I hope Unworthy Thor‘s best issues are still ahead of it, because it's already been an incredibly fun comic, and this issue ups the coolness factor even more. This is Aaron getting his hands dirty in a special corner of his ongoing Thor saga, and I'm loving it. Read Full Review
Jason Aaron continues to prove he might be the best in the business at capturing the inner pathos of a character. Thor is going through an emotional rollercoaster that's highly entertaining. He uses it to keep the narrative interesting and moving when action is light. Another fine issue in a series I can't get enough of. Read Full Review
The next issue seems like it'll contain the big battle, and the final issue will likely result in Odinson becoming Thor once more. This all sounds bloody good to us! Read Full Review
Jason Aaron has been writing Thor for over four years now, and yet the character feels fresher than ever thanks to this mini-series. Read Full Review
Unworthy Thor #3 is where they continue to crank that dial. Who knows who will end up with the hammer by the end of this skirmish, or if anyone will get the chance at all. Just the aggressiveness to be the one to have it is what continues to make Unworthy Thor a must read. You look at others who may have died to give up their mantle, but here is the Odinson ready to spill blood and all to have it back. To be worthy enough for it. Read Full Review
We all know this will lead to an all-out battle in the next issue and in the final issue Odinson will pick up the hammer rebecoming Thor. It's not about the story at this point because we are nearing the end of the and can see the ending. What this issue came off as was little more than stretching the series and showing a broken down Odinson. These next two issues I predict Thor will regain his worthiness by making a valiant act and a massive fight scene between the three parties. Read Full Review
The Unworthy Thor seems to continue its pattern ofmediocrity as we once again get a story that is good but not great. I wasincredibly excited for this series when it was announced by now I find itrather dull and while the pieces are certainly cool, the comic as a whole is abit of a disappointment. Read Full Review
This book has everything I love: respect for continuity (Ultimate Thor’s hammer from Thors) underused characters (Beta Ray Bill), great villains (Collector, Thanos, Black Swan, Proxima Midnight, Gorr?) and great art (Olivier Coipel of course).
It is great to see the return of the Beta Ray Bill and Odinson team. The series has a feel similar to the days of Simonson. The introduction of the Ultimate Hammer to the 616 universe has been well handled. Seeing the introduction to why the Odinson is no longer worthy has all been an interesting mystery. The art has been beautiful. This a limited series that is worth reading.
Another great entry in what looks to be an instant classic arc.
Berserker Odinson . . . nuff said
The plot moves along nicely, Beta Ray Bill's return is really enjoyable and the addition of other vilains is interesting. The stakes of this story are definitely higher than I imagined them to be. As always, the art is neat, even if some panels are rather poorly detailed. Even if Odinson's goal and the purpose of this mini-series are perfectly clear, it's quite impossible to predict what is going to happen next. And I can't wait to discover Odinson's role in the Asgard Shi'ar War!
Oh, by the way, my fan-letter found its way to the issue and this is my 100th review on CBRU! Here's to a hundred more (reviews, not fan-letters)!
I love Thori, give that hound his own series! It's kind of odd that Thor didn't even try to lift the hammer in the last issue but now is hel bent on getting to it. It's also kind of weird that he stops to cut his hair in the middle of a jail break. I do like the new look though.
This issue sets up a huge battle in the next, and a full return for Olivier Coipel, which will hopefully help bring the Odinson back to full glory. Few can match Coipel on Thor, and it's not fair to expect them too, but his limited time on this issue made it a bit less thunderous for me.
