What's a cat burglar to do? When things went bad for her in Gotham, Selina Kyle picked up stakes and moved to set up a new life in Villa Hermosa. Things went about as well as they could for an international super-criminal, particularly now that Catwoman has established herself as a major player in her new town. Too bad the past always has a way of catching up with you. Gotham comes to Catwoman in the form of the Penguin, fresh from his most recent tussle with Batman, and he's not just looking to horn in on Selina's new scheme; he comes bearing hot goss about everything-and everyone-Selina tried to leave behind.

Jolle Jones shows her whit in character interactions, with Selina in particular. Jones and new artist Elena Casagrande change up the character illustration and color. Overall, CATWOMAN #7 totally teases details to the reader, however the missing pieces leave question and excitement for the CATWOMAN #8. Read Full Review

I also have to give props to the gorgeous variant cover by Ben Oliver. Absolutely stunning colors and I love the delicate, sketch-like quality to the piece. Read Full Review

Weird Science - Jim Werner Jan 16, 2019

This is a quick moving issue that is equal parts action and character work and it just might be the most balanced in this series so far.  The art is also really good and I can easily recommend this issue to anyone who has even a slight interest in what Selina has been up to since the kind of wedding. Comic Watch - Amit Malaviya Jan 19, 2019

A decompressed issue that serves as a prologue for what's to come, it's still a very entertaining read that allows Selina to shine in the spotlight. A must-read for any Catwoman fan. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff Jan 16, 2019

Jolle Jones isnt going to be returning to draw Catwoman for the next few months, but shes clearly delivering the same moodiness that she brought to the page in the first six issues of the series. Itll be interesting to see how she works with other artists in the future as Selena Kyles adventures in Villa Hermosa continue. Read Full Review

Geek Dad - Ray Goldfield Jan 16, 2019

Visually, it's a fantastic issue, and that makes up for the slightly thin story. But I'm hoping that the next issue makes this a little more than a generic Catwoman vs. Penguin story, as Joelle Jones' take on Selina has been very good so far and I'm ready to see it take on some more ambitious storylines. Dark Knight News - Adam Ray Jan 16, 2019

The event that kick starts this story into action, and draws Catwoman towards a recognizable person from her past is classic comic-book: A villain does villainous things. It's clear how Selina is different; Catwoman's never motivated to do the right thing, rather, she reacts to another character. Selina is not selfish, however she's not selfless either. Jones perfectly her anti-hero status to move the story in a sincere way. This was an excellent start to a new arc. Read Full Review

Jones does a nice job writing for the other artists in this book. It's the first part of a two part story and while it doesn't have a lot of meat, at least it keeps you going. It's a simple trifle it seems, but an effective one. I look forward to finding out what the Penguin wants from Catwoman next issue. Read Full Review

Comic Book Revolution - Kevin Lainez Jan 21, 2019

Catwoman #7 was a very good set-up issue for a short story arc. The pacing of this issue moved at a rapidly as Joelle Jones positioned Penguin as the latest threat Catwoman has to come up against. In the process Jones does not forget the strong character work around Selina Kyle is the strength of this series. How Catwoman's meeting with Penguin sets the stage for what comes next from this series will be very interesting to see. Read Full Review

DC Comics News - Jay Jan 23, 2019

While I like how they're trying to reconnect Selina to the overarching Batman plot, it's the art that threw me off slightly and loose ends like Creel. Overall, the second part might prove me wrong, and I will gladly recant any slights that I misjudged, but when you have a creator that's both writer and artist on a book, you expect that same quality after a six-issue arc. When a new artist takes over, the different visual aspect of the book affects the writing slightly and this can either be good or bad for a book depending on the quality of the plot itself. In any case, I'm looking forward to seeing what Penguin wants with Selina and how it will affect her life in Villa Hermosa. Read Full Review

Comics: The Gathering - Hussein Wasiti Jan 16, 2019

This just failed on every level for me. I'm sure someone might find somethings to enjoy about this, but the lack of Jones' artwork really goes to show how strong her storytelling gets when she's completely in charge of the story. The plotting was weak and there wasn't anything to really enjoy about this. Read Full Review

My only complain with this issue is, that it felt quite short& ended at the point, where it got really interesting.
Other than that I really liked it. Catwoman acts like herself, Penguin was well portrayed ( glad he’s in Catwoman‘s run)& it was nice to see, that Selina really is taking care of her sister. I hope for more interaction between these two in future issues. And great to see Mrs. Creel isn’t done yet. I however think this run is more enjoyable, if you read it as a collected version.

Quick read and shows us little glimpses of are characters. For a part one of two story arc, we literally get nothing! Should at least tell me little more about the story. The art is pretty good, issue itself awful.

I don't know, this was fine, I guess. There's nothing that stands out here. It just sort of exists. Basically nothing happens in terms of plot. Penguin shows up and wants Catwoman's attention for reasons that'll be explained next issue, I'm sure. With the pacing problems that plague this series, I'm not exactly shocked that it continues to be an overly slow comic with little to say or do. There's just nothing here. But nothing offensive about it either. No plot to latch onto. The art isn't even particularly good. I feel like I'm just repeating myself. This review is almost as padded as this series.

Goodness gracious what an ugly dress, I didn’t expect Catwoman to catch the Mission Impossible plague too. This comic was a lot of nothing.
