MILLAR and CAPULLO's epic sci-fi fantasy story continues. After her death, Bonnie is reborn in Adystria and has a sword thrust into her hand. As the evils within the Dark Lands get stronger, she is Adystria's only hope: their savior.
This issue had the essence of a full blown, television sci-fi series. It had perfect pacing with both entertaining and informative elements of world building. Read Full Review
Reborn #2 has me intrigued. I think its a really cool concept and I just love the sci-fi fantasy setting. I want to go explore this world with Bonnie and her dad and go on an adventure with them both. Im looking forward to seeing where this story is going and how its going to develop and unfold. Seriously, do yourself a favour and grab as copy ASAP! Read Full Review
The only qualm I had is that Bonnie is taking this all a bit too in stride, but what the hell do I know? This is a brand new take on what happens when we leave the mortal coil, and in this world Millar and Capullo are the experts. I'm excited to see this story get more fleshed out, to see the motivations behind the peripheral characters, and to just lap up Capullo's art like a sloppy dog. Read Full Review
If you like storytelling and the act of telling epic stories then read Reborn because it will expand your mind. The concept is compelling and feels utterly unique, with art that's gorgeous enough to taste. Read Full Review
All in all, this is definitely a buy and I can't recommend this enough and can't wait to see what comes in the next issue. Read Full Review
If you love fantasy, then this book is absolutely perfect for you. I love that we aren't just getting another by the numbers genre book, but something where there is a larger mystery going on with a ton of unanswered questions. What are Bonnie's powers? Who was Lord Golgotha in a past life or was he always here? Are people who they say they are? Why do people come into this world at different ages, and not at the age when they die? I plan to find out by continuing to read this excellent series, and you should too. Read Full Review
Reborn looks like a series that will give the reader a great experience. After two issues it already is extremely interesting, although it's clear that there is still a lot to be discovered. Read Full Review
Greg Capullo's art – as always – is incredibly solid. The good people look great, and the bad people look hellish and demonic. Detail is present in every inch of the page and this new world we're exploring looks incredible. Read Full Review
Reborn is turning into a fun fantasy adventure with plenty of twist and turns ahead. Greg Capullo and Mark Millar have created wonderful world that feels alive and vibrant. The only complaint I would have would be that this current issue and issue #1 both are really set up issues. I think it would have served the book better overall if issue #1 would have been and over-sized issue to start with, but that is the only flaw I could see. The basic world and concept are set up and Bonnie is off on her adventure and I am very muchlooking forward to what happens next! Read Full Review
But if I'm keepin it a buck, General Frost is the character that gives me the most insight into this world. This cat is another one of Bonnie's old pets, but this feline is bathed in Dark Lands gloom. Ya see, General Frost didn't have the warm, loving life of eating ice cream in the park with Bonnie that Roy-Boy got. She didn't hold her cat through the night as he passed away. He got cat food and his balls clipped at the tender age of 9 months! My cats and dem don't forget!! Those memories have spawned a cold blooded killer in this life. A fur ball with a vendetta, and Golgotha is here for all of it. General Frost showcases his particular set of skills and capabilities by launching six ice daggers through the bodies of Golgotha's servants! Ice skewers. And with that, our issue ends with Lord Golgotha basically saying, "It's lit! Prepare a team of hitters." Read Full Review
Though no real battle goes on in this issue, the stage is set, and emotional and mental wars were fought all the way to the last page. Reborn continues to impress and turn heads, and proves it's a series that should be on your pull list. Read Full Review
The issue closes out giving us a dire first impression of the villains residing in the Dark Lands. One in particular has a long history with Bonnie, her old cat is holding a grudge for having its testicles removed! The lands are dark indeed and give but a hint of the looming dark tide that Bonnie seems destined to stymie. Only two issues into the world of Reborn and already its potential discoveries and clashes tug at my psyche the way few stories have, do yourself a favor and dare to be reborn. Read Full Review
It's still early yet, but the untapped potential is nonetheless enticing. Read Full Review
I think this story is full of great potential and I have no doubt that Millar, Capullo, Glapion, Plascencia, Piekos and the editors will achieve all of it. Read Full Review
It was the biggest release of the month last month, and really its a killer second issue, which is exactly what it needed. I would highly recommend this issue, and look forward to the rest of the series! Read Full Review
While not as moving or beautiful as last month's, "Reborn" #2 was an enjoyable step in what looks to be " in this writer's opinion " the best thing with Millar's name on it in a long time. Read Full Review
I'm not quite having flashbacks of Chrononauts, but this is a far cry away from Huck. I'll continue to check out Millar's work, but I don't know if I'll ever be head over heels in love with his stuff again. It's a lot of high concept ideas, paired with top artistic talent, but there's always something missing. Wish I knew what it was so I could add it to my review, but for now Reborn has me as a reader. For how long is up to the creative team. Read Full Review
Great world-building in Capullo's art in this issue--this book is beautiful to look at. The "good" and "bad" people afterworld idea struck me as a bit simple at first, but it has the potential to make the "Where's Harry?" question much more interesting. Overall, the conceit is played well by Millar/Capullo. This is a fun read.
Just warming up. Millar tells great tales and this will be no different!!!
Not great, just fine
Not as good as the opening issue. I hope this doesn't run out of steam as quickly as 'Empress' did.
So far the art is the main attraction..
It's ok. Maybe it's just me, but so far, it feels kind of like the old lady version of Starlight. The art's pretty. *shrug*
This issue is pretty slow and it doesn't come close to having the emotional impact of the first issue. There is a lot of world building and rule learning in this issue, but not much else. The ending however is fairly interesting. The art is great, especially the little details like the random creatures in the background. While this issue was probably appropriate for this point in the story, and while there is a huge potential with this series, this issue was nothing special.
