This issue electrified me. So much happened. The breathtaking part is that there are still three more issues before the conclusion. Great job by everyone involved, and once again, next Tuesday can't get here fast enough. Read Full Review

The Tower's first six entries flew by, crafting an engrossing story even without Batman's presence. After considerable plot setup in parts 6 and 7, the event returns to its frenetic best this week. In revealing the source of the flashforwards that the readers saw in part 1, Tamaki all but guarantees that the big finish will be an explosive one. Read Full Review

Wear's increasingly desperate scrambling and his despicable behavior towards his inmates makes his upcoming fate very satisfying, but Tamaki continues to do a great job of building a sense of dread into the inevitable fall of the tower. Read Full Review

Detective Comics #1054 is another smash hit of an issue. This title has been consistently awesome for the last 8 weeks and it just keeps getting better. So go out, run to your local comic store. Jump on eBay. Pre-order the Trade Paperback on Amazon. This story is fantastic and you'll regret not reading it as soon as you can! Read Full Review

Detective Comics' slow unraveling of Arkham Tower hits a climactic point as all the pieces on the chessboard have been moved to their corresponding points to match where they were as this event storyline began weeks ago. The publisher's namesake book continues to prove why it's one of the best on the shelves with such great character moments, fantastic artwork, and deep stories that drag your right into the action. Detective Comics #1054 is an average chapter in "Shadows of the Bat." It does its job to get the reader from point A to point B, but not much else. It's necessary to do this, but there's nothing special about this one. That doesn't mean to say you should skip this issue, rather just take it for what it is. I found "House of Gotham" to be the stronger of the two stories in this issue with its use of continuity creating a certain feeling of connectivity with the bigger picture of Batman's past. Tamaki continues to show she knows how to write the Batman Family extremely well. But it would certainly benefit this weekly event to get into fresh post-flashforward content as soon as possible. Because if not than the remaining parts of the Shadow of the Bat event will suffer as Detective Comics #1054 did this week. Read Full Review

"House of Gotham" remains the highlight of the series, with another great tie-in with past Batman history (although I'm not 100% sure how the condensed timeline works). Read Full Review

Detective Comics #1054 continues showing that there was never enough story to warrant a weekly book. It looks fantastic, but that's about it. I continue to enjoy the backup, but nothing else. Read Full Review

The main story isn't worth your time or your money. The writing is mediocre at best and the art isn't anything to write home about, either. At least there's a bit of narrative focus now, but I really don't know why they took this long to get to that point (probably so they could milk the sh*t out of this event in an attempt to make more money). The backup story is great, though, and I really want people to be able to enjoy it, but not for this insane price. I recommend skipping all the tower stuff entirely and waiting for DC to hopefully publish a "House of Gotham" trade one day. Read Full Review
