DC Comics News - Matthew Lloyd Oct 25, 2017

Prepare to think a little bit about our own world as we see similarities to it in Action Comics #990. Though not a new idea, it is particularly effective in this case as Superman must try to get everyone to get along in order to stop the machinations of his(?) terrorist sponsor father. I really want to see where this goes. Jurgens and Bogdanovic are well-practiced in comics and especially Superman stories. They have told some of the best and this is shaping up to join them. Read Full Review

Pop Culture Uncovered - Joshua Evans Oct 25, 2017

This fourth installment of "The Oz Effect" arc plays the panels fast and loose, cutting with cinematic precision between the individual quests of all major players. The irony of the paradise Mr. Oz promises, in the face of the Armageddon he's creating, comes to blazing breathing life with every page turn. Read Full Review

Lyles Movie Files - Jeffrey Lyles Oct 25, 2017

The Oz Effect keeps building on the past arcs from Action Comics and Superman, which give it an added sense of importance. Its nice to see a solid story behind such a shocking return. I wouldnt bet against Jurgens and Bogdanovic at this point. Read Full Review

Comics: The Gathering - Batmanaruto Oct 25, 2017

In conclusion, this was a solid issue of the Oz Effect. I would even dare to say it was the strongest issue so far. One aspect I also love is how Jurgens ties Mr Oz back to the events in the first issue of this new run. As long as the book progresses like this, it could become a really great Superman story. Comic Watch - Alexander Miranda Nov 4, 2017

Majority of Ozs plan is revealed but we are left still wondering who or what the unstoppable force coming to destroy Earth is. It is mentioned that The Justice League cant stop it? Intriguing. There is action and well-drawn art to get this issue by, even with the story slowly progressing to the finale. I am surprised, yet impressed, with the certain direction they are taking the characters to and I look forward to the next issue impatiently. Read Full Review

    Comicosity - Terrence Sage Oct 25, 2017

Action Comics is making great strides for another Superman: Action Comics arc that pushes the envelope of the character and his family to new places. Jurgens makes connections to the beginning of his Rebirth run and finally delivering on planted seeds, gives us everything we could ask for in an issue of Action Comics.Bogdanovic is capturing the adventures nicely and makes the book worth it with his visualization of dynamic and quieter scenes. The Oz Effect is a timely story for not only Superman, but for 2017 at large and having our hero combat a world that doesn't look far off from our own packs a layered punch to the otherwise super heroic tale. Supergirl Comic Box Commentary - Anj Oct 27, 2017

So all in all, this issue just enriched the plot so far with some small steps forward. I was very entertained by this and when it was done I wished the next issue was out and already in my hand. That is a good sign. I hope we get more Jor-El back story. How is he manipulating things? Where has he been all those years? Why now? Read Full Review

While a lot of this issue rehashes the same old things that we've been seeing from this arc, it does eventually get exciting and makes me really interested in what we're going to get from the next issue.  The art in this issue is great and it finally feels like we're getting somewhere with the Oz Effect. Comic Book Bin - Philip Schweier Oct 25, 2017

As I said afew issues ago, its likely this story will run up to the landmark Action Comics #1,000. It moves a bitslower than I would like, but thats an unfair assessment, as I have no ideawhat the next 10 issues will entail. My hope is that the creative team canremain in place for the duration of the story. I find it frustrating whenartists step away mid-way through a storyline. I dont fault them for it, Iblame the editor. He should manage the workload, and provide the art staff withthe resources they require. Read Full Review

    IGN - Blair Marnell Oct 26, 2017

There may be some Doomsday Clock foreshadowing here, but as its own story, "The Oz Effect" is simply okay. Considering who Mr. Oz is supposed to be in relation to Superman, it deserves to be much better than that. Read Full Review

On Comics Ground - Scott Shuken Oct 25, 2017

Four issues down in the great Oz epic and once again we learn the "true" motivation for Oz's plan. He knows that a new Big Bad is on his way and he wants to get the hell outta dodge with his family, that's all. It now feels like the big plot to get all of humanity to act like dicks for a while was more about stalling and allowing his plan to take four issues to explain and less about teaching Superman anything about humanity. So once again we are reminded that this story is really just a set-up for another, almost certainly Doomsday Clock. Read Full Review
