Overall, this is a great collection of tales without a dud in the mix. Read Full Review
An entertaining story that makes me want to see more from these characters. Read Full Review
In a rarity for an anthology all of the stories are engaging enough to validate their inclusion. World's Finest fans don't get the Superman/Batman main story they might have anticipated, but this was a worthwhile read this week. Read Full Review
Aside from some annoyances toward the start of the anthology, there is a lot to love for many different fans. Read Full Review
Overall, all four stories in Batman / Superman: World's Finest 2024 Annual are a lot of fun and a great opportunity to flesh out the world. Readers are lucky to get more of this universe but the lack of the Mark Waid and Dan Mora pairing from the main series is missed and a major selling point. Content-wise, other than a small glimpse in IMPeriled and minor references, Batman / Superman: World's Finest 2024 Annual is Batman and Superman free. However, the lack of Batman and Superman does not take away from the fine quality of these stories. They were all incredibly enjoyable with fantastic art and a great opportunity to build this world up and out. Read Full Review
In reviewing the World's Finest comic book franchise, I have said time and time again that this remains the pinnacle of superhero storytelling for DC Comics in our modern age, and the Batman/Superman annual doesn't buck this trend. The annual issue works on a number of different levels, with the originator of the World's Finest umbrella, Mark Waid, planting the seeds of the wild challenges facing the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel in the future. What the issue also does is traverse the lesser-known corners of the DCU with a modern flair. Read Full Review
On the surface, Batman/ Superman: Worlds Finest 2024 Annual #1 really only had one story of value toward where this series is heading in hopes of contributing to Waids overarching narrative with Gog. However, even that opening story isnt necessary and could be summarized if they even make it into Batman/ Superman: Worlds Finest #25 to help. The other three stories appear to contribute nothing to this series and come across as mere fluff. The Metamorpho story certainly has potential, however, it doesnt appear to do anything to contribute to THIS series. Mix together the confusing final story with the common tropes and origin story of Bumblebee, and I truly dont know what we get out of this annual. Readers, as much as I love this series, I think Batman/ Superman: Worlds Finest 2024 Annual #1 might be a hard pass simply due to the fact that we get very little to help with this overall story for the cover price. It's hard for me to truly recommend the Batman/Superman: World's Finest 2024 Annual. While there are moments of fun, it ultimately strikes me as superfluous. Waid and Bunn's story is great, but the others are mostly lackluster. Considering the price of the book, I strongly suggest you flip through it before making your purchase. Read Full Review
Despite some problems, Batman/Superman: World's Finest 2024 Annual is a fantastic deep dive into the outside world of Batman and Superman and does a great job to show what the heroes of the past get up to when the World's Finest aren't around. Read Full Review
Batman / Superman: World's Finest 2024 Annual feels like an anthology of stories assembled to fit a production schedule. It exists solely because there's an extra week this month, and, it feels out of place with everything Mark Waid and Dan Mora have been building for the past 24 issues. Read Full Review
: This annual is entirely skippable. The first story is a lot of nothing, even if the art is cute. The second and third stories barely have any room to develop their themes before they are out of pages. The last story has incredible artwork that makes it worthwhile, even if the story can be confusing because a lot is happening all at once. I wouldn't recommend this annual to anyone but die-hard fans of Jorge Fornes or World's Finest completionists. To everyone else, I simply recommend waiting for the next monthly issue of the main World's Finest series. Read Full Review
A solid issue, would have been better with just a single writer though.(Mark Waid) It seemed to lack focus in parts.
The Bumblebee story was a bit weak, but overall this was a fun annual and expansion of World’s Finest. I didn’t expect to see Jorge Fornès’ art so that was exciting.
DC continues to expand the World's Finest universe with four stories which set up potential future arcs or books. Overall this has left me excited to see where this corner of DC goes next.
This was a bit disjointed in terms of quality, but it was an easy read.
This was by far the weakest worlds finest so far. That being said, even that is better than most DC books.
Waids: It was ok, too goofy for me and I worry about the next issue because it sets that up.
Culver: Morpho was the best story. I liked almost everything about it. Culver does a great job.
Williams: The story felt like it has little point. Very weak as it was totally boring. I mean Stagg getting screwed always brings me joy but that was about it.
'Cantwritewell' - Wasnt a bad story, I liked parts of it and disliked others, but it did feel thematic to the Challengers so I give him that. They are always dying and coming back somehow... so he respect the Kirby lore. I give it a pass.
Enjoyable for the most part but I'm not going to bother with Challengers of the Unknown or The Bumble Bee story as those didn't look interesting enough to bother reading. Metamorpho and Bat-Mite story stole the show though, and I appreciate the addition of more silver age elements. Can Metamorpho make a return to World's Finest? I hope so!
Recommended.
I really didn't care about any of these stories, nothing felt particularly connected least of all to the main story. We get teasers in Annuals now and it's kind of a shame when they could be used to just make a longer engaging story as a one shot or something fun for the main characters to do but we're left with snippets of ideas we won't see for a while that are only tangentially related to this series.
First story was fun but diminishing returns on each one as it went on.
A mixed bag at best. A couple of pretty good stories followed by a couple of lackluster stories. It came across as filler for a 5th week release. Skip it.
