Overall, a heck of a lot happens here, and for a book often criticized for being the worst example of decompressed storytelling in the New 52, thats a great turnaround. If youve been disappointed in the past, this might be a great issue to try (if only for its newfound historical importance). The conclusion to the The Villain's Journey is a great issue not only for those who have stuck with the series, but anyone who wants to hop on now–which is really rare for an arc's final issue. Jim Lee's artwork is gorgeous, especially in the quieter moments and there's even some art by Ivan Reis, Joe Prado, and David Finch at the back of the book that teases what's to come in future issues. I think the only people who are going to be really disappointed by this issue are Flash fans because that guy didn't contribute much at all to this fight or the events that follow. Justice League #12 does an excellent job capping off a first year that saw the team come together and face more than just villains. Geoff Johns is slowly figuring out the team's voice and how they honestly fit into the greater DC universe. It's a difficult task, no doubt, but Johns has a long history with Teen Titans, and his pre-'New 52' work on Green Lantern included some of the characters best stories in years. Now, after taking the time to give us readers the basic stuff, it's time to go into new territory. Obviously, Superman and Wonder Woman's relationship is leading this trend, and coupled with Hal Jordan's resignation, we're sure to be in for an exciting 2013. Read Full Review

Well, the first year is over. On the whole, I'm enjoying this book more than I was at the start of this arc. Hopefully the characters will continue to show growth into their more classic, re: Heroic, selves. The previews for next year's stories have me jazzed, as does the announcement of a Justice League OF AMERICA book, featuring the likes of J'Onn, Hawkman, Green Arrow, and Catwoman. It seems like DC is trying to copy Marvel's success with their franchise of AVENGERS books, which I hope really does pan out. Read Full Review

There you have it. The big Wonder Woman/Superman hook-up has happened, and it is... confusing in some ways. Has Geoff Johns found a way to make this pairing interesting by portraying it as a bad thing for all involved? I do kind of hope so, because the alternative makes me sleepy. Still, this is possibly the strongest issue of the series so far even beyond the big lip lock. We have the defeat of a new villain who actually does turn out to be interesting and unique in his own right. We have characters interacting with each other with some actual substance fitting their personalities. While the second Justice League arc did not impress beyond imagination, it had some solid moments towards the end. The final pages from Ivan Reis and David Finch offer up some super-teaser images accompanied by some tantalizing copy. Those preview pages put a smile on my face because they evoked the comic advertising tactics from an era long past. On top of all of the shocking revelations contained here, we are also treated to some brief previews to upcoming stories. The new Justice League of America series looks exciting, but the one I'm probably most excited about, though, is the first meeting of Superman and Shazam (formerly Captain Marvel in the old DC Universe) and, what looks to be, a knock-down, drag-out between the two. The rest of the story has to deal with the team taking down Graves by believing in Christmas (or some such nonsense – this isn't the strongest part of the comic). What's important to note, however, are the big changes following the battle and the public's shaken faith in the team. Hal Jordan quits, Steve Trevor is fired, and we're teased with the introduction of a new Justice League of America which will premiere next year (and Captain Marvel beating the emo out of The Big Blue Boy Scout). While I'm still not sure they are going to be an actual couple, I like the direction they are going in. It didn't make sense from a storyline perspective since they have had very little interaction in the new 52. However, the sexual tension between the two has been evident for years. Lots of fans, including myself, have always wanted to see what life would be like with this super couple and now it appears we are getting our wish. "Justice League" as a title has underperformed to my expectations, and this issue is yet another example of that. Johns and Lee are competent in their storytelling, but the adventures and situations just haven't seemed big enough for the League yet and the infighting among the members is getting stale. With the resolutions in this issue, it appears as though some traction might be made towards blending the personal and professional sides of these heroes in a fashion worthy of the title. The zero issue brings a full-length Shazam story, but in October, we'll hopefully see some evolution for "Justice League." Read Full Review

Justice League #12 does a good job setting in motion the future of the DC Universe. This issue is able to wrap up the David Graves revenge storyline while giving us a lot teases to what comes next. Geoff Johns has made things exciting for the Justice League as book continues to have a big event feel. At the same time timeline issues and certain character choices keep the book from being as excellent as it should be. Still, there is a lot to be excited for as we head into the Trinity War. There is no reason that this book can't be what DC wants it to be: the destination where new readers can go for exciting stories featuring iconic characters. The issue ends with the heroes standing around feeling sorry for themselves and questioning everything they do which is neither heroic or exciting. The last two pages, though, reveal a new Justice League of America roster that includes the Martian Manhunter, Green Arrow, Hawkman and some other b-listers but will hopefully offer up new storylines to replace the ones dragging this series down. Justice League is hanging onto my pull-list by a thread. So much of this issue seemed made up on the spot that I was lost and Ive read every issue of this current Justice League volume.
