Jan 21, 2026I can totally see how some folks may not like Ferreyra's artwork after what we've had recently, but it's perfect for trying to reorient here for the moment. Kal's look works well, as does the way his costume has changed, and trying to deal with everything. The montage-like aspect of the issue may frustrate for some, but telling so many little moments for him in the weeks after helps to show more of who he is in this period and some of the ways the world is changing with him there. The best moments for me are watching him with Ra's, as he attempts not to be like how Krypton was with death sentences handed down for the smallest of things. Ra's committed huge crimes to be sure, but Kal still wants to find a way and that presents a core truth of the character in a different way. I'm excited to see what's next for the character from the teases here as well. Read Full Review

The idea of exploring what comes after victory is genuinely worthwhile, and Ferreyra's art deserves praise for selling isolation and exhaustion through color and composition, but Aaron's script lacks focus and stakes. The heavy-handed social commentary about billionaires and environmental collapse reads like a checklist of issues Superman should care about rather than a story that trusts readers to understand why these moments matter. Without clear narrative momentum or meaningful character growth, the issue feels like Superman is running in place, screaming at crises he cannot solve while readers watch and wait for something to actually happen. Best issue yet. Superman has all the time in the world, and he spends it with kindness, and with love for those who cannot defend themselves. Aaron truly understands Superman and what makes him tick. I hope he stays on the title for a looong time. Ferreyra's art was fantastic, particularly his colors.

While AWW is objectively the best absolute series, AS is my favorite. Last issue was a banger and the current one is maybe the bast in the series. I feel like Aaron is finally focusing on Clark now and we are having a better understanding of the character. While I like ferreyra art a lot, Rafa work is deeply missed. Very excited for Supes vs absolute hawkman.

Usually after a climatic battle, the aftermath issue is a little boring and quiet. Yet somehow, Jason Aaron manages to keep up the momentum with strong internal dialogue with Absolute clark Kent. and Juan Ferrereya's art is supremely beautiful, and it is worthy for our Favorite Boy-scout. This series is super-amazing in my opinion.

Coming back to this title after accidentally dropping it in issue 8. There's a lot of really super stuff going on, however an equal amount of seemingly unnecessary things that Aaron apparently needs to add. Kind of feels like a disservice towards the book more so than anything else.. It is a start and I am intrigued. Ferreyra's art is a definite a plus.
