"The Witching Hour" part three! Everything the Justice League Dark thought they knew about Wonder Woman and Hecate has proven to be wrong...and the Parliament of Trees is about to pay the price! Hecate knows this world isn't strong enough to resist the Otherkind, so she's going to burn it down and replace it with a world of her own...starting with that ancient grove!
Anyone as hooked on this story as I am will be counting down the seven long days until the next chapter. If only I could magic away the next week and grab Wonder Woman #57 right now! Read Full Review
Justice League Dark #4 is a lot in a lot of ways. Our dark and wonderful foray into the world of magic is rather intense, revealing the naivete of some and the wisdom of others. Things are really about to be shaken up, and Dianas inclusion in this story shows that she is not just a warrior, but an agent of magic. There seems to be much in store for us in subsequent chapters, and if this issue is any indication, the team behind the magic will continue to shine. Read Full Review
If you're not reading Justice League Dark by now, you're missing out. At the very least, you won't walk away bored. Read Full Review
This is a very good issue. It takes the story in a natural direction that continues to raises the stakes and has a lot of fun with it. The over the top action is enjoyable paired with good art. It's a little slow at first with the long recap but it quickly picks up and is a very enjoyable read. Read Full Review
As big in scope as Tynion has made the story so far, The Witching Hour is excelling because of the tremendous character work he's doing. John Constantine is hardly optimistic on their chances and Detective Chimp fully grasps the futility of their efforts, but the team continues anyway. It's nice to see a superhero team against such overwhelming odds and refuse to give up. I'm really enjoying this arc and how much fun the magic side of DC can be in the right hands. Read Full Review
A great build up for the Witching Hour, expanding the cast, increasing the stakes in the situation, and leading strongly into the next chapter. Read Full Review

If you haven't yet checked out Wonder Woman #56, then I'd highly suggest doing so. You will need the backstory, and Justice League Dark is one of the most compelling stories to hit stands recently. Read Full Review
Justice League Dark #4 really gave us something to fear about the horrors that Hecate has in store for this world. It was one thing to know that she wanted to burn everything to remake the world for herself, but it was another thing entirely to grasp what it means for her to attack at the heart of everything magic. The panic, the loss, the chaos, all these things were the perfect recipe for a memorable third chapter to the Witching Hour. Read Full Review
As the stakes continue to rise, Tynion continues to distill the best of the magic in the DC Universe and give us an explosive rising action as the The Witching Hour persists. Read Full Review
Martinez Bueno delivers some stunning art in this issue and there are so many great panels to look at. Every scene complements the story well and some of the best moments in it merge the dialogue, the art and the brilliant colors in a way that dazzles. Read Full Review
After three pretty strong issues of Justice League Dark, the series takes a detour through The Witch Hour, a small crossover event that ran through a couple of Wonder Woman books and a pair of bookend releases dedicated to it. This is the only time it crosses into this series and I'll admit I felt lost from the minute it started to the minute it ended. The team put in a gorgeous looking book – I loved looking through it – but nothing really drew me in when it came to the story as I felt like I was missing a lot from the prior installments and that disconnect lasted the whole book. Hopefully, things will be in a better place when the next installment of this series arrives. Read Full Review

There are some really cool moments in this issue that you have to read for yourself, but as good as this issue was the groundwork that has been laid out for issue four makes the upcoming installment even more enticing. I love the direction of this series and I can't wait to read more! Read Full Review
The action and intensity of the story is enough to overcome the annoyance that yet again the universe is about to be destroyed and we had to slog through several titles to get to a resolution that still hasn't arrived. Read Full Review
Fantastically spooky, and brimming with stunning visuals, this one will grip readers hard and hold on with all its got! Read Full Review
Though it will read better as part of a trade paperback (a whole issue of action seems strange in isolation), Justice League Dark #4 is an enjoyable read on it's own, thanks to it's memorable characters, epic scope and stunning visuals. Read Full Review
Make sure you get up to date with Wonder Woman and the Wonder Woman/Justice League Dark issues before picking this one up. Things are truly kicking off, and its starting to looking like our heroes are going to have to pull a bloody big rabbit out of the hat to get out of this one! Read Full Review
The third entry in "The Witching Hour" is uneven but thrilling for the larger questions it asks about not only Wonder Woman but the fate of all magic in the DC world. This won't end pretty but it will be great. Read Full Review
Overall, I am happy with JLD, and I cannot wait for The Witching Hour part five. Read Full Review
Taken in conjunction with the Manitou Dawn body horror moment mentioned earlier, the pair's ability to shift scale is clear. But the issue as a whole reads as a bit too vague and large-scale, with the extensive action overshadowing the idea about the price and weight of magic. Read Full Review
WOW! That was awesome! Alvaro Martinez is becoming one of my top 5 favorite artists today! Keep it up, Witching Hour!
Yes please.
The Witching Hour Ch. 3: I've liked this crossover. As Hecate continues to wreak havoc, the stakes feel higher than ever for this team and there is a real sense of lasting change within DC's magical community coming out of this fight.
Amazing art and cosmic fights
This was better than the previous installment. With the exposition of of the way, things have a bit more room to breathe and the story is better for it.
8.5 plus "A Neal Adams Thing" equals 9.
"Obey!"
The Witching Hour continues to delve deep into the magical side of the DC universe and things are not looking good for our heroes.
Nanda Parbat burns, witch-marked are wreaking havoc and Hecate seems to be winning. Yeah, not a great day for the defenders of magic.
And Tynion together with Martinez, Fernandez, and Anderson deliver us a good story, that loses a bit of its momentum from previous issues, but makes up for that with some great visuals.
Generally good but would be a lot better if there were less narration and more dialogue.
And is Tynion really about to destroy the Green?
Justice League Dark #4 continues as the 3rd part of "The Witching Hour" story arc. Wonder Woman harnesses the power of the "Witchmark" and uses it to confront the Hecate and her champion Manitou Dawn.
The bulk of the issue portrays a huge confrontation between the League and the Hecate. The linework for the issue is outstanding which is par for the course for this series. My only complaint is that the color palate for the issue doesn't really have much variety and even though the pencils are incredible nothing portrayed in the issue really stands out. The script is dense and packed with exposition but nothing within this issue really surprised me at all.
I even called the ending before it happened. It's not a bad comi more
Eh what is so far my favorite issue in the crossover, started out good and slowly went to just ok. Glad that we get more of Deadman and Constantine but hoping we get Ragman in the future. Kirk is still one of my favorites on this team, hes like CLayface when he was in Detectives. Could have sworn in issue 1, Swampy said he was dying, well he sure is doing a lot for a dying man. Holding the whole city together? Maybe if it turns into an animated movie that I'll enjoy it more.
from a base of 6, this gets a rating of: 4.
-1 because: the art was distractingly bad.
-1 because: yep.. now the good guy is the bad guy. worst trope in comics.
