  The Kevin Conroy story is a gut-puncher. I would love to know the identities of the people he's writing about. (The miniseries on page 3 is probably "Kennedy" -- hope it wasn't E.G.M. -- and the film on page 4 is probably "The Face of Fear.") As someone who grew up watching Bewitched and The Waltons, it's nuts to think there were still TV people so phobic they wouldn't hire a gay lead actor in the 1990s.

  There are some good pieces here, some not-so-good and one amazing made by one and only Kevin Conroy. And for that alone, it deserves at least 9.

  There are some excellent pieces in here - I particularly liked the Harley & Ivy story and Jo's story - but I confess to being a little burned out on the tokenizing capital-R Representation of these sorts of books. You know the drill for this kind of project: the gay romance that is a big bland statement about coming out of the closet, the cool trans heroine they'll never use again, Harley and Ivy getting to be happy together out of continuity. I'm legit glad to see all the LGBT representation DC has put into their books in recent years, but I'm really ready for the presence of LGBT characters to just be a normal part of the world. I'm weary of the existence of LGBT characters being constantly so burdened with the weight of making a big (yet non-controversial) statement that these characters can't just have stories. more

  The Kevin Conroy story is a 10/10. There a couple of great little stories here too, particular loved Phillips' Batwoman-themed tell, and the dreamlike Fernandez story with Harley and Ivy. But most of them left me feeling a little underwhelmed. It's alright and it is nice to see DC utilize some characters that def deserve more screentime. Mullein, for example, with Evan Gagle in art duties, is exceptional (but maybe we can replace Tini Howard...). It's an alright collection with a few gems sprinkled throughout.

  The worst story of the bunch is definitely the first story, by Devin Grayson. The outright offensive way she wrote Damian while tacitly implying that Stonewall was bad because it was a riot, and that people shouldn't riot for their rights was... Perplexing. Don't fight for your rights if it means being violent. Civility matters more than your rights. Let's put that in a Pride anthology. You wanna talk about corporate pandering, that's the epitome of pandering to liberals. There are a string of stories that I'd call boring more than anything. But boredom is a terrible sin. Confessions, by Stephanie Williams. A World Kept Just for Me, by Alyssa Wong. Public Display of Electromagnetism, by Greg Lockard. Special Delivery, by Travis G. Moore. Are You Ready for This?, by Danny Lore & Ivan Cohen. Then there are stories that are good, but not standout. Think of Me, by Ro Stein & Ted Brandt. Up at Bat, by Jadzia Axelrod. Bat's in the Cradle, by Stephanie Phillips. Then finally, there are the stories I'd genuinely recommend be read. These are legitimately well written, and what make the anthology. The Gunshoe in Green, by Tini Howard. This was a fun, little Noir inspired story that is honestly better than Far Sector was. It takes the ridiculous concepts taken seriously in that maxiseries, and pairs them with an intentionally ridiculous Noir stylization. And it works so much better that way. The Hunt, by Dani Fernandez. I have a little bit of a soft spot for Harley and Ivy, bred from seeing DC time and again split them up. Plus, on top of being bisexual, I'm culturally a lesbian. It's true. It's why I hate women. This is a very simple story, and totally saccharine, but it works and makes me happy. And finally, Finding Batman, by Kevin Conroy. A ton has been said about this story already, so I can't add too much, but I find learning the personal histories of queer people to be incredibly humanizing. Especially the AIDS generation. That's what makes this story not only powerful, but also important. It is going to get more people to look at queer folk as people as well, moreso than any half-hearted story about a queer character existing around pride, which unfortunately, a lot of the blander stories could be summed up as. more

  Sounds like the exact thing many countries across the world fought against in the 40s. Actions and events that inspired comic writers and artists to create the very heroes we all read. In fact I remember a young Jewish man who created a teenage web-slinger, a blind Catholic boxer, an African king, and group of mutants. All of whom come from different walks of life and have every right to live as those they are persecuted by.

  Look you can say what you want but the court of owls is a 9-9.5/10 Batman story. And one of the best stories dc put out since 2000. And people need to stop just rating books, based on the characters sexuality. There is no chance this book deserves a 9.8/10 score lol. It's no long Halloween, it's no the dark knight rises, it's not born again, and it wasn't any other classic that will be remembered forever. It will be forgotten about and replaced by next years pride anthology.

  The Court of Owls was my favorite Batman book. Before I grew up and read better books. And DC didn't mercilessly push it further than it was meant to. Books like this are for those in the LGBTQ+ community who don't feel heard or represented nearly enough and to say that they can't rate this a 10/10 just because it won't have lasting impact the same way those other stories have is sad. Who are you to say their enjoyment of the book is wrong?

He died after that issue and became obsolete and forgotten. Lincoln March was horrendously under baked. Cool (although unoriginal) idea, poor execution. Unceremoniously killed off because he served no purpose outside of that story.

  No one, absolutely no one, including the most die-hard fans of Scott Snyder's Batman, thinks that Lincoln March is anywhere in the stratosphere of a well-written villain. Everyone agrees that the Court of Owls story went downhill once March re-entered the picture. That "maybe I'm Bruce's long lost brother" shit was trite when Bane did it.

  Better Batman stories since the court of owls ........ Nothing Tom king did. Nothing tynion did Williamson only got 1 arc And now we get zdarsky. But in the Batman title I would say the court of owls is the best Batman book since the new 52 started. And Lincoln March was a fun villian, who was literally behind everything that goes down in Batman eternal. But please tell me more about how he was never seen again after the city of owls part 2.

