Guardians of the Galaxy #12 lives up to the full potential of the epic confrontation it portrays. It's an all-out mental and visual assault. But though the volume is cranked to maximum, there's no risk of overload or feedback here; the talented creative team is in full control at all times. It's a dramatic fight that will put your heart and particularly your head through the wringer. It delivers you, panting and excited, at the dawn of a new era for the Guardians. Bring it on! As both a concluding and introductory chapter, this single issue is an outstanding accomplishment and one that frames the most creatively accomplished era for the Guardians since they first appeared on the big screen; it seems the best is yet to come and that's quite a statement considering the past 12 issues are some of the best Guardians of the Galaxy comics ever published. Overall. A brilliantly fun story and the end of an era for one incarnation of Guardians of The Galaxy and a brilliant introduction to what will likely come next. Read Full Review
This wall to wall action issue manages to still pack the emotional much the series has built its reputation on. The art is stunning, and deserves to be studied for how effective it is at storytelling. In short, Guardians continues to quietly be one of the best superhero books on the stands. Read Full Review
Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.
And it's awesome.
The Guardians defeat the Olympians in a goofy, gloriously-illustrated brain-twister of a fight. Along the way, Moondragon and Phyla-Vell reconcile and the readers are treated to a li'l Infinity Stone secret. It all wraps up with an optimistic new status quo and snazzy new jackets. It's psychedelic and ambiguous and ambitious as hell, and I love it. "Pynchonesque" is not an adjective I throw around lightly in describing comic books, but this one is it.
Abstract art meets 80's metal, psychedellic colors and does the monster mash with mythologies ranging from the Greek to the undying esoteric. If GOTG weren't super heroes before, I am ready to see Ewing stick that definition to them, since he seems to be able to pull out the elements of whatever he touches and put the best on display.

This is a fantastic issue, and a good wrap up to this phase of Ewing's Guardians. A lot has been done to morph Marvel Cosmic towards this new direction, through this title, Empyre and SWORD, so I hope it pays off. I'm excited to see what is done with the new status quo, and given that it isn't being ignored outside of these books, how the rest of the Marvel Universe reacts.

Well done with this group and this issue felt really nice to read. There are too many characters and it's about to get crazier. I hope some don't get lost. Cabal's art is fantastic as always and he will be missed.
Absolutely gorgeous art. Extrmy creative action that can only he done in a comic. This is high quality
Cool, cool.

The Olympians have returned seeking the death of Peter Quill and all who fought beside them. However, in their arrogance, the Olympians have underestimated the Guardians of the Galaxy and all eventually meet their downfall leaving only Zeus in the end. The combined power of Starlord and Moondragon focused through Marvel Boy’s ultimate weapon is all it takes to banish the elder God forever. With the Galactic Counsel seeing more
Weak action. Promising ending though.
I'm looking forward to the next chapter but this issue felt so rushed.
At the end of the day after all the hype, Ewing achieved absolutely nothing with his run so far, we're back to square one.
