It's rare to find a fill-in issue that works well within the context of the greater story, but this one absolutely does and it's well-worth a read.

With a deeper story about the isolation that superheroics can sometimes bring, set against the back-drop of a city-wide panic, this is a smart, well-written installment that shouldn't be missed.

A solid installment with some great character growth for a supporting character and a surprise guest-star, you can't go wrong with this if you're looking for a classic, uncomplicated, event-free superhero story.

A satisfying conclusion to an oddly decompressed story, this issue will definitely have you looking forward to what's coming next for everyone's favorite felonious feline.

Another solid, entertaining outing from Tynion, Justice League Dark continues to be the best Justice League book out on the stands today.

An issue bloated with some unnecessary flashbacks and narrative choices, it's not the best issue of Catwoman, but it does set up some very important things near the end.

The book finally seems to be back on track, now that Supergirl had found the answers she was seeking and is finally able to do something about them.

A funny, well-written modern social satire placed against a superheroic backdrop, this book is a must-read.

View Issue       View Full Review

Another decompressed issue with some some funny moments, while this is still better than some Catwoman stories of days gone by, its not living up to the quality that was put forth by the first story arc, and thats a disappointment.

While it's good to be back on the main story, the issue ultimately feels a little light and, therefore, unsatisfying.

A fun, done in one story, it's an entertaining read, but weirdly placed in the middle of a bigger story arc.

A solid, entertaining, putting-the-players-in-place issue, this story continues to flesh out Selina's world in new and interesting ways.

Though it's an action-packed tale filled with some surprising twists, this is an issue that seems to inch further and further away from the core of Supergirl, and that's a disappointment.

This issue takes a little bit of a detour from the crux of Kara's mission, but you still get some beautiful art and some well-written Supergirl, which is well worth a read.

Justice League Dark is, simply put, masterful storytelling at its best.

Though one expects great things from an anniversary issue, this one has it's hits and misses, with two interesting stories followed by one which doesn't serve the title character as well as it ought to.

Justice League Dark continues to be a surprise and a delight with well-crafted interpersonal relationships and interesting (and surprising) plot developments.

Simply put, between the plotting, character work, and art Justice League Dark is the best book coming out of DC's Justice League line.

While the fantasy setting may not be for everyone, this is an entertaining, engaging story with great character moments and an adventurous plot that's a breath of fresh air from some of the heavier stuff the Champions have been dealing with as of late.

Marc Andreyko is doing some stellar work fleshing Kara Zor-El and her world out into something more substantial, and Doc Shaner makes the adventure a visual treat. Highly recommended.

An absolute spectacle of smart storytelling and gorgeous art, this book is a must-buy for fans of both Wonder Woman and the mystical corner of the DC Comics Universe.

Despite the fact that most of the issue takes place in the form of a series of flashbacks, Jones writes a compelling character study about the woman beneath Catwoman's cowl, pushing both Selina and the story forward in a way that only makes this already complex character all the more interesting. This issue comes highly recommended.

This book is a definite treat for fans of Chris Claremont, and the Apocalypse back-up is a nice bonus which has the promise of going to some interesting places. While not ground-breaking in any way, the lead story is a solid, timely read and well-worth a look.

Though it's the conclusion of an arc, it's clearly only the beginning for Tynion, who seems to have plans for each of the characters and has deftly sown the seeds for those plans. X-Men Blue ends on a high-note, gracefully allowing the X-Men to tie up their loose ends before heading into the Extermination event. Andreyko and Maguire hand in a very engaging fresh start to Supergirl, filled with a juicy mystery and some very beautiful character work. This book comes highly recommended.

View Issue       View Full Review

What this issue lacks in action it makes up for by being a magnetic (sorry) character study about a man who has lived a life full of hard choices and the regrets and ghosts those hard choices tend to bring. Its a must-read for fans of Magneto but comes highly recommended even for non-fans. Bunn is clearly building towards an interesting grand finale, and it shouldnt be missed.

Its clear that Jones is someone who loves and respects Selina, and that shines through in her art and her writing, showing a great grasp on the character. With a threatening villain looming, and some incredible character work, this book earns a very high recommendation.

Some good revelations and guest-stars, mixed in with the pay-off of Matt McGinnis finally becoming Robin, earns this book a recommendation for fans of Batman Beyond.

This is the perfect introduction to a new series it sets up the immediate conflict, peppers in enough foreshadowing for future stories and conflicts, brings the team together quickly and urgently, beautifully fleshes out the magical corner of the DC Universe, and does it all with a sense of ease and purpose. Add in some detailed, bright and beautiful art, and you've got a book that earns a very high recommendation indeed.

