THE THING AND THE INFAMOUS IRON MAN - UNRAVELING THE SECRETS OF SECRET WARS!
There is but one place in the Multiverse where VICTOR VON DOOM holds no sway. A spot where even DOOM can be judged and tamed. A place that houses...THE COUNCIL OF REEDS. Can Doom escape with his life in order to save BEN & JOHNNY?
Rated T+
This issue was loaded with greatness. A standout issue in this already good series most definitely. I hope they keep the momentum going. As I mentioned, Doom is always interesting, and his dialogue with Reed almost gave me chills. The rivalry has withstood the test of time. This series is rocking right now, I say it all the time, GET ON IT!! Read Full Review
Zdarsky has been doing a phenomenal job on Marvel 2 in 1 and this issue continued that trend. This book still remains at the top of my pull list and it should be at the top of all of yours too. Pick this up, I have no doubt you'll love it. Read Full Review
A strong issue that focuses on Dr. Doom. Read Full Review
While it could have benefitted from a better artistic match to its subject matter, and may have changed an element of Secret Wars for the worse, it is nevertheless one of the best Fantastic Four stories in years, one that will surely get readers hyped for the team's return in August. Marvel Two-in-One Annual #1 is a great issue. It ties in well with what is happening with the regular series while answering some old questions about Dr. Doom that have been lingering on for quite a while. Plus, how can you not like the art duo of Declan Shalvey and Jordie Bellaire delivering some sequential goodness? Has Dr. Doom truly turned over a new leaf or will the truth finally set him free? One way to find out read Marvel Two-in-One Annual #1. Read Full Review
Chris Zdarsky isn't going to make it easy to bring back Marvel's flag-ship title. This story can get a little confusing if you don't follow it closely. Read Full Review
Put plainly, Marvel Two-in-One Annual #1 is an excellent comic. Zdarsky, Shalvey, and Bellaire deliver superior work that examines and enhances one of Marvel's best villains, and introduces the potential for a lot of future stories. Read Full Review
"Marvel Two In One Annual" #1 is an unsettling story that adds to the tension and mystery around Ben Grimm's search for his teammates. Read Full Review
Chip Zdarsky is more than just a funny guy. He writes Marvel 2-in-One with a pathos that's necessary for the Fantastic Four and for Doctor Doom most of all. Read Full Review
This single issue encapsulates the essential tragedy of Doctor Doom, linking it from the very origins of his rivalry to the fallout of Secret Wars. It is a tragedy so well framed that longtime fans of the FF should leave the issue nearby to return to it often in the months to come. Read Full Review
I wanted to like the Marvel 2-in-One Annual as much as I've liked the six "Fate of the Four" issues that just wrapped up. Sadly, I found the whole thing quite unsatisfying. Read Full Review
Didn't expect to see the Council of Reeds again, nor additional details for what transpired during the ending of the 2015 Secret Wars. Very nice.
10 for only the art.
I love you, angry metal man.
A Doom-centric special offers up a brain-popper of a theory as to why Reed and Sue seem dead in the 616. Victor is displeased to hear it, and also to discover a new force at work in the multiverse. The key idea is positively world-class, but two factors dissuade me from a perfect rating. First, the art is a little too minimalist and a little too easy to forget. Second, the way the issue plays out essentially takes this great idea and wraps it up in paper stamped "feel free to ignore this, future writers of Doom."
This issue was super fun and interesting to read. I loved the Counsel of Reeds and the conversation Reed has with Victor, and the Victor vs. Victor battle was cool as well. Chip Zdarsky has done a great job writing a secret "Fantastic Four" book with "Marvel Two-in-One," and this is one of the most entertaining series I'm currently reading. And the Declan Shalvey art is just...fantastic! Great stuff.
A superb annual, with a serious psychological insight in Doom's mind and past, but also hilarious interactions between Doom, Ben and the Council. Amongst all this, a shocking revelation that starts to give a bit of sense to what happened to Doom after "Secret Wars" THREE years ago. Marvel has really wanted to keep the F4's story on hold, but now that we can finally find it out, it's great.
I was going to drop Two-In-One after the last arc , but stuck around for the annual. Really glad I did. Not familiar with Declan Shalvey, but I really liked his Doom and felt Zdarsky wrote the hell out of our favorite Latverian ruler. Good to see he'll remain cosmically entangled with Reed for all time! Why didn't Chip Zdarsky get the official FF return? (in my mind this counts!)
Great hype for the FF!! Doom's exploration by Zdarsky is great!! Shalvey's art is good and has some nice scenes but somehow doesn't fit well.
Welcome to the Oblivion Bar where the first round is on me and the pretzels are free! Be warned: like the pickled eggs at the bar, this issue is going to get SPOILED rotten.
The issue opens with Ben and Doom sneaking into Doom’s Castle but in a different universe. They tracked the signature of one of the Reeds to here so they followed his signature and found a dead Reed Richards all strung out and a Doom that literally just killed that universes Thing.
Ben tries to go toe-to-toe with that Doom but fails miserably. Our Doom puts up a good fight for a while until they resort to hand to hand combat to see which Doom is the better Doom. The alternate universe Doom has our Doom dead to rights until he falls on the corp more
Why would someone say no to an issue of a well written Doom? Especially if it's also starring a certain character..or a multiple versions of him.
A lot of Doom, more clues to the whereabouts of the rest of FF and puts us one step closer to FF's return. We couldn't ask for much more.
A psychological issue about the mind of Doom. Nice, but nothing special, this has been done before multiple times.
An interesting issue that does a good job explaining Doom's changes between Secret Wars and Infamous Iron Man.
I have been a big fan of this title since it started, but the annual did nothing for me. I found it boring with not so great art.
