It will be interesting to see where both of these stories go as the limited series wraps next issue and if it somehow connects to the story being told. Read Full Review

But Why Tho? - William Tucker Jul 11, 2023

Knight Terrors: Green Lantern #1 puts up a fight against fear. A comic that actually sits comfortably within the existing story being told, it shows how Insomnia works his power against two Lanterns that have a history with that emotion and being manipulated. Read Full Review

With larger crossover events such as this, it is easy for tie-ins to overpower character development and ongoing story arcs. I'm glad that Jeremy and the team go to plan for this particular plot pivot, and I have confidence that Hal's inner journey will tie back into his ongoing adventures. For a crossover comic,Knight Terrors: Green Lantern #1manages to tell quite a story while fitting into the larger special event narrative. Read Full Review

Blog Of Oa - Myron Rumsey Jul 11, 2023

All in all, Knight Terrors: Green Lantern #1 met my expectations about how things would play out for Hal Jordan when he's facing a being focused on preying on someone's fears. Despite the predictable scabs for Insomnia and Jeremy Adams to pull off of Hal, the story is still strong and provides some clues about the events preceding the new series while showing that it will take something extraordinary to break Hal's will. Eduardo Pansica's art shines brightly here, and the creative team of Alex Segura and Mario Foccillo do a good job of showcasing a Sinestro we haven't really seen before. Eight out of ten lanterns. Knight Terrors: Green Lantern #1 is a well-written and well-drawn comic that didn't need to exist. It has nothing to do with the main Knight Terrors conflict and nothing to do with the main Green Lantern series already in progress. Overall, Adams does a great job with what he was given. DC Comics News - Matthew Lloyd Jul 11, 2023

Eduardo Pansica does a nice job delivering on the visuals as he delves a little into the horror and gives Hal some terrified looks as he faces down his "fears. Knight Terrors: Green Lantern #1 also contains a Sinestro story that appears to pick up from his surprise appearance in Green Lantern #1. Sinestro also appears to be affected by Insomnia's attack and he has his own fears. There's some real irony here as Sinestro is known for operating in fear. At its core this back up seems to he more interesting than the lead story due to this irony and that there's a lot more potential for revelatory storytelling with Sinestro. Readers know a lot about Hal Jordan including the biggest obstacles he's faced in his life. Read Full Review

Awesome cover and nice story that feels a bit weird considering the main story is only 2 issues gone??? DC sometimes confuses me with all these crossovers that really screw up the main feature. I wish someone would make these crossovers a separate theme that doesn’t make me need to read about 60 comics to get nowhere. Anyway rant aside I enjoyed it so worth the admission price.

So this stuff is more standard horror. Some good horror art and all that, but story wise, mostly just exploring Hal's fears. Nothing too crazy. Though I will give a +1 point as it looks like Adams is actually trying to keep the flow of his Green Latern book by tying it into this event. I do look forward to see if that is how it plays out, and how this nightmare will affect Hal's life/actions afterwards. That does seem more promising.

Backup story was ok. Really not sure where it is heading for now. Will have more judgments once the second issue gets out.

This is kind of run-of-the-mill scary dream stuff, but Adams writes it well enough for it to be engaging and entertaining. I also appreciate that Adams kind of set this up to be tied in the main Green Lantern run. While the art here is not quite Xermánico's, it's still nice and looks good throughout. I'm not really sure how I feel about Sinestro's backup story, but I'm just hoping it sets up his return in the main series. Overall, this was a well-written issue that presents a story I'm looking forward to seeing play out next month.

I like that this tie-in was a part of its character’s ongoing series more than others’ seems to be, and that it has some themes that may turn up again once this event is over. There are some creepy visuals as well, but the stakes feel low considering no one seems to be in any real danger. It’s annoying that this has put the ongoing series on pause for two months after it’s only had two issues, and I would rate this lower for ruining the strong momentum that’s been building. However, as it’s own story this is fine, even good, so I’m not going to factor that problem into my scoring. It is a bit run of the mill, though, not offering much new. I feel pretty much the same way about the Sinestro backup.

Another week, another DC character dealing with issues related to their parents’ death. Similar to last week’ BATMAN tie-in, Hal Jordan’s nightmare includes a flashback to his father’s death, which has also been told far too many times to be interesting. It’s also not the only past event that Hal must deal with that has also been explored in previous Lantern stories. There was also a Sinestro backstory at the end which serves as a mini tie-in to the Knight Terrors event, which I guess was fine?

I appreciated how Jeremy Adams seamlessly tied this story into GREEN LANTERN #2’s narrative, which hasn’t been the case for other characters who have their own ongoing series paused while the Knight Terror event unfolds. Edu more
