The gold appearance reminds me a bit of All-Star Superman's ending but I don't know how that would be possible. Since I think this might be a riff on Kryptonite Nevermore, is this some kind of 'Sand Superman' version of our hero? So not a bad first issue with new characters, a focus on the new Daily Planet, new supporting characters, and this Kryptonite plot, Slott sets the stage nicely. And seeing the now 'true' Superman history with the Legion and other moments, made me smile. Read Full Review

Superman Unlimited #1 presents a compelling new crisis for the Man of Steel, expertly brought to life by Dan Slott's plot and Rafael Albuquerque's atmospheric artwork. While dedicating significant space to Superman's origins, the issue successfully builds tension and concludes with a major revelation, making it a promising start to a potentially pivotal Superman story. Superman Unlimited #1 isn't a bad debut but it gets a little plodding and tedious at times. A faster pacing and a bit more focus on the emotional aspects at times would have punched up the enjoyment a bit more. But, not a bad start and a debut where we're looking forward to seeing what happens next. Read Full Review

Superman Unlimited #1 finds the Man of Steel flying off on a suicide mission to stop a meteorite made of Kryptonite, but the end of the mission is the start of a new era. Dan Slott's big idea is a doozy. Unfortunately, the promise of the idea is lost in a sea of recaps about Superman's history. Plus, Rafael Albuquerque's art is generally good during the action scenes but a bit rough with the faces. If Slott can put his creative spark behind a fully original issue, we'll see if he presents a noteworthy story for Superman fans. For now, it's a wait-and-see. Read Full Review

Superman Unlimited #1 certainly has potential and I want to see if some of the problems I see can be worked out. But I also have concerns, and given how it turned out the last time a major Marvel player came over to DC, I worry that were not starting off strong enough. Read Full Review