Though there have been stronger issues of X-Men Blue, this is a solid outing, especially when it focuses on Magneto, which is where Bunn truly shines. This issue earns a solid recommendation, especially for fans of the Master of Magnetism.

A solidly written, beautifully drawn and colored tie-in issue that is anything but, Infinity Countdown: Champions #2 has a lot of heart, depth, and action that will definitely have ramifications in the main Champions book as it pushes the characters forward in some new, interesting directions. This one earns a hearty recommendation, especially if you're a fan of Nova and Ironheart, or if you're reading the main Champions book.

Striking the right balance of drama, action, and pathos, this is theCatwomanbook that fans have been waiting for if only fans can get past the events of Batman #50 to give this book a chance.

A solid story with some plot twists that complicated things for our hero, this is a good, classic action story that has a deepening mystery at its center and some interpersonal drama that promises to make things very difficult for Batman going forward.

View Issue       View Full Review

This was a solid superhero story with plenty of action, some X-Men-appropriate drama, and teases for future stories that could prove to be very, very interesting indeed. This is definitely worth a read if you're a fan of Jimmy Hudson or the Poison storyline that has been running off and on through the X-Books for the past many months now.

View Issue       View Full Review

Though it's simply a two-issue tie-in to a bigger adventure, this is a well-written, beautifully illustrated space adventure, with beautiful art and some great character work. Fans of Nova definitely shouldn't miss this one, and it comes highly recommended as both a great supplement to Jim Zub's work on the Champions ongoing and as a story on its own.

View Issue       View Full Review

This book earns a strong recommendation, especially at the end of its first arc. It's got everything a comics fan could ask for great characters, beautiful art, amazing action scenes, and sparkling dialogue. Zub seems to be gearing up to do some of his best work here, and it's definitely worth tuning in for.

View Issue       View Full Review

While not as dynamic as the last arc, the story promises to develop Jimmy Hudson further and differentiate him from Logan, Daken, Laura, and the other characters in the Wolverine family, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. This earns a definite recommendation if you're a fan of Jimmy or the Poison symbiotes, but if you're not, then this is a story you may want to skip.

A strong ending to an arc that started out shaky, with some incredibly strong character moments and some juicy seeds dropped, this is a book that is clearly continuing to improve. It will be interesting to see where Bunn takes these characters to next on their journey. This book comes highly recommended.

This incarnation of the Batman Beyond bookis heading into a better place than it was when it started out there are long-term plot threads being added, and the conflict between the characters are well-written. If you're looking for a classic superhero adventure story that doesn't wrap itself up in meta-textual narrative or isn't some complicated event but is still a fun, fulfilling read, this book is definitely recommended.

View Issue       View Full Review

Another solid issue by Dan Jurgens, with some very setting-appropriate art by Phil Hester, this was another good installment in expanding the Batman Beyond universe. Though there were maybe a couple of in-story plot-hole hiccups, it's thrilling to see the potential of a new Robin being born. Definitely well worth a read if you're a fan of Batman Beyond and if you're a fan of the ever-growing roster of Robins.

View Issue       View Full Review

While a solid issue of Supergirl, this installment falters greatly as the final issue of a series which, up until this point, had been a gem.

View Issue       View Full Review

This final issue of Mystik U is a well-written ride, even as it feels a little rushed at the end. Alisa Kwitney continues to show her knack for writing smart, strong, capable characters, and though it's the end, for now, this is definitely a universe worth revisiting again. If you're a fan of the mystical side of the DCU, this is well-worth a read.

View Issue       View Full Review

This is an incredible, well-written, well-crafted installment that puts the emphasis on compassion and acceptance while showing that not all heroics are about heat-vision and super-punches. Its possibly one of the best single-issue stories that any of the Big Two will put out this year, and its well-worth a read.

View Issue       View Full Review

One of the best things that this volume of Supergirl has going for it is that its exploring Kara Zor-El both in her civilian identity as Kara Danvers and in her superheroic identity as Supergirl, and its delving into her own insecurities as both, and allowing her some growing pains as she settles into life on Earth with a new identity and family. Previous versions of the character never quite did the same, and its a smart move on Orlando and Housers part. Its clear that they have long-term plans for where they want to take Supergirl, and thats refreshing to see during a time where creators arent really staying on books for that long. If youre looking for a solid, classic, coming-of-age superhero book thats doing some great character work, this is definitely a book you should check out. Its well worth it.
