Nerd Initiative - TravisComicHaven

The plot is perfectly spaced out allowing fantastic progression for an ongoing story. The amount of character development on all fronts is very entertaining. Readers are given just enough to pique their interest making the need for the next issue almost unbearable. Plot
Daredevil is overpowered by Omen, who is strangling him with a chain. When Daredevil is nearly breathless, Owl appears and shoots Omen, escaping into the shadows.
Owl then ties up Daredevil and tries to extort money from him, but the Man Without Fear escapes, knowing he owes Owl a debt. Daredevil doesn't understand why his senses are clouded by Omen and why his mind wanders back to the moment his father died.
Detectives Dominic and Callahan have heated arguments about how to approach the case. They don't trust each other due to past ties with Kingpin, and separately, they happen to return to the docks to search for clues. Omen attacks them and blinds Callahan.

Not as good as the previous issue, but still interesting and enjoyable, for sure. The narration and flashbacks were probably my favorite things here, honestly, though I also liked the stuff with Dominic. I feel that Matt's "present-day" stuff was a bit drawn out in some ways, but I didn't dislike it whatsoever. Looking forward to seeing where this goes in the next issue, which seems to be the end of the first arc.

There are glimpses of something really good, both in Phillips‘s writing and Garbett‘s art - especially in the art. But it never really gets there. For every great page, there’s another one that just feels uninspired… talking heads mostly. As another reviewer mentioned, there’s also a problem with the pacing, particularly from issue to issue. Every issue seems to end prematurely, but maybe that’s just me not enjoying this decompressed storytelling style very much.
I’m still interested to see where this goes, especially now that Garbett seems to get more comfortable with this book. -
