhero comics with heart, action, and pure entertainment. Read Full Review
A very well-done issue. Seriously, this series just continues to get better. The writing team is really working as a team, and the artists that have been chosen are totally on point. Run out and get this one on Wednesday, that way if the football game on Thanksgiving Day stinks, you'll have something to read! Read Full Review
Dowling delivers some vibrant, exciting and beautifully detailed art in the issue. The characters look great and the action is thrilling. Read Full Review
The creative team hits a home run out of the gate here. The writing is sharp and fun, while the art is top notch. Read Full Review
Writer Cody Ziglar and artist Michael Dowling make an impressive debut on The Amazing Spider-Man as tension builds between Ben Reilly and his Beyond Corporation sponsors before Kraven the Hunter arrives on the scene. Read Full Review
Amazing Spider-Man #79 continues the Beyond storyline with Kraven The Hunter as the lead villain. The story explores more of Ben Reilly's emotional stakes not just for this comic but for the Beyond storyline as a whole. Readers will also get some cool, good-old-fashioned Spidey super-heroics. When it finally transitions to Kraven's part in the comic, the art is well done, the characters look good, and the action is clear, dynamic, and easy to follow. Read Full Review
Pretty solid and enjoyable continuation of everything that's been happening so far. Read Full Review
When focused on the superhero aspect Amazing Spider-Man #79 is at its best. There is still a lot of work to get Ben Reilly over without the mask but at least he is starting to get comfortable as Spider-Man. The set-up for this Kraven storyline has all the makings for a fun arc that will challenge Ben to prove himself as Spider-Man. Read Full Review
This was absolutely tremendous! This had everything I could want in a Spider-Man book. The charecters where written with a lot of heart and emotion the action was exciting and the one liners where fun and funny. The artwork was unbelievable! After I had finished reading it I had to go back and just admire the artwork. Great book I can't wait for the next one
Solid issue. It feels nostalgic but is also definitely carving its own mythos for Ben. Subtle / not-so-subtle throwing shade at capitalism is cool now. I love how the Beyond staff is basically the stand-in for the PMC (Professional Managerial Class) / petty bourgeoisie here, or maybe I'm reading a little tooooo much into this lol. Really excited to see where the rest of the series is oing!
This issue had everything I felt was lacking in the previous issues. Ben's monologue, his thoughts what is going on, etc...
Combine that with stellar art from Dowling and we have anoter great issue from Beyond team.
Sorry for nitpicking. But one thing is bothering me constantly.
Why Robbie, Peter's roommate, not showing to Hospital? If I got to know that My roommate, my friend is in coma, I am definitely going to pay a visit.
Also for Jonah. Didn't Jonah think of Peter akin to son? He is also not showing here.
I don't know I feel bothered by this.
Did I need to suspend my belief to believe that it went off panel? Though I feel it should be shown on panel.
One of the better Beyond issues. It got really interesting before the end.
This was a good issue. I feel like the frequent creative changes might end up hurting this Beyond run. It just seems like not enough page space is being given to really further the main plot. Maybe that's coming soon and this is just to introduce the different teams and really set everything in motion here. But for now, I'm wary of whether this run will keep its momentum or not.
This was a solid issue, I'm still not a big fan of the main plot to this run but this issue was a significant improvement to the others
I'm not a huge fan of Beyond, for now. It's not bad, but it looks like nothing is evolving: Ben is always in doubt, Beyond is shady, Peter is in a coma and that's it. I like seeing classic villains coming back and I really like the art in this issue. We'll see.
Better than what Thompson did for sure, this book was actually about Spider-Man.
I didn't see any big storytelling problems here, but the plot development (or rather the lack thereof) worries me. Feels like Ben breaks no new ground in this issue, just spinning his wheels. Peter's the same. Kraven was the highlight of the issue, and yet I'm not that engaged with his scheme. I'm expecting this gauntlet of classic Spidey villains not to have much of a lasting impact on Ben or the bigger plot -- if the next issue proves me wrong it'll help restore my faith.
