The most compelling part of this story is the parallel created between Superman and Lois as both search for their fathers. Read Full Review
Its nice seeing Booster back in a good storyline, which hopefully is the first of many. The twists Jurgens takes so far have led to some unexpectedly touching and surprising moments. I appreciate this arc is further exploring the emotional toll of learning Ozs identity for Superman and its kept Action Comics as essential reading for DC fans. Read Full Review
Superman and Booster try to escape a past that never should have existed. The action is good, the drama heartbreaking, and the tease for next issue excellent. I wish that there had been only one artist and one inker for this issue, because there are pages that don't gel with the rest of the issue. That said, I need to have Booster Gold back in his monthly book after reading this! Read Full Review
This has definitely firmly established itself as the best Superman book right now. Read Full Review
Mr Jurgens, you are indeed a tease and Action Comics #994 was a fun read that definitely had parallels to the classic Superman stories of the 90's but with a modern twist. I enjoyed seeing the team-up between Booster Gold and Superman which created an interesting story that I'm sure will have major repercussions on the Man of Steel and I'm eager to see where all these chess pieces fall. While I would have loved a bit more time delving into Lois's investigation into her father's capture, Action Comics #994 still brings the old-school thrills and fun that I really want from a Superman title. Read Full Review
An even mix of action, fun and character make this issue another solid chapter in the post-Rebirth era of Superman. It may not come quickly, but it seems certain Superman will get his answers about Jor-El and Oz. But first, there's more time travel fun to be had next issue as the Eradicators will certainly not be welcome in the 25th century. As Superman's future was threatened this issue, it appears that Booster's existence will be challenged next. Read Full Review
The artworkin this issue is a bit of a challenge for me, though. Dan Jurgens providedpencils, which were then finished by no less than four inkers. The changingstyles were a bit jarring, and I may have preferred one or two fewer artistsinvolved. But I understand the nature of deadlines. Perhaps when DC returns toits monthly publishing schedule, well see more stable art teams in place. Read Full Review
Action Comics continues the push to #1,000 with a Superman tale that calls back to the character's roots while charting new ground and exploring new angles to his history. Jurgens pulling double duty works well enough with the art only misstepping and the inkers fitting in line with both the action and talkative beats while the coloring and lettering brings it all together. This latest story arc is very intriguing though it does oddly force Superman to come off as arrogant and selfish. Read Full Review
Overall, the storyline is a fun one and a change of pace from the previous focus on Mr. Oz. At the same time, it also continues what's set up there. This is a prime example of the popcorn fun comics can be and continues a story I can't wait to see where it goes. Read Full Review
Seeing Superman and Booster Gold together is a fun team up but due to some miscues with the writing, I don't feel like the teamwork was at it's fullest in this issue. Read Full Review
We're reaching a point where it just feels like the story is bullying Superman, but the plot isn't really moving or doing anything. No answers, no information, just an odd recreation of the famous Black Mercy story. Read Full Review
And for some reason, Superman actually considering having this new timeline overwrite the old one seems off to me. I understand the enormity of this. How do you decide to move forward to 'repair' the destruction of a planet and a culture? But I just think our Superman would be the one to say 'this new timeline isn't right'. I hope all will turn out well. Read Full Review
If you want some time travel jargon that may or may not make sense to you....... Well, you'll get it here along with some fights from an alternate timeline and Lois talking about things we learned last issue. With that nonsense though, the art looks good in this issue and there are some parts of this that seem at least interesting. Read Full Review
ACTION COMICS #994 is a fun, thrilling ride for fans of Silver Age zaniness, but doesnt offer much beyond that. At a higher price, it may be a pass, but at $2.99, its a solid option for Booster Gold fans, or anyone looking for something light. Read Full Review
While this comic has its fun moments, the pointless nature of this plot cul-de-sac make it pretty frustrating to read. Given how hard it is to track down Booster Gold in a comic book these days, I can understand wanting to grab it anyway. However, I cant recommend this one. Give it a pass. Hopefully next issue will be better. Read Full Review
Another good issue. The story is interesting and the art is very suiting. I'd love to see Jurgens being the artist to this book. Might be just me, but I am a big sucker for the time travelling stories, and the inclusion of Krypton is just a cherry on the top.
Better than the last by a huge margin. The first issue of this arc was struggling to find a pace and keep the story interesting, but the second corrects a good deal of those mitakes while still being lacking where it counts. Once again, I can't help but feel like the story wants to be bigger than it actually is. The freaking past has changed and Krypton survived, butwhy does it not move anyt hing inside of me? Probably because they found a way to erase everything again with some more of less explained gimmick like they always do. I'm starting to lose hope in AC and I hope they will correct it course soon.
I really really really dislike alternate timelines stories. They are so hard to pull off and make worthwhile yet so easy for writers to think they can do it well. Rarely works out and it struggles here.
This Booster Gold new issues was very nice ^^
Jurgens was the previous Booster Gold Writer, so when he use is voice as the narrator, that work well.
But as a superman issue, I'm a little disappointed.
Sure the man of steel smart enough to use one of Booster's gloves.
But I have trouble see him levitated in the stair when Booster Facts that he as "No Power".
Like seen him stuborn enough to want to stay when is presence may break is timeline.
I also hard time understanding is feeling when he look as the other timeline. Like he miss something. Like Lois & Jon are a distante feeling. If he haven't them I would have understanding, but not with his actual statu.
I find the excape a little easy, but I rather pre more
