Jan 28, 2026Magic might be in Gateway City's air but it's not bringing anything nice with it. Thompson ushers in a very dangerous challenge with her writing. Sherman and Bellaire present stunning visuals that are second to none. This series continues to raise the bar on storytelling. Don't miss it! Read Full Review

Feb 11, 2026With a five-issue story to work with here, I’m just plain excited. Sherman has some fantastic layouts in this that really capture the imagination with how it works, and it works so well for advancing the moment and the story. I just love the look of all the locations, the characters, everything about it. Thompson’s script is welcome in that it’s not trying to be quippy or flippant, and it engages in good dialogue between characters that feels more natural than a lot of others, while avoiding big dense blocks of material. Really excited to see what these new characters will be like as it continues to unfold. Read Full Review

Jan 28, 2026Absolute Wonder Woman #16 is a strong start to a new chapter. Even with a slightly slow-moving subplot in the Senate, the combination of top-tier art and a genuine "what happens next? ending makes this an easy recommendation. Read Full Review

Weird Science - Gabe Hernandez
Jan 28, 2026Absolute Wonder Woman #16 rights the ship and proves that issue 15's problems weren't terminal. This is a comic that understands the difference between setup and execution; it plants threats while Diana remains oblivious, it develops character through action rather than exposition, and it trusts readers to piece together danger without being told. The book isn't perfect. The Parasite remains vague enough to confuse, the magic-binding mechanism needs clarification, and Area 41 feels visually generic. But the improvements are substantial and measurable. Read Full Review

Jan 28, 2026The subject matter itself isn't weak, it's the presentation. Absolute Wonder Woman #16 is unfortunately the weakest issue thus far and not even the flirtatious nature of Zatanna can fix that. Read Full Review

For the first time since the inaugural storyline, Diana seems to be up against a villain that is truly her ultimate match. Great character work as always is mixed with drama, suspense and action as the subplot with Cale enters a new, more dire phase. Between this issue and this week's Absolute Batman 16 featuring Diana, it's a fantastic week to be an Absolute Wonder Woman fan!

I still think it's ridiculous that this won an Eisner and Absolute Batman did not. It's still good though. It's not at the bottom in terms of quality for the Absolute universe, the distinction goes to Absolute Green Lantern.

Kelly Thompson continues her awesome run on this book. Putting out banger after banger. Each time it has a lull she hits a home run the next issue. Well done Kelly. This new take on zatana is very fun. Great character design and Kelly respects her audiences intelligence enough not to spoon feed us exposition.

This was a setup issue for sure. We get a whole bunch of unrelated scenes throughout this issue, assuming setting up for the rest of this arc. I do like the team that Veronica Cale put together, and that Zatanna has tapped into her magic, but left her arm intact. My Review Channel - https://youtu.be/B7fe-NLdkqw

Magic’s New Master: Absolute Zatanna Debuts as the "Season of the Witch" Begins! Absolute Wonder Woman 16 begins "The season of the witch" five issue arc. The issue begins a flashback of young Diana in Hell, visited by Aphrodite. From there get a ridiculous scene with Steve Trevor, and some sinister back and forth with Veronica Cale in Area 41 with her scientists. We swipe to Museum exhibition opening where Diana is the guest of honor. I'm still not clear why Diana passes out, but we get teen Diana in Hell training with Artemis. When she awakens seconds later, she can't feel her magic. Zatanna appears with the Absolute Suicide Squad. Diana and Zatanna lock eyes. We get a flashback to AB WW#14 and are reminded that Zatanna control more
