It felt very agenda driven, with no real concern for the character.
The Marvels Snapshot tour through Marvel history continues, showcasing Marvel's greatest characters through the eyes of ordinary people! Or does it? In this case, the "ordinary person" is teenaged Scott Summers, witnessing the dawn of the Marvel Age from a Nebraska orphanage and wondering what his place in it might be. This book worked on two levels for me. As a perfect character study of Scott Summers, giving him a fair shake for once, and also as a love letter to all us fans, reminding us of the sense of awe the first time we saw these characters. They changed Scott's life, and they also changed ours. Jay Edidin really gets that. To paraphrase one of my favourite TV shows" 'After all these years, I still look back with wonder'. The art throughout mixes a classic feel with an incredibly unique look that pops in just the right places. The colors are a vital part of the story-telling as we shift from reflective and action packed moments. This book should be required reading for every filmmaker, writer and editor who ever misunderstood what makes Cyclops such an amazing, complex character, hero and leader. Read Full Review

This issue was like a breath of fresh air to me. A top-notch story that by the end of the issue had me changing my opinion in a big way about Cyclops. Another rarity is an oversized issue that in this reviewer's opinion is well worth the extra dollar! Jay Edidin deserves a shot on a Cyclops ongoing for sure! Come on Marvel, you know you've got more X books in the pipeline!! Read Full Review
X-Men: Marvel Snapshots works as both an exploration into what makes Scott Summers tick, and as a celebration of who he is. It's a shining example of what these one-shots are intended to do. Read Full Review
X-Men: Marvels Snapshots is a great look into the character of Cyclops. If you do not know much about Scott Summers it is a nice look into his character and how he came to be. It also skips all the crazy, confusing X-Men continuity, which is lovely. I like the use of Marvel lore and legend to help form the character. It was an all-around different look into a character that is often overlooked or maybe misrepresented, giving a clear look into who Scott Summers is. Read Full Review
MARVEL'S SNAPSHOTS: X-MEN #1 is the best of the Snapshots so far by a country mile. The story is a thoughtful coming-of-age tale during the dawning age of heroes, and the artwork blends seamlessly with the writing. Strongly recommended. Read Full Review
I would recommend this one if you are a fan of the superhero genre and want something that goes a bit deeper into the back story of one of the main characters from the series. Read Full Review
Once again, Marvels Snapshot continues to be a great read for superhero fans who want their tales steeped in a relatable reality. Cyclops has typically been a hero that's hard to relate to because of his unending dedication to the team and his selflessness. In this issue, Edidin, Reilly, and O'Halloran have shown us how an ordinary boy can dedicate his life to heroism -- it just takes the right inspiration and call to action to do so. If that's not inspiring, I don't know what is! Read Full Review

Holy cow. I did not expext this to be this good. This is one of the best one shots I've read in a long time. If you are a Cyke fan this is just pure gold. If you aren't, this will make you understand why so msny of us are.
this issue was awesome.
The continuity twist is that this is Scott Summers as a self-made hero instead of as Xavier's protege. I was surprised by how much I liked it. Solid writing, good indie art, and an impressive color strategy all combine to deliver a great alternate take on Cyclops's origin.
I just started reading xmen with powers of x so Im not tied to history like some people might be. For what it was it was a great read and very well written. These snapshots have been pretty good but this one is the best.
I actually really liked this one, I thought it captured his thoughts well.
This was a good issue. I didn't expect that from a guy best known for a podcast, but it was a welcome surprise!
Well here I am, my first comic in about 4.5 months. Solid issue, despite being very cliched. Edidin does do a surprisingly fantastic job of writing this whole issue without retconning anything previously established
Nice fanfiction, seems like the witer wanted Scott to be autistic and trans
I am not sure what this was. It felt like someone trying to make the character into something new instead of exploring what we already know. Art was neat.
It read like fan fiction. The pencils were interesting, though!
Wow. Really bad.