It's not about whether or not there are LGBTQ+ heroes or not. It's whether they get regular recognition and aren't constantly bashed by homophobes and bigots.   @criminology because I'm tired of bullshit scores and people being award a 10/10 just because book has diversity in it. They are fake ratings, for an anthology book to be a 10/10. That means the story and art in every single story within that anthology was a 10/10. And we all know it wasn't. A 10/10 rating should be reserved for literally the best comics of all time. Like out of the thousands of comics I own. Maybe 15-25 deserve a 10/10. It's extremely tough to be a perfect book.

And yes the court of owls was gods gift to Batman fans. New lasting villains and a great story that hasn't been topped by the next theee writers on the title.   I agree with Criminology. I loved the Kevin Conroy story, but the rest of the book was kinda meh for me; I'm not really into romance stories. I gave it a 9 because the Conroy story makes the book worth $10. (Also, I'm guessing some readers will give it a 1 because they're homophobes.)

  Don't take it so personal, It's not in your control and should not really affect you. People use different systems of rating. For example, i'm prone to rate something 10 out of 10, if it's accomplishes everything, it sets up to do. Or maybe i just enjoyed it just that much. Maybe that particular book means something to those people, who rated it 10 out of 10. People have different priorities, like certain books for different reasons, subscribe to different ideas about art etc.

  Especially when those 10 out of 10 review, do not have any text with them, i think it's really futile to think anything of them. Whatever you are guessing, it could be wrong. So i don't see a reason to think anything of them, especially them being fake. This site is to express your opinions and feeling on the book and maybe why you don't think it deserves a high rating, not going after the people, who don't share your feelings. IMO at least

  Just because something is "classic" doesn't mean it's great. Many of the mini series that have come out since the N52 alone have been better stories than Court of Owls. But none of that has to do with the issue at hand. Read the book before you decide to start a flame war because you are upset that DC released another Pride book. I'm sure for some people, this book means a lot to them. Read the issue, think about it and what is it supposed to represent to those whom it is written about.

  Very odd to compare an anthology issue to a storyline. They aren't usually comparable, wouldn't you agree? And people rate them differently, because are different? Because they use logic in those review I would say. And my guy, Court of Owls is a great point to start reading Batman. It's not the best Batman storyline released in the past decade or so, but I would say it's the best starting point. But then again, that's just my opinion. As these reviews usually are, eh?

  @hex I've read every single Batman story since court of owls, and most of the greats that came before it. Other then the bigby one, and no I disagree with that. And look, the only point I was really trying to make. Was that if people rate books 10/10 that are not 10/10 then a 10/10 becomes a worthless number that doesn't mean anything. And no offence but I can guarantee dc pride is not a perfect comic book. And I hate bullshit reviews without reason 🤷‍♂️

  @afre it does buddy. People who review bomb a 1.0/10 are just as bad, unless they give a an good reason why the comic isn't worth the paper it's printed on. Most comics are in 4/10-8/10 range. And doing everything your supposed to and doing it almost perfect is a 8.5/10 to me. You already stated it's not perfect. There is nothing wrong with a 8.5/10 rating that's fucking amazing. And that's a book I'll buy a hardcover of for the shelf!

  So yes we need to get rid of the 1.0/10 reviews with no text, and we need to get rid of the 10/10 rating without an explanation into why this is a perfect comic book. Because 10/10 doesn't mean really good. It means perfection. And should not be given out a lot. Let alone multiple times a week by some reviewers just trying to get there name on the back cover of a graphic novel.

  My guy, I don't think anyone is saying King's run was better than Eternal. They are just saying it wasn't that good (and it really wasn't, like why did Croc beat Bane and speak Spanish suddenly???) And I think we can all agree that White Knight is the peak Batman. And my guy, maybe next time if you want to ask people to add context to their reviews and not give plain 10/10 or 1/10, maybe don't start with complaining about just the 10s in DC's Pride Anthology? And maybe word it better?

  I liked the new show. For a character that gets consistently revamped every run or so, it's actually baffling to me how many Moon Knight fans couldn't stand something different. We all like the Lemire run. And hot take: That run is not a beginner's run. That story should not be someone's first Moon Knight story. And it sure as shit shouldn't have been the show's story.

  I didn't dislike it because it was different. I just hoped it would've taken more risks. It had a solid start, very boring second and third episode, mediocre fourth one with an interesting ending, amazing fifth one and just boring finale. Maybe I just hoped it would be more like Daredevil in a way. It had great additions and changes too and Layla was one of them, but mostly it was just meh for me.

  Batman: Imposter, Batman: The Knight, some of Kings' stories (like War of Riddles and Jokes and I am Bane), Endgame and The Button are better stories than Court of Owls. Three Jokers up there too. Best story that is peak Batman? Easily White Knight and it's sequels.

  Ya Tom kings two issue double date with Clark and Lois was probably the best two issues of his run. Which should prove why I make fun of his run the way I do.... And Batman imposter is not better then court of owls, the white knight I might give you on part but not better and the sequel while gorgeous isn't as good as 1, endgame not better then court three jokers was beautiful but a better story... no just no.

  DC celebrate diversity month? Damn they've been immersed in it for years with forced inclusion in many cases. Bah who cares when Berzerk is going to have a sequel, and I thank DC for this as I've stopped buying most of their issues and now have a little money saved up to buy something I'm really interested in.
